well done Libby,
well we have a sound sample, no hint of Hayley's vocal in the trailer or Paul Lawler's Instagram.
This looks like it is a movie worth watching at least once and more times if you are a fan of the New Zealand countryside and perhaps of movie soundtracks.

Well, the IMDB page still lists Hayley as the vocalist, so I would assume they'd change if it were no longer true.
Hey, so, I asked on their FB page when it would be released in the US, and where/how it might be, and here is their answer:
"Yes current date is 5th Dec, not sure if it is TV but definitely digital and DVD, will keep you posted".

Another photo; they also posted the trailer in 2 parts, but it's the same as the one I posted above. I have to say, either the editing isn't great, or the acting isn't incredibly amazing. Almost as bad as Kristen Stewart's stiff, halting lines. Hopefully it's just the editing. I do believe the is the first studio recording of Hayley we’ve heard in two years, the last occasion being on Placido Domingo’s Christmas album released around this time in 2015. Has there been something more recent? I can’t think of anything off the top of my head. Anyway, I think it sounds quite lovely. Rather folksy, stripped back, very invocative of the western style the film was trying to achieve. Definitely not enough to get a full grasp on what the soundtrack will sound like overall, or the extent of Hayley’s role in it. But, if nothing else, a beautiful whisper is much more welcome than silence. -Taylor

Thank you, Taylor...that is a very subtle vocal of Hayley! I can just imagine that there are some scenes in the movie to which Hayley's voice will add much more emotion. I have shared tour findings on our HWI Facebook page.
Thanks also to Libby for sharing the photos of the characters in the movie. I love the promotional pics of the costumed actors/actresses in front of the plain background. Though I wish the name of the actor or actress and the character name were on them. Very suitable for autographs or trading cards. To me, they are the sort of pics that I would print out for myself.
Ooh, nearly 2 AM...I'd better get into bed!

It was more than just a few notes. There was the humming at :27, but a bit after that (I couldn't see the number, as my ear was plastered to the speaker above the monitor LOL), there was some "ooohs". Yes, it was nice to finally hear some actual vocals, confirmation that she did indeed sing for the album.... but, I certainly hope there's something more audible than this. It was not only quiet, but too low. It was hard at times to discern if I was hearing vocals along with the music or not; it's just too quiet for anyone to pay much attention if they didn't know better.

Edit: I just pre-ordered the album I see it is download only so far, The Stolen SoundtrackThere is something more permanent about a cd even in a card sleeve like a promo cd, does'nt have to be an expensive production. I have been listening to the sample Track "The Clouds on the mountain on repeat, It has the most wonderful calming effect.. |
