I know this is going slightly off topic. Just wondering what is a "normal" price for Hayley's concerts in the past? The prices listed here is similar with the Beijing / Taiwan shows.

VIP tickets in Taiwan was about $135 GBP, the rest are $80 GBP and below.

In Beijing the front half of the 1st floor are price between $215 GBP and $180 GBP. But they also have tickets as cheap as $9 GBP and $20 GBP in the back of the 2nd floor.

Re to Martin: I think the reason they expect to fill the arenas - and perhaps the prices - are because of all the guest performers. Most of them are quite well known and have extensive fan bases who might be willing to pay the steep prices. Just guessing.

Housewives’ favourite David Essex confesses he's a Wolves fan

David Essex, former heart-throb turned housewives’ favourite, has a confession – he is a Wolves fan.

And how the Molineux men, desperately battling the dreaded drop to division one, could do with a sprinkle of the singer’s Stardust right now....

“I was besotted by Wolves,” said 65 year-old Essex, who dreamed of becoming a professional footballer as a youngster, playing with West Ham United Juniors.

“I think it was the mix of the name, Wolves, and the colour, old gold.

“I’d been walking round the East End in the shirt and the West Ham boys would say, ‘why are you wearing that?’

“They made me take it off. The pressure was too much. It’s sad.”

Essex, who has made the transition from chart success with his 1973 single Rock On to showbiz royalty, spoke to the Sunday Mercury as he prepared for his latest venture: ‘Nights On Broadway – The Best of Musicals’.

The show, a foot-tapping compilation of songs from theatre greats, comes to Birmingham’s LG Arena on Saturday, October 26.

David will be sharing the stage with multi-platinum artist Hayley Westenra, Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts, West End star Ruthie Henshall and G4’s Jonathan Ansell – all accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

It’s a challenge Essex is relishing, though he admits butterflies flutter under his laid-back exterior. “You have to be apprehensive/nervous,” he said, “otherwise you are complacent.

“But I love Birmingham, it’s one of my favourite places, and I’m not just saying that. I can remember Birmingham Odeon really rocking.”

It’s been a long, rewarding journey for the man born David Cook in humble Plaistow.

Dad Albert was a docker, mum Olive of Irish traveller stock.

His parents’ enthusiasm for music proved infectious, a passion that soon swamped Essex.

“My mum always played the piano,” he laughed. “She had a unique talent of playing one note and singing in another. Dad had a decent singing voice.”

Since taking the charts by storm in 1973 and amassing 19 top 40 singles, he’s starred on stage, in films, soaps, written his own theatre productions and penned a best seller.

And there is no sign of the production line of mouthwatering challenges slowing.

“What would I do if it stopped?” he grinned. “Probably sign-on at the Jobcentre.”

Following the almost Beatle-like hysteria of those heady, early years, Essex is in a more comfortable place.

He didn’t ask for – and positively shied away from – the screaming adulation of teenage girls.

“It was a shock, looking back,” he admitted. “I should have enjoyed it more. I was a bit bemused and bewildered because I always wanted to be my own man. I never considered myself in the David Cassidy heart-throb bracket.”

He’s now in the pleasant position of being able to pick and chose his roles – but doesn’t think much of today’s pop culture.

Those looking for a blueprint for showbiz longevity, would do well to study his glittering CV.

Because when it comes to long-lasting success, the only way is Essex.

New Zealander Hayley Westenra signed her first international recording contract with Universal Records
in the UK at the tender age of 14. Her first release under the deal, Pure (2003), then became the fastest selling
international debut album in the history of the UK classical charts.

Her new-found success meant spending months at a time in the Britain, being supervised by one parent at a time.
They alternated between looking after her younger brother and sister back in Christchurch. “Looking back it was
tough on both my parents,” she recalls. “My Dad gave up his job, it was proving too much.”

At the time there was certainly a lot going on in the Westenra world. Signed to a major label making
international albums, needing to promote them and still fitting in schoolwork and GCSE exams, there
was a huge conflict. She valued her education, but at the same time, “I was thinking I’m going to be a singer.
A big singer or a small singer, that didn’t matter, but I was going to be singing.”

With successive albums, Odyssey (2005), Treasure (2007) and River of Dreams: The Very Best of Hayley Westenra (2008),
Hayley proved that that early success was no fluke; to date, she has sold over 4 million albums worldwide.
Her last album, Paradiso (2011), took her status to a new level, when she recorded in
Rome with legendary film composer Ennio Morricone and his orchestra.

“Over the years I’ve learnt more and more about music and my interpretation of the music is different,” she explains.
“I suppose I’m digging deeper and deeper in myself and putting more out there rather than just
singing a song – it’s no longer singing without any life experience.”

After all, she has sung for such luminaries as George W. Bush and Tony Blair, has been personal songbird
to Her Majesty The Queen four times and has sung for both Princes William and Harry.

Hayley has also performed at many prestigious sporting events, including football (the FA Cup Final),
baseball (the MLB in the US), tennis (the Mercedes Cup in Los Angeles) and rubgy, with her proudest duty -
singing the New Zealand national anthem in support of her much-loved All Blacks rugby team.

Since the release of Paradiso, Hayley has had the honour of appearing in front of HRH The Princess Royal
at the Royal Variety Performance; she was the special guest on the Operastar 2012 series finale in
Seoul, South Korea; and she performed at the closing ceremony of the Second Beijing International Film Festival
with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra with conductor Michael Seal.

In autumn 2012, Hayley took part in the prestigious David Foster & Friends tour of the Pacific Rim
in autumn 2012, appearing alongside Chaka Khan, Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Paul Young and of course,
the legendary David Foster himself. To round a busy year off, along with Sarah McLachlan, Loreena McKennitt
and Andrea Corr, she guested at the Tim Janis American Christmas Carol gala concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall,
in aid of the Golden Hat Foundation, a charity set up to aid people suffering from autism, which has
Kate Winslet as its figurehead.

Despite her busy career, Hayley works tirelessly for charitable causes whenever she can.
With the devastating effects of the recent earthquake in Hayley’s beloved hometown of Christchurch, she vowed to
do all she can to help the people of the city where she was raised. In March 2011, Hayley launched Quake Aid,
with a national fundraising concert held at Auckland’s Vector Arena.

She works regularly with the Royal British Legion to support British troops,
and is now commonly referred to as the ‘Forces Songbird’.

Hayley was also one of the youngest ambassadors for UNICEF when she first stepped into the role in 2005.
Her special project was bikes for Ghana, raising money so girls could ride to school. “I’m looking at starting
a new project in Laos. People always say ‘oh, it’s so great that you do all this charity work.’ But it makes you
feel really good inside and it’s given me the opportunity to give something back.

“I am now also vice-president of the Vera Lynn Trust. We support children with cerebral palsy, helping the parents,
the children and the schools, which the government does not fund.” Vera Lynn had asked her
round to her house for tea to take on the role. Dame Vera has always been extremely fond of Westenra
and they have worked together on several projects. “I am her baton carrier -
someone who can keep up the work she started.”

In recent months, Hayley has been working on a new album, entitled Hushabye, which is scheduled
for release in mid-June. No doubt it will open yet another chapter in this songbird’s successful career.

That's the title used by Play.com that I posted a couple of days ago. It could be that, but who knows?

Yes who knows. The article writer may have got the title by reading the Play website. I think all the CD sellers are interested in is getting as large a slice of the pre-order market as possible therefore details do not need to be accurate.
