I'm sorry to tell you, Steve, but many people might view Hayley as someone who would perform "solemn hymns". Does Abide with Me ring any bells? But then, I'm not sure I see them allowing someone like Rihanna singing at a royal wedding. Amy Winehouse, anyone? :2fun:

Amy Winehouse, anyone? Actually, if they want a "private" wedding, that would be one way to get it done. Scare the crowd away! All kidding aside, in my opinion all of this will come down to 2 key factors; the singers' reputations and their personal connections. Hayley is hard to beat when it comes to reputation, but who knows how many royal connections (if any) she has managed to make during her relatively short time in London.

Now that William is (seemingly) running things for his own wedding, I have absolutely no idea what it might mean or for whom, music/singer-wise. The establishment tend to prefer a certain approach because they consider it safe, but I have no read at all on William. He may go with tradition, or he might get away with demanding something very different.
Be intriguing to see what develops, though. A prince getting a say in his own wedding is pretty much unprecedented, AFAIK.

I'm 80% sure that Blake will be the chosen singers to perform at the Royal Wedding. Largely because Jules Knight, a member of the band, is best buddies with both Kate and William.

A concert has been proposed in Hyde Park to celebrate the wedding on April 29th. A contact in a major broadcaster tells me that they are negotiating to broadcast it if it happens.

Hi Roger-G, A concert in Hyde Park sounds like great fun! It seems like this will be a fun time for people in the UK. Cheers, Jillian

But that would smack of cronyism, for better or for worse. It's great that William & Kate reward friendships but it reeks that others just as deserving weren't considered. It may be their private first choice, but it sends a mixed message at best.

What's the problem with choosing YOUR friends to perform at YOUR wedding? It's their wedding, it's their choice. That choice may or may not be to have Blake sing there - it's only my gut feeling Steve, it's nothing official and no announcement has been made.

Cheers, Jillian If it happens, the concert could include many of the usual suspects already mentioned here, including Hayley who has previously performed in Hyde Park. But the weather can be unkind in April.

If it were anyone else it would be an almost automatic choice.

The problem with your gut feeling is that it's probably spot on and that's too bad for fans of Hayley. I was hoping we could send telepathic messages to William and Kate siuggesting to them that it would be better for their international image to select someone as talented and humanitarian as Hayley. I mean, it's wonderful that Wills and Jules are old pals, but I'm not a fan of Blake and I happen to know that Hayley would be ideal for the job. Okay, so you're not up to telepathic messages... what about sending good vibes in their general direction with thoughts of Hayley included?

I think it's great if they're able to choose who they want. If Hayley isn't there, I probably won't pay much attention, so they can do what they want. However, if they're having a concert in Hyde Park, would they do that just for 1 singing group? I would think they'd have a few more performers than that. It's not like they can't afford it. So why didn't Blake sing at his birthday party?

Hyde Park will have loads of artists. I'm thinking more of the actual wedding.

Oh. What's at Hyde Park, then? Will that be more like a reception, then? Because that would still be great if Hayley could sing for that.
