So I was at work today and my boss turned on the radio. When he did my ears immediately perked up! Hayley was singing!!! I'm not sure exactly what station it was but I think it may have been a Christian station. They played Peace Shall Come! I was literally stunned for a full five minutes, sitting there with my mouth hanging open This is the first time I've ever heard Hayley on the radio-let alone a US radio station in old little Mechanicsburg, PA!! Just wanted to let you all know Merry Christmas! Paige

Paige Hi Paige, Didn't spend much time looking, but on the basis of what you wrote (Christian station), I just took a quick look at Cumberland Valley Christian Radio (WPFG FM 91.3), and saw that they had just played "The Coventry Carol" by Hayley Westenra. Perhaps they are the ones who have been playing songs from her "Christmas Magic" album. That indeed was a surprise. BobS

I actually just got home from a two hour choir practice and this was a nice surprise! Thanks for saving me the trouble of finding it

Wow, that's great, Paige and Bob! Same here. I even tried Comet's trick last year of sending her CD to the Christian radio station headquarters... no luck at all. I'm not even sure whether they even got it or not, because I found it a bit confusing figuring out their address. Oh well.

Hi, For popping in once in awhile before Christmas. If only it were streamed so that those outside the area could hear. wpfgfm.org/nowplayingYou don't get much advanced notice. You get a much better chance of seeing what you missed! BobS PS Thought of you, Libby, when I saw that Josh Groban with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir had just been played.

Merry Christmas, Paige! I've moved this thread to the Media board so it doesn't get buried in Miscellaneous. Richard

That was it, Libby! After I saw that, I had to see if it was on Youtube so that I could hear it. Found it many times over. It sounded very nice. BobS

Martin, Spiderman and myself were discussing this subject of Christian Radio stations on last months chat.
Hayley has sufficient suitable material to make an album for radio stations.
Majesty, Amazing Grace, Ave Maria, Mary did you know, Abide with me, Whispering hope, On the wings of time. Benedictus, I'll make music.
Instead of individual fans like Libby, Taylor and myself trying to send original discs to just a few stations a more organised approach including Decca / Universal and Hayley's management might be a better idea.
An EPK (Electronic Press Kit) with 10 to 20 high quality tracks on it being sent to as many stations as possible. organising broadcast permission and whatever copyright issues that would need to be addressed.

I really like that idea, Comet. I would also include The Heart Worships, You Are Water, possibly I Say Grace, and Whispers in a Dream. I would also love to hear You Raise Me Up. Some of those songs you mention, though, were bonus tracks or on another artist's album. I'll Make Music is possible, though, as it would fit beautifully. Another issue is, the songs that were only released in certain countries: Majesty in NZ, The Heart Worships in the UK, You Are Water in the US, etc. I also seriously doubt they'd put a bonus track from a Japanese album on it, and I'm not sure I see that it's actually a religious song, anyway. But Majesty is a song that was popular on US Christian radio when it came out... 10 years ago! So it would work, if Decca had the brains to include it. As for Mary Did You Know, perhaps that could be a bonus track, for the US in particular, since they never got it before, and the song is possibly more popular here. Then another issue: all of the songs that we each listed are at least 4 years old. Everyone's been waiting and waiting for something new from Hayley. So obviously this imaginary album would have to be after the album Hayley's working on right now, which we can only assume is getting close to being finished. It would be great to have a few new songs, some hymns and some more current contemporary Christian songs. Or even better, something written by Hayley (though Whispers in a Dream fits in that category). But if new ones were added, some of the older songs might have to be eliminated, since together we both listed enough songs to almost fill a whole album. Even without On the Wings of Time or Mary Did You Know, that's already 11 songs. Then if she added YRMU, that's 12 songs. Also, would the old songs all be old recordings, or would any of them be new recordings? But knowing Decca, all of this seems unlikely. Unless maybe, if there happened to be any sort of Christian artist offshoot label linked to Universal music somehow. Is that even a thing? Haha, you know like there's Universal Japan, Universal Classics & Jazz, all connected to Decca in some way, aren't they? Is it possible Universal would have a more Christian/religious offshoot label?

Aha! I found Capitol Christian Music group, which is now owned by Universal, formerly owned by EMI. Matt Redman, a very popular artist whose worship songs are often used in many churches, is from the UK. One of the labels is Six steps records, which is under CCMG (which is under Universal). CCMC is based in Tennesse, USA. There are other offshoot labels, including Forefront and Sparrow. Sparrow is one I'm familiar with. All of these are based in Brentwood, TN. The group Delirious?, creators and original singers of the song Majesty, have been under Virgin records, which is based in the UK and is currently owned by Universal (formerly EMI). Good grief, my head's spinning with all these label-owner switches! And out of curiosity, I did a search, and I now see EMI doesn't own anything anymore, as of 2012. I was beginning to wonder! So, would Hayley use Virgin records in the UK, or Capitol Music in the US? Or both? Another thing I was wondering about. Would such an album work in Asia? They love Amazing Grace and all her other works, but can an album promoted as a Christian/religious album work in a non-Christian continent such as Asia? Especially China? And then what of her non-Christian/non-religious fans, in general? Haha, I've probably just wasted a Sunday afternoon researching all this, and probably none of it will ever happen! But, maybe the next time Comet or anyone else encounters Hayley at a concert, we could suggest this to her and see what she thinks. It just came to me that an album like this could be the perfect thing to release when Hayley takes time off to have children. That way, she could still make fans happy and release an album without doing a lot of work, since most of the songs would be from older albums, and I'm sure recording a few extra songs wouldn't take that much time. I'm just mapping out Hayley's future career, here, you see.

Hi Libby,
On The Wings of time: Lyrics by Hayley Westenra.
Te moana Te awatea Ka nui taku aroha moa Oh joyful one Cast your golden light Reach out and touch everything in sight
On the wings of time My heart will guide Flying free Flying endlessly
Sail on my dreams Sail on my love I need only look to the stars above
Te moana Te awatea Sail on my dreams Sail on my love
The first three lines in English, what else could they possibly be about ?

A separate reply to Libby's post, I really must try to improve my command of the English language.
The idea was to have a collection of songs in a format that you or I or any of our members could e mail to any stations we manage to get in touch with. No postage costs, no damaged cases in the post.
With all the copyright issues dealt with by Decca / Universal or whoever permission was needed from.
Now that you mention it, a hard copy cd version of it would be very nice to see in Radio Station Archives and in real town libraries.
