Oh that's brilliant Thanks for the quick response! (Watching that video again and again made me realize how beauitful she was on that video XD....so quickly took a screen when she said "Love wil...." it was so amazing, and made an avatar XD...ofcourse added some earings, and a sleeve on one side as it looked weird without any sleeves with the pic cut like this XD....that hairstyle totally rocks, she should start making it her usual hairstyle for concerts)

Thank you Jillian, I had decided not to buy either the NZ or the Japanese but to wait for the UK release. I weakened when I saw this post and listened to the samples.

Hello Jillian, or may I call you Wonder Woman? As you can probably guess, I've just linked to your post on our Facebook page, so Hayley's sales of the Japanese edition of Paradiso should double! Best wishes, Richard

While I think the Jap. cover is gorgeous, I think I still prefer the full shot with the fountain, not just her face. It seems to help illustrate the "Paradiso" aspect of the album. The Italian theme.
I notice her lip color on this cover is lighter than the others too. I guess the brighter lipstick would've stood out too much on her face with it that close up, or something.

Jillian et al. I have listened to the Japanese edition samples on my tacky laptop speakers. Hayley's voice seems to be more clearly set in the foreground, very warm and close, G-d it sounds good. (Or are we just used to the songs now ? ) But it does seem to sound different. Glad I pre ordered a copy from Cd Japan , Once upon a time, long, long ago..

I must say I was a bit disappointed with the Amazing Grace clip. The first part sounds great, but the the part I was always amazed with in the HSJS recording did not amaze me here. She's not singing as high, or either that, or she's doing something different with her voice that isn't nearly as amazing. It doesn't quite compare with her recording with Minako Honda, and especially not the recent performances, where she sounded absolutely incredible. I'm not saying I don't like it at all, don't get me wrong. It's just that I've always been wishing for a solo recording of this version of Amazing Grace. Now that there finally is one, so far it appears I'm still going to like the duet better. The quality of her voice here is just not quite the one I fell in love with. Yet all the rest of the songs on Paradiso are gorgeous. I just don't understand. She's perfectly capable of singing it as gorgeously as she's done so many times before. So, what's different about this?

I find it quite interesting that those who are normally most vocal about audio quality and have the capability of being able to compare digital audio files visibly on screen have made no comment about the Japanese samples.

I agree with Libby about the Amazing grace, it almost sounds like it doesn't have as much power and emotion that it had in the much recent concerts where she sang it. It's like she's singing it kind of childish...but when the english bit starts she sounds perfectly amazing though XD...although it fades off in a few seconds.

Yes, the beginning and end sound fine. I guess it's what you might call the climax of the Japanese lyric. I don't know the words, but it sounds kind of like "...ka-washi-wa.. oo-ta-Ooooh". It's that "oo-ta-Oooh" that was a bit ruined for me, compared to the first recording. In the HSJS recording, it's one of the most beautiful, amazing notes Hayley has ever sung. You're right, it almost does sound childish. Weird. It sounds so terrible to say that, but it's true. Almost Winter Magic vocals, like in Chestnuts, which I really don't like.

Exactly that portion but I didn't think you thought of the same as well....when she sings Kuo mo, Watashi wa "Oootaoooo" she usually takes a nice amount of breath before ootaooo and makes it sound really powerful and emotional, after a very short break from Watashi wa, here she just abruptly sings Ootaooo immediately after wa, without any stress/or giving important to that portion and sounds very flat instead of how rounded it sounded (LOL at the rhyme) in the recent concerts and the HSJS version. If I had to something nice about it, well it gave me as smile when she hit that note as I found it was kinda baby'ish and cute XD.... This kind of thing I noticed in Metti Una Cena Sera as well, when she says Strani Luna "Looooo", it was really cute XD but since we had nothing to compare and it was the first version I listened to, I loved it.

I see what you guys are saying, it's almost like there is not enought support on that part, which is strange for Hayley. It also sounds breathy which it doesn't usually, she has definately sung it better in the past.

I didn't notice any notes like that in Metti.
However, in some of the Battle of Britain concert recordings I heard, her voice was kind of that way on a lot of the songs. Enough so that I was starting to worry about how the new album recordings were going to sound. Fortunately, it all sounds like "normal Hayley", except for that. Of course it probably wasn't recorded at the same time as the rest of the album, but I don't see why that should've made much difference.

You don't know how much I was worrying about that too XD....But something tells me if it wasn't for the Ennio collab, anyother album would've been like how she was going about...but I'm pretty sure Ennio encouraged that she has got a wonderful voice and that deviating from it's purity even at the slightest would not be a good choice. Hence why Paradiso is such a dream come true XD
And the metti thing is fine actually because 1. we haven't heard it sung differently and 2. it actually matches the mood and it's quite awesome and makes me smile all the time XD when she hits that note (Luna loooo XD)

Hello everyone
I make a point never to listen to samples - preferring to wait until I can hear the whole album and the complete tracks in context. BUT, I am sure that whatever Amazing Grace sounds like on the Japanese pressing, there will be a reason for it and Hayley will have OK'd it.
Best wishes Grant
