I see Katherine as a perfectionist in her chosen art, so it's no surprise she would seek to excel at another.

This is a very clever move by Katherine and her management. I am not in the least surprised to see Katherine doing well in this. Anyone who has seen her collaboration with Darcy Bussell on Viva la Diva will realize she had a head start on everyone else.
An album released in the early stages say about week 4 should profit from the exposure even if later in the series others improve and surpass her.
Do they, like our Strictly Come Dancing, do a tour after the series? If so Katherine might be able to get a song or two on the show to further advance her profile.

I wonder if Hayley can dance, It doesn't matter at this point whether Katherine wins, the American people already fell in love with her almost like Jackie Evancho after her third song on AGT everyone knew we wouldn't hear the last from her, Katherine's CD seals are going up in the USA. Almost 20 million people watch that show.

Hi Ricky,
Yes. we know Hayley can dance. She was a member of the New Zealand Royal Ballet until she gave it up to concentrate on her singing. Not quite the same thing as ballroom dancing I'll grant you. But she obviously has talent in that direction.
However, I'm much less sure that Hayley would want to devote that much time to dancing. Or trying to raise her profile in the USA or wherever. Or that she would be happy wearing those skimpy costumes.
Singing is what Hayley loves. Those who love great voices will discover her eventually. And so long as she can continue to sing and perform, and sufficient people buy her records to make her recording career viable, she is happy. That is already happening - those in the know understand that she is music's best kept secret. And I think she is comfortable with that.

...Yes. we know Hayley can dance. She was a member of the New Zealand Royal Ballet until she gave it up to concentrate on her singing. ... That fact alone would disqualify Hayley from DWTS because it gives her an unfair advantage. They select only stars without formal training. If Hayley was good enough to earn a spot on the NZRB at a young age, you just know she'd be a dancing superstar if she set her intention on it. That advantage is exactly what shows like DWTS go out of their way to avoid.

Oh really, Steve? Do you not remember that Kristi Yamaguchi, an Olympic gold medalist in figure skating, won the show a few years ago? Don't try to tell me figure skating isn't anything like dancing, because it is very much like dancing. So, maybe she wasn't experienced in ballroom dancing, but then, neither is Hayley, that we know of. But the skating probably gave her an artistic advantage, yet she was still allowed on the show. Ballet would have the same effect. So, no, Hayley's ballet should not disqualify her. She probably would never be asked anyway, in the US, at least, and she probably wouldn't want to do it, maybe not even in NZ or the UK. Maybe when she's 50, or something. LOL Anyway, I'd rather that she just sing on the show, that's what she does best. But apparently my letter was too late for this season. I thought it probably would be, and I knew Hayley would most likely have other things going at that time anyway, but I had to try just in case. Oh well, there's always next season, probably starting in September.

Kristi Yamaguchi had an unfair advantage and everybody knew it. Not surprisingly they have kept artists of her level out ever since.
Katherine Jenkins might have taken dance as a child, but she's not nearly as athletic as Olympian powerhouse Kristi was. She may win because she's well disciplined and looks awesome.
Hayley would fall somewhere in between the two. She's not overpowering, like Kristi and she's probably more graceful than Katherine. KJ's partner in the competition does all the hard work and she just keeps up with it competently. Her natural beauty adds a lot to the impression, for sure.

Katherine actually did a UK tour called Viva la Diva. IIRC she danced professionally as well as sang. It involved ballerina Darcy Bussell, who had to sing whilst Katherine danced.
I'm not surprised she is doing so well. And no, I don't think she should be disqualified. Good luck to her. She is clearly multi-talented.
