How were Hayley and Sophie able to attend the barbecue- did Prince William invite her? And if so, was that simply because she's a prominent celebrity in New Zealand, or because PW likes her, or both? Whoops, that was 2 questions! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI have been slowly coming round to the conclusion that Hayley; profile - perhaps her street cred within the industry itself - is significantly higher than I had given her credit for in the past. It wouldnt surprise me at all were she to be invited to this event

With all the nasty unrest in London over tuition hikes and shocking displays of animosity toward the Royal family I'd be a little reluctant to get too involved at this point. I think Hayley should sit this one out, don't you?

Hi Steve, The student protests won't be still going on by then, but even if they are, the small minority of disrespectful and violent trouble makers who inevitably infiltrated the student ranks will undoubtedly be kept a long way from the proceedings. If you are invited to take part in an event like this, you accept. No ifs or buts! Dave

Exactly, well said Dave.
A few troublemakers can get huge media coverage, especially if they are violent. That doesn't mEan they speak for the majority. They are just a group of thugs trying to bully the goverment into doing their bidding.
There are always those who love a good punch up with the police, who will align themselves with whatever is the protest issue of the day. And although I have always been against the idea of tuition fees, and si have sympathy with the protests, I totally deplore the actions of the violent minority.
Yes, there are a few who are against the monarchy. But I don't think it is a majority by any means. I'm sure Hayley isn't one of them, and I'm sure she would be delighted if she were asked to perform at this wedding. And I for one would love to see that happen. I even feel a warm glow myself when I remember that they will be married on our own wedding anniversary, 29th April.

Hi Martind,
Also, I'm sure when the time comes and a 4 day holiday beckons in the UK -- only the most miserable people will be complaining! :rollin
Cheers, Jillian

I think Hayley should sit this one out, don't you? No. I'm sure the security at this wedding is going to be quite substantial as it is, so if they think there's any threat from troublemakers, I'm sure they'll be extra careful. Plus, if those people involved in the tuition stuff did happen to show up, they would be after the monarchs, not the singers. They may be angry, but I wouldn't think they would be serious enough to injure everyone at the whole event, just for tuition. If Hayley sings at the actual wedding ceremony, that might be more concerning, but I bet she would be in the concert, not the ceremony. I would imagine, or at least hope, that the security would be able to handle them, either way. Hopefully the protestors will have calmed down by then, too. Of course, she did say "no" to Victoria Beckham once, but the royal wedding is a little different. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Don't over react to a little hiccup. There was a minor riot and a window was down that ought not to have been--probably because the Duchess wanted a f*g. These things happen periodically. Princess Anne was held up by a gunman a few years back. When he opened the car door pointing a gun at her and telling her to get out she just stared him in the face and told him to go away. Eventually he did.
A few years before, the Queen, while riding a horse in a ceremonial parade was challenged by a gunman. Being the superb horse-woman she is, she was of course more concerned about calming a frightened horse than giving a damn for the gunman. Over here we have a clear sense of what is important--one simply does NOT frighten the horses! Or are cruel to other animals great or small. Peter S.

Libby,
I can only guess at the NZ barbecue, but it seems likely that Hayley would be invited for a few reasons:
* She's probably NZ's most famous star (So NZ will want her there). * She's seriously active supporting the British Armed Forces. * She regularly performs at royal events.
Any or all of those mean it might be considered a snub NOT to invite her, as she is most definitely in good standing with the royal family.
Worth remembering that 'HM Forces' is no lie. The royal family are patrons of the armed forces and the Queen is not just their titular but their actual head. As such, doing a lot of the things Hayley does is a very good way to get their approval.

As for security at the wedding, I suspect it'll be so tight that the air itself will need a triple A security pass to get into the building! There will be more important people gathered there than any other place in the world next year, barring the unexpected. Anyone stupid enough to draw down the wrath of the security forces at that place will doubtless run into more than they can handle - or would want to! IF Hayley is there, I'm sure she will be quite safe.

And Hayley could look them in the face and start singing, and maybe they would calm down. :rollin Yes, at the very least, you want to keep the horse calm so you don't fall off, if nothing else.

Hi Libby, It's a three letter slang word for cigarette, in the UK at least. But as it has alternative meanings that some people might find offensive, it's found its way into the Proboards list of censored words, hence the (admittedly rather feeble) asterisk in the middle! So yes indeed, opened for fresh air. Dave

Hello everyone
I'm surprised no one has picked up on this, but I heard on TV the other evening that William and Kate have stated that they don't want wedding presents but have requested donations to charity instead.
It strikes me that if the the Royal Couple are keen to be seen supporting charitable causes, then they are likely to look in that direction for their concert performers. That surely has to favour Hayley.
Best wishes Grant

Grant, I would've definitely picked up on it, if I'd heard it. I find myself very attentive when news of the royal wedding comes on, not because I'm so interested in the couple themselves, but only because I'm always looking for clues as to whether Hayley could be involved. Otherwise, the wedding would interest me very little.

I wonder how soon they'll reveal any of the more famous guests (besides the obvious), or whether there really will be a concert afterwards, or anything that would tell us whether Hayley will be there or not? Or will we not know until the wedding day itself? It will be airing at 3am my time, so it would be nice to know whether I should bother recording it or not. And after Hayley does the benefit concerts in NZ, I wonder if she'll go back to London before her originally-planned visit in May, or would she just stay? I would guess she would stay, unless of course she really did have a royal wedding to attend.
