Hello everyone! Well after today's exciting announcements by Hayley on Close Up (TVNZ) and in news releases by the official website of the Rugby World Cup I think it's time for an update in this thread. We currently have two main threads about the RWC, this general one (now renamed) and another in the Albums section about the World In Union official album in which Hayley does of course also take part. Here is a summary of what I think has been officially confirmed so far: 1. Hayley has recorded versions of the World In Union official song in five languages: English, Maori, French, Italian and Japanese.
2. The English version is the theme song of ITV's coverage of the RWC in the UK.
3. Hayley's World In Union will be played at every match in the RWC.
4. Hayley will sing one of the National Anthems before the final in Auckland (Will Martin the other).
5. If the All Blacks reach the final, Hayley will sing the NZ National anthem and Will Martin the other (they played paper scissors stone to decide!).
6. Hayley's World In Union will feature on the official RWC album World in Union (see separate thread) in English and Maori.
7. You can listen to Hayley's version of World In Union here on the RWC's official website: World In Union .mp3 All I can say after that lot is... WOW!!! Dave

Dave Thanks for the link Dave i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifOnly just managed to listen - my goosebumps had goosebumps from beginning to end - this song really suits Hayley's voice and I can't begin to imagine what effect it's going to have on all the rugby fans who will be hearing it time after time. AMAZING! Best wishes Grant

That's a very nice song, and even nicer with Hayley singing it, of course.

Well I thought I'd heard it all. Heard that song many times but NEVER like that! Hayley has made it her own. Absolutely gorgeous. It is going to win her new fans for sure. It is worth getting the World Cup album just for that! Well done Hayley!

So, is the song really going to be played at the Rugby games themselves, in person, or do they just mean each time ITV shows the games on TV, they're going to play it? Or is it both? It really would be great if they play it at the games themselves, too.

Hello folks! Both versions of 'World In Union' are fantastic, so I'm going to post a direct link to the Universal New Zealand site on our Facebook page. Richard

Thanks mlb, I'll add the link to our website article too! The Maori version is almost identical in artistic quality to the English language version but in one or two places, it is better! Simba mentioned the triplet at 1m 41s, which is fantastic and does not occur on the English version... but the final note too sounds better on the Maori version because its timing is fractionally better, it's fantastic! Cheers, Dave

The website seems only to have part of the English version now. It had the whole thing yesterday, and the whole of the Maori version is there too.
Don't worry guys, I still intend to buy the CD!

Of course I didn't think they meant Hayley was actually going to be performing live. If she were there, then they wouldn't need to play it! Except maybe the backing track.
