It did go on for a long time, despite urgency, Hayley very kindly gave us her attention and for very real serious reasons her staff had to push her along faster than she wanted. Tim had a plane to catch at Heathrow! I'm in my hotel lounge anxious to grab what looks like being a lovely day and have left my programme three flights above me, so sorry, I'm not seriously posting today. All I'll say is that everyone was up to the Hayley standard. So was Hayley and there was some fantastic music. Hayley was looking bright eyed and busy tailed and thoroughly enjoying herself. We had a good meal together and I think we all enjoyed the camaraderie that arises whoever makes up the the hwi grouping. I'm sure Grant will entertain details when he gets home later today, perhaps tonight he'll post. But, we have already started. I did yesterday morning! General description of venue! It really is extraordinary how an interaction with Hayley can be so uplifting. I'm feeling quite gutted I shan't see her again before March 2012 but on the other hand I feel quite invigorated from having heard her live again. However good the recording, hearing her live still can't be beaten and even a glimpse of her before or after is a stupendous adrenalin boost. Peter S. |

Thanks for sharing.  I find it funny that they refer to the choir as an "it". A choir is a "they", normally. Yeah, and "choir" is spelled funny, too. A more phonetic approach —"quire" — would be nice. Actually, an adult male voice choir like this should work very well for Hayley. I have a hard time distinguishing her voice in performance with boy choirs and mixed choirs. |

Footy, Racing and a HayleydayMy Saturday began much the same as it did last week but without the rain! Quite a different train journey though compared to the peaceful run to Cardiff – today I have two changes, the first at Crewe and the second at Chester. Very busy as well owing to a football ‘Derby’ at Crewe and race day at Chester but thankfully the train was quiet for the rest of my journey and we arrived into Llandudno a few minutes early at noon. It was nice to find Paul and Paddy waiting on the station to meet me, although I hadn’t expected them to be in Paul’s car so, almost before I’d had time to thank them, I was being deposited outside my hotel to check in! That done, and only 20 minutes after stepping onto the platform at the station, I’m at Venue Cymru in readiness for Hayley’s arrival. John is already there and we are soon joined by Peter (postscript). A little while later we are joined by Abigail and her family. At Ebbw Vale, Hayley and the tour bus had arrived quite early and we are hoping that we won’t have to wait too long today. As we wait patiently, our excitement building as anything black remotely resembling what we are looking for passes, the distant hills disappear behind menacing clouds and the sky darkens. Well, you know what they say about Wales don’t you? If you can see the sheep, it’s going to rain. If you can’t see the sheep, it is raining! Sure enough, it started to rain, sending us scurrying for the stage door canopy. Fortunately the stage doorman seemed happy to tolerate our presence so we were able to keep dry. The rain did stop in time for Hayley’s arrival at around 3.15pm and she jumped out of the tour bus with her familiar greeting of “Hi Guys!”. “Good win Hayley?” I said as she approached, referring to the morning’s rugby; her answer confirming that she already knew the result which was, no doubt, partly responsible for the gleeful look on her face. Having chatted with us for a few minutes and posed for a family picture with Abigail and her mum and dad and signed the obligatory CD inserts on offer, she was keen to get inside, leaving us to amble slowly down the promenade in the now very warm late evening sun in search of food. The Wetherspoon’s here – Y Paladywm (The Palladium) is, as it’s name suggests, a converted theatre; in fact, the circle and upper circle have been retained intact complete with original seating as has much of the auditorium decoration. Watered and fed, we head back towards the venue and/or to change for the concert as the case may be. I found myself back at Venue Cymru at around 6.15pm with the theatre foyer and bars already buzzing and the approaches busy with cars and taxis. Pleased to see HWI member Andy has made it (you kept that quiet mate!) as has Eugene and his lady – Eugene having made a five and a half hour dash across Ireland to get the flight over. The are virtually no seats left empty in the 1400 seater auditorium as start time draws ever closer....... ........... and there's more i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
