Hi Martin, Ross and Belinda saw this two part mini-series last year on NZ TV and all the details are in this thread. Seek and ye shall find... Just watched the second part of the mini series of Flood shown in New Zealand and Hayley was heard quite a few times especially during any sad bits and at the end of the programme. I saw her name in the end credits. She was excellent, very haunting. Cheers, Dave

What I wasn't expecting was the impact of Hayley's haunting vocals - introduced for the first time about 105 minutes in and with perfect timing. Hi Grant and everyone! I believe this scene took place in the underground. Hayley's voice just fit the scene perfectly!

Just as you realise... the poor guy isn't going to make it, there's Hayley with this amazingly haunting vocal and a sad scene is immediately turned into an incredibly emotional one.
I needed a tissue then and, thinking about it now, better go and find another!Best wishes Grant

Well, we got the final part tonight. We heard from Hayley several times, and her voice always comes in at moments of high emotion. I found I could predict when it would happen. Debbie is to be congratulated, she scored the music brilliantly. But I wonder how many of those who watched it know who owns that haunting voice. Probably not one in a thousand! It is always thus with Hayley it seems, she never gets the credit for the wonderful things she does. Perhaps the musical establishment don't like her independent streak. There seems to be something in British culture,,that refuses to recognise individual brilliance. For me, that makes me admire her even more.
This is what were are up against my friends.

Not many people will even look at the credits of a movie or even a TV show. When "Flood" was shown over here last autumn, the credits were too tiny to be seen. Joe

Hello Joe and everyone I didn't watch the mini series on TV as I've only just watched the DVD. However, I was switching through channels just before the end and decided to watch the last 5 minutes with Hayley's amazing vocals during the final scene. I was disgusted that as soon as the credits began, and whilst Hayley was still singing, some moron of an announcer decided to talk about 'Floodline'!! I switched her off in disgust!!!!!!! Best wishes Grant

Whenever I go to the cinema (not often) I always stay in my seat until all the credits and the music have finished whilst other cinema goers invariably get up and leave. I find it as rude as walking into a concert the see the main act when the support act is performing. I do not know what is at the end of this recording (it should take two hours to get to the end of the second reel). But for anyone who was out on Sunday or Monday, the nice people at ITV recorded it for you. Flood 1 and 2

Joe Hi Joe Well, they zoomed past pretty quick here and were quite small - I have only hearsay to tell me that Hayley's name was among them. I certainly couldn't read them all quickly enough. But that was Hayley's voice all right, I could never mistake her. I always say to anyone, if you have to ask whether that is Hayley you just heard, it isn't. That being said, I have a friend who is in my car share group, who always asks whenever I play a CD in the car on the way to work that has a female singer, whether it is Hayley. This is everything from Katherine Jenkins, Sandy Denny, Annie Haslam, Lesley Garrett, Sarah Brightman, you name it. (Sometimes it actually is Hayley, but most of those I mention sound nothing like her to my ears. Some people must be half deaf!). But back on topic, yes, I like to know who is behind the soundtrack for a movie or TV programme. I think I am a very sound oriented person, to me the music can be more important than the pictures or dialogue. I sometimes watch a film and afterwards have no idea of the plot, but can tell people quite a lot about the music! Doesn't that make me sad!? Martin

I've got the DVD, but I can't watch it unless I'm wearing a lifejacket! Richard Didn't know the DVD was available. Thanks for the info. I thought it was about to be broadcast and I was put out by the fact it was on one of the narrow channels rather than mainstream. Hopefully it will repeat soon on a publicly populated channel Peter S.
