Here's Mary-Jess singing "Did I Make the Most of Loving You?" and "Glorious" in Trafalgar Square last Sunday: And here's her performance of "Chun Tian de Ba Lei": Richard

Couldn't think of a better line up for a concert! I love them both. Both absolutely amazing. I've seen Pip several times before and she has a wonderful pure voice. This will be my first time seeing Mary-Jess which I am really looking forward to!

I just received “Shine.” OH MY GOODNESS. This has to be one of the most beautiful, unique crossover albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. The Chinese influence, and the fact that all the songs are original, is really what makes this album stand out. A truly innovative and creative album, that will no doubt be a regular occupant in my CD player for many years to come. -Taylor

I don't think they're all written by Mary Jess, though several are. But they are definitely all way more unique than most crossover albums. Though I'm not actually sure whether it is, since there's not really anything technically classical on there. That first song Are You the Way Home is certainly very unique and different. I also really like Lighthouse of Mine and Glorious. Oh, and Everything Can Wait.

Glad you have seen the light, Taylor - or heard it at least Before my 3 CD autochanger broke, Shine was in there constantly for about a year. Libby, to call all the songs original doesn't mean that Mary-Jess wrote them all. Here is a better version of 'Spring Ballet' for you to enjoy, recorded on her recent visit to China

Just checked - of the 12 tracks, Mary-Jess helped write 7, 4 are originals unique to “Shine,” and 1 cover (Yue Guang Ai Ren). Very different from most crossover albums, where the artist might help write a track or two, maybe one original beyond that, and the rest are covers. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I hope to see her perform live next month. She is one I've had my eye on for quite a while. And like Hayley, has Far East connections.

Rebecca Newman and Mary-Jess will be performing in a joint headline concert in Stroud on Saturday 13th December in aid of The-Door Youth-Project!
Of course this is the same date as Hayley's Cork concert.
Drat!

I went to see Mary-Jess at the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal concert at Lydney Town Hall, Gloucestershire last Sunday. Mary-Jess only sang four songs, plus leading the singing of the Land of Hpe and Glory, Jerusalem and the National Anthem, but it was a very enjoyable concert. The Air Training Corps put on a superb drum display, absolutely wonderful, and the Cinderford Town (Brass) Band were pretty goof too. A thoroughly enjoyable concert. If you want to support Mary-Jess yo can do so on Artistsignal. She is currently lying fourth, but would value your votes. The big push for a win will be next month, and the top prize is $10,000, which she can use to help finance her next album, as Rebecca Newman did when she won it a year ago. you can register and vote hereMartin D

Thanks for the news and report, Martin. I would have loved to go myself, but had already booked for the 'Educate the World' charity launch event near Windsor, with Eden and Scarlett Quigley.

Mary-Jess is attempting to win ArtistSignal this month, May 2015. This has a prize of $10,000 to help finance her next album. For me it took a long time to get into Mary-Jess. She is quite subtle and understated, and took a while to grow on me. These days I love her music, I am listening to her album as I type this. There is a beautiful delicate touch about some of her songs than few can emulate. So give her a listen. If you like her you can help to bring her next album about. As an independent artist she has to raise the finance herself. An ArtistSignal win would help a lot. Having heard her a couple of times live recently, I can say that she has improved and developed a lot since her album "Shine", wonderful though it is, it did win Classical Crossover UK's album of the year when it came out. If you would like to support Mary-Jess you can do so by registering with ArtistSignal. You can then vote for her once an hour. There is a new competition every month, and Mary-Jess is currently lying second after 18 hours of this month's competition. She needs a few more votes to start to close the gap and hopefully open up a lead. You can register and vote at artistsignal.com/referrer/135669 ArtistSignal can help up and coming artists a lot. Only one UK artist has ever won it. The album it helped finance reached no 1 in the Classical chart, and her career is going from strength to strength. I would dearly love the same to happen to Mary-Jess, although she is a very different type of singer to Rebecca Newman. Please help if you can. Martin D
