When Prince Charles married Lady Diana in 1981, a wonderful Kiwi singer named Kiri Te Kanawa was there to perform a beautiful aria by Handel and was heard by an estimated 600 million people.
In the spring of 2011 Prince William will be marrying Kate Middleton in a ceremony certain to be watched by over a billion people worldwide.
Wouldn't it be great if Hayley — also a wonderful Kiwi singer — were to perform at the Royal wedding? I can think of no other event that would catapult her to more lasting fame.

She's not the only one. Aled Jones said at his show tonight that he was waiting by the phone for the call!

Hi everyone, It would be an incredible occassion if Hayley was invited to perform at the wedding, but I guess it all depends on the personal preference of Prince Willliam and Kate - and if they even want musical performances at their wedding. At any rate, it'll be a great day for everyone in the Commonwealth and also for anyone else who is interested in the royal family. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I'm already starting my countdown. I'm very excited for the royal couple! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Cheers, Jillian

How can they NOT have musical performance at a wedding of this magnitude?? Keep in mind they have to hold a world audience, so some worthy entertainment is in order. You'll see. To my mind there's no one better than Hayley for this assignment.

At least the Queen seems to like her, so maybe she'll make the suggestion. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThanks, Spiderman. I wonder if her new management would have any say in something like this? Do you think it would do any good to contact them, as well? I was going to write to them about the Mormon tabernacle and Japanese skating shows, anyway, so while I'm at it, I suppose I could include this, too.

Introduce yourself, putting the suggestion to them in the context of your wider interest in hayley's career. point out she has sung for the queen on several occasions and it might be nice and appropriate thought for her to sing at the impending royal wedding. i suggest that you try and inspire them to suggest it rather than suggest it yourself. people tend to be more receptive to new ideas if they think they thought of them themselves. this isnt a case of getting an elf into a palace but a palace into an elf. [omg, that actually made sense]. the spiderman

I think your comment very wise, spiderman.
The last thing the palace wants is to be thought of as a promoter of any particular person's talent. The argument will be that in using Hayley (were they to invite her to be available) it is part of a Commonwealth wide representational initiative.
I think this is a situation in which supporting Hayley is best left to keeping very quiet.

I'm sure Prince Harry will put in a good word. He met Hayley at the Friends of the Forces Awards earlier this year. Richard

Spiderman, you mean a Tolkien elf, don't you? And didn't Hayley and her sister meet William in NZ earlier this year? I seem to remember him wearing a feathered cloak of some sort. Also, since both William and Harry are in the military, and the Queen herself participated in war efforts, it seems as though they might appreciate a performance by the new "Forces Sweetheart/Songbird". But maybe they'll just invite somebody the bride likes. I just remembered that Hayley's new album should be out by the time of the wedding! So that means she could sing something from that - an Ennio Morricone song! Okay, the message is definitely going to take some thought. Plus, if they're not getting married till spring or summer, that should give me plenty of time. I will welcome all the input and advice anyone can give me. I'm having trouble thinking of how to present the idea without making it a suggestion. Maybe I shouldn't be the one to do it.

This was back in January. You're right...the prince was wearing traditional Maori dress. hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Media&action=display&thread=5235Best wishes!! Joe

I agree, it would be wonderful if Hayley was chosen, but best not to push it too hard or they might react against it.
There are other considerations too. Since they are "Waleses" perhaps they might want someone Welsh to sing.
Perhaps Hayley won't be around at the right time, we know she is planning overseas tours for next year.
Has either William or Kate ever heard Hayley sing?
It seems likely that the music to be performed will be chosen by the couple or the Palace, not by the singer.
But I really hope she does get to do it. We all know she would be perfect.
