I love this album! I don't know if I'd call it the best album, because all of them are wonderful. They all have beautiful songs, and they all really impressed me on first hearing them. They're all wonderful in a different way, though. This is really an impressive album, though.

I got my New Zealand version CD a couple of days ago from Marbecks. After the first listen, I have to admit I was in two minds about this album.
It reminded me a little of Paul Potts' second album, Passione. After listening I thought, why the need for so many Italian tracks? Likewise with Paradiso.
Hayley's previous albums had, I thought, a nice ratio of English songs to Maori/Italian/German etc songs. I thought maybe this was a bit too much on this occasion.
But after a few more listens to Paradiso, its really beginning to grow on me. The music and vocals are fantastic. And the amount of Italian lyrics isn't as much as I once thought.
Yes, I know, I know, shame on me. I should have known that Hayley wouldn't let us down.

Hi I-H-F, We've known for well over a year that it would be a collaboration with Ennio Morricone, are you saying that you'd have preferred it not to be this kind of (inevitably) Italian-themed collaboration? Just wondering. But either way, I'm glad that it's growing on you now! Cheers, Dave

Cheers, Dave To be honest, other than his involvement in the Spaghetti Westerns (of which I think I have only seen one), I don't know much about Ennio Morricone or his music. I guess I was expecting some sort of Italian theme, but I think it was during the first listen, that it seemed more than it actually is.

I think there is more Italian on Paradiso than she's ever had on a single album before, so maybe that's why it seemed like a lot. And one is in Portuguese, but it doesn't sound very much like Italian to me.

Hi IHF
Actually only four of the 14 songs are in Italian. Seven are in English, one in French, one in Portuguese, one in Vocalese and one in international language. And if you wonder why that adds up to 15, it is because one track, La Califfa, counts as both English and Italian.
Considering that this was an Italian themed album, I don't think that that is excessive.

But 4 is the most Italian songs on one album she's ever done, I'm pretty sure. Usually she only has 1 or 2.
