Hello folks! The 2012 Classic BRIT Awards will be held at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday 2 October 2012, and tickets are now on sale: www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/classic-brits/default.aspxI've posted the information here in the Media board because we're all hoping that Hayley's 'Paradiso' will be nominated for the Album of the Year award, to be voted for by the public. Fingers crossed! I've also posted a link to this thread on our Facebook page. Richard

Thanks Richard but as indicated no information regarding appearances is available at present. Laura Wright has had this date on her website event calendar for some time now so I guess there is a good chance she is appearing. But as for Hayley............ Martin

If Hayley doesn't walk away with an armload of Classic BRITs for "Paradiso" then this entire ceremony will be a sham.

I think we already know that Steve, from past experience and the odd hint from 'sources'. I hope Hayley appears though, it would be nice, though Laura seems to be Decca's flavour of the year, this year, so I wonder if they'd be considered broadly too similar to both appear on the same stage this year? Not by us of course, but by industry moguls. We shall see. Cheers, Dave

Dave, you're scaring me. Does that mean they won't nominate Hayley if Laura's there, and vice versa? That's ridiculous! If Paradiso isn't nominated, they are absolutely nuts! With Ennio Morricone on it? Oh, I'll be so disgusted. I already will if she doesn't win, but to not even be nominated at all... She has to be there! The one time she has an album they might think worthy of an award, and she might not even go!!

Hello folks! I'll wait for more information before I book, but I'll probably go to the Classic BRIT Awards this year. I'm now looking out for details of the Launch event, where the nominations will be announced. Richard

Hi
Just booked 2 tickets. Stalls are £45 as opposed to £42.50 last year. Still good value. Unable to book our usual front row so had second row seats. This will be the 8th one I have attended.
Cheers
Tony

Best wishes Martin Hi Martin and Libby, Yes, it was exactly that. Laura has an album out this year so if they didn't want both of them perfotming, she would get priority (I think the record companies have a big say in who appears) but I'm just guessing. But of course, even then, there would be other opportunities for Hayley to be involved. Wouldn't it be nice for example if Laura were to win a category and Hayley to present the award? And if she's in the Country at the time, Hayley will I suspect be in the audience at the Decca table! Who knows, she could be nominated for something anyway, not necessarily album of the year, and could perform as a result of that. But we just don't know! Cheers, Dave

But how could they not let Hayley sing a song from her album? It's Ennio Morricone, for goodness' sake! When was/is Laura's album released? Because if it was earlier this year, and the awards were in May as they usually are, then her album wouldn't have made it in time to be nominated in time, would it? Treasure was released in early 2007, but wasn't nominated till the next May. I'm assuming the timing of a release has something to do with it, right? So, you think the novelty of Hayley's Ennio Morricone collaboration will have faded so much by then, that they couldn't possibly want her to sing anything from it? Sure, it'll be over a year since its release, but still, it just doesn't seem fair. I'm sure Laura is a nice singer, but still... What makes you so sure they wouldn't want both of them to perform, anyway? I just don't see how they could not want Hayley to perform her beautiful songs, no matter who else is performing.

Calm down Libby, we just don't know yet. And I agree it would be an injustice if Hayley's work on Paradiso wasn't recognised. And much as I like Laura, I consider Hayley a much better singer and a much more innovative artist.
But these things are set up jobs anyway. Hayley has never ever been given the promotoion that her talent would justify. We can speculate on the reasons for that, it might actually be Hayley's wish - have you thought of that?
Also it is the Classical Brtis, and Hayley of course is not a Brit. Although she has performed there in the past.
So let's wait and see what happens eh?

No, I haven't thought of it. That's just silly. If Hayley doesn't sing on the show, it won't be her decision. However, she probably wouldn't be half as offended about it as I would. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Or at least she wouldn't act offended, she would be as nice about it as usual. I might not be, though. LOL If a Kiwi's albums can be nominated for the C Brit awards, then that shouldn't stop them from letting her sing, or win, either. But I suppose there could be some prejudice when they choose the winner.

Hello Libby and Martin D! BRIT stands for British Record Industry Trust, so there's no requirement for the nominees and performers to be British by birth. Past performers have included Anna Netrebko from Russia, Rolando Villazon from Mexico and Lang Lang from China, while Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko won the Male Artist of the Year award in 2010, presented by Hayley. Here's the Trust's website: www.brittrust.co.uk/Richard

Hi All, I havebooked now too, I went for H5 seat 23, not too far from where we all sat 3 years ago. I am glad it was not May but It's still going to be a bit of a rush for me as I will be flying off to the Airbus factory in Toulouse the following day. I hope she wins an award, and I hope she sings, but I just hope she is there so that we can support her whatever the outcome! see you all there Steve H
