Question:
Marbeck's says they won't charge your card until a product is in stock. So, if my card isn't charged yet, that just means the CD isn't in stock yet, right? They won't get it in stock till the 18th (or maybe the 17th)? That's probably a dumb question, but since my card is ready to expire, I'm just worried. Especially with the uncertainty with the Australian magazine, too.

Hi, Anshita, If you mean brand new songs composed by Ennio for the album, well, I have done some research and the only ones that may be totally new (not found evidence of having appeared anyewhere else) are: Per Natale, Lezione Di Musica and The Edge Of Love. For the first one, I am pretty sure it's new (another christmas song, we will have deja vus of Winter Magic). As for Lezione Di Musica, well, I only found it mentioned in this article, which is in Italian, and, as far as I understand, the "Lezione di Musica" is dedicated to Aldo Clemente, who passed away, and it is attributed to Guido Zaccagnini with the help of Ennio Morricone and two other people. However, I am not sure it is referring to any kind of piece of music or it is just a lesson. There's audio available for that article, it's 1 hour long, I am listening to it and for now, the first five minutes are without any music, just interviews... I wonder if there will be any music, and if there's really a piece called "Lezione di musica" there. For now, it doesn't seem so, but if it appears to be so, maybe it's something different, or maybe Ennio took his part of the composition for Hayley... So, for now it is unclear, but I'd go it is new. And for The Edge of Love, I found a whole album, which seems to be a soundtrack from a film, however, the album is attributed to Angelo Badalamenti, not Ennio, and no song in the tracklist called "The Edge of Love" or "Main theme". If it is an entirely Ennio Morricone album, this must be new, but would be a weird coincidence... Who knows, maybe Ennio composed one song for the film afterall... Does anyone know? As for the rest, I found clear evidence there are not new compositions. Gabriel's Oboe (The Mission), the 2 from Cinema Paradiso, la Califfa, Once Upon a Time in the West and Deborah's Theme (Once Upon a Time in America) are all very well-known from their movies. Metti Una Sera A Cena is less known, but also a song for an Italian 1969 movie of the same title (in the original, there's voice, but no lyrics). Da Quel Sorriso Che Non Ride Piu is a very, very nice song sung by Mireille Mathieu (VERY, VERY BEAUTIFUL, I can't imagine how heavenly it will sound in Hayley's voice). Amalia Por Amor is in Portuguese and is originally from Dulce Pontes' collaboration with Ennio. Here's to you is originally sung by Joan Baez for the Italian movie Sacco e Vanzettti. Malena is also from a 2000 movie of the same title, the most recent one on the tracklist coming from a movie, Michal THANKS for that, Michal!!! Very interesting and informational.

Pre-ordered it as well.
I guess Hayley will be vocalising in Once Upon A Time In The West, I can't imagine writing lyrics to that. But the thought itself that she will perform this beautiful piece sends shivers down my spine...

Hi Tom, Everything is possible, on the album "Focus" by Ennio and Dulce Pontes "Once Upon A Time In The West" is the melody for "Your Love" and is sung in English, it exists another version sung in Portuguese which I think is only available on the Portuguese version of the album. The audio is not very good, but here are two examples of the two versions sung live. "Your Love" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm4vgmOEKM8"Amor a Portugal" (which means something like "Love for Portugal") www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFHs_Yj_v2oBut the thought itself that she will perform this beautiful piece sends shivers down my spine... I just pre-ordered my NZ copy.
I hope the sheer volume of international pre-orders will encourage Universal to promote Paradiso properly, especially here in the US.

Hi Spidey,
I would ask the question - will Decca actually know where the orders came from? The likes of Marbecks, HMV and Amazon might, but not sure they would pass that sort of information on to Decca.
Oh, and if an album is lready top of the pre-order charts, and bound to be a huge hit why spend a lot on promotion. In a situation like that, it will sell itself!!

Yeah, MartinD, I guess in New Zealand, Hayley doesn't need a huge amounnt of promotion to sell her albums there. Is there any of her international albums that was not a nº 1 in the NZ charts?

Hi spiderman and everyone, I wouldn't be concerned about the current lack of promotion in NZ, the main push will come later in the month when (as we have known for some time) Hayley will be there herself to promote it. I don't know exactly when Hayley will be there and it may well be after the release date but if so, I would still expect to see some promotional activity towards the end of this week. This pattern (if it happens like that) may take the edge of the first week sales of Paradiso but it should strengthen sales in the following few weeks. My guess is that Decca will not decide how much to spend promoting it in other Countries until they see how well it does in NZ. As for the effect of orders from overseas that one or two people have mentioned, yes these will help via the preorder lists of shops like Marbecks, and by encouraging them to order more stock. The overseas sales may not have any impact on the charts as they may be excluded, but Decca will get to know either from RIANZ via the chart returns of individual shops (even if excluded from the chart) or indirectly because shops will have to re-stock sooner. So all the orders by foreigners like me will help in some way. Cheers, Dave

It's actually better than I thought it would be, although I don't like the lady's voice very much. But I'm starting to believe that this piece may work with lyrics. Especially if the singer is named Hayley Westenra. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif-Tom
