Well it has always seemed a bit strange to me that the first day of summer is Midsummers Day! I suppose that means that the summer is one day long. About right if you live in the UK.

Well we've well and truly thread-drifted now, haven't we! So I may as well throw a curve ball... I tend to think of summer as the warmest three month period of the year (on average) and that is, for most of the temperate latitudes in the northern hemisphere, the three month period beginning roughly June 10th to 12th... it varies a bit from place to place, and that's about halfway between the two other "summers" we've been discussing. So logically, there's very little to choose between the other two unless you are astronomically inclined. I like the earlier dates though, because the longer days in early June compared to September make it feel more summery, to me anyway. Just not this week (in the UK)! Cheers, Dave

Yeah, that's always what they talk about. But, in that case, how can the first day of the season be the same for everybody, if it goes by weather? There have been some rather dreary Junes's in Seattle in the past, which we fondly call June-uary. That hasn't happened since summer 2011, where the whole summer was kind of cloudy. My sister and I took our first vacation together to Seaside, Oregon that August. It was beautiful there, but it would have been much better if the sun had come out a little more often! This thread is starting to sound as though it belongs in the Weather thread.

On last week's show 'Would He Even Know Me Now'" was played.
Also Classical Reflection's probable American radio début of their single 'Bring Him Home' was played!

Internet radio, or "regular" radio? "Regular" radio as in broadcast FM radio ... since the single was released five days before the June 10 show, it could be the début for American Internet radio too!

Yeah. You know, the radio you can turn on when you're in your car, or working on the car in the garage? LOL That kind of radio! The good old-fashioned kind. Since I don't use internet on anything except my computer, internet radio doesn't do me that much good. If I'm going to listen to CC music on my computer, I might as well listen to my own playlist on my computer, with my Zune software. On the go, I use my mp3 player. My newer car has Sirius, but I don't know what stations I have access to with that. I know very little about it. I'm technologically-challenged. I'm not your average young person who's constantly attached to technology. LOL

I'm not your average young person who's constantly attached to technology. LOL Hi Libby! One word I would add about old-fashioned radio is "static"! Although annoying at times, it adds a comfort! There is a public radio station WJFF in Jeffersonville NY (about 50 miles from me & where the 1969 Woodstock Festival occured). That station's reception was very staticky and meant the stereo's antenna would literally be taped to the window. Now, thanks to digital radio, its crystal clear on computers etc. Dad's car has Sirius Radio capability. He didn't want to subscribe to Sirius after the free trial period ended when he bought the car. But Sirius often has a free two-week preview which is nice. Some of the stations I enjoy during the preview is Watercolors (smooth jazz), 'Sirius'ly Sinatra, Symphony Hall (classical) and some of the Francophone music stations are the only ones I like. I also agree about not being attached to technology. I only have a basic, old cell phone if needed at or going to/from work. And I only get a signal five miles away down the road. No signal here at the house. What is the deal with folks SO attached to their smartphones in public...and heaven forbid...driving! I confess that I would be lost without my iPad at home. Everything from weather radar, games, music playing, internet, email. Quite remarkable as my wifi signal reaches my garden! I barely switch my PC on at all now. OK. Oh right...KITC FM! Becky played Prayer last Wednesday. She did mention something about a Christmas In July show. i will ask her if it is this coming week or later on.

Becky played 'Heaven' on last week's show. I think the Christmas in July program will be later in the month!

My brain had a Christmas in July moment this week. I suddenly got a Christmas song stuck in my head the other day, but it's not one by Hayley, or even one that I hear that often. It's Sing We Now of Christmas. I was at work at the time. I literally have no idea where that came from! Oh well. Haha.

Happy Christmas in July! Becky's radio show is having their Christmas show today and she just played Hayley's 'Veni, Veni Emmanuel'! So lovely!!
I hope Becky will play another one of Hayley's songs as there is still 90 minutes in the programme! Towards the end she played 'Sleigh Ride'!
I will post the playlist if anyone wants to get his or her CD collection in shape when inventories are still full!

Whatever happened to Sarah Brightman's "Winter in July"? That would be very appropriate given today's weather, the monsoon is here. It started to rain at 10am, and according to the forecast won't stop this side of midnight. If it runs true to form, the next spell of dry weather will be early September!
