Thanks for the news, Jillian. However, before we all get too excited it is not known at present if either of the songs will be televised since very little of the regional concerts is broadcast nationally. Also, all tickets for the concert were sold some time ago. But we can hope! Martin

Hi Dave, Looks like you will have to tune in to Northern Irleland BBC1 on friday night.!!!! PLEASE.Jim Aaaaah, the wonders of digital satellite television! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Finding enough disc space to record about 6 hours of TV twice (on two different channels) will be the trickiest bit but I have several suitable 'devices' so should be OK to capture whatever (if anything) of Hayley is broadcast. Cheers, Dave

Hi all, The BBC released a press statement which can be found here: www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2010/11_november/18/cin_belfast.shtml
Some of the biggest names in rock and pop music will be flying in to Belfast for a special massive one-off gig in the Odyssey Arena tomorrow tonight (Friday 19 November), in aid of this year's BBC Children In Need.
Westlife, The Script and Jedward will be performing in front of a crowd of over 7,000. Also confirmed for the gig are Twist and Pulse, General Fiasco, Caro, The Overtones and Hayley Westenra.
The massive concert is being hosted by John Daly and BBC Radio 1's Reggie Yates.
This year, viewers in Northern Ireland will enjoy the show live from BBC Television Centre, presented by Sir Terry Wogan and Tess Daly, joining up with gigs across the United Kingdom, including the Odyssey Arena at key moments throughout the night, sharing some fantastic live music from Northern Ireland, as well as showing how money raised from last year's appeal has been spent locally.
Tickets, for the Odyssey Arena concert, being tipped as the hottest gig in town, were all snapped up in hours.
However, viewers can tune in to the gig live on BBC Radio Ulster in the company of Ralph McLean and Lynette Fay, from 7pm.
And on Saturday (November 20), BBC Northern Ireland will show a special one-hour highlights programme from the Odyssey Arena gig.
Children In Need Rocks The Odyssey is on BBC One Northern Ireland at 5.30pm. (...)
Cheers, Karsten

Hi everyone,
Firstly, thanks for posting the BBC details Karsten, the extra information is very helpful - looks like we may get to see more of Hayley in the N.I. highlights show on Saturday, or hear more of her in the radio broadcast.
Bandana has just let me know that Hayley is expected to be on the BBC1 TV Northern Ireland channel around 8pm on Friday, many thanks to Sara for the info.
Those of us in the rest of the UK can receive this channel free-to-air on digital satellite - Freesat or Sky, so I hope to record it (also the main BBC1 channel in case they show any Hayley clips Nationally).
Cheers, Dave

Hi everyone, Hayley sang Songbird, Both Sides Now and Danny Boy (I guessed that one!) but it was broadcast only on the radio programme. Audio technical quality was OK but not brilliant (probably over-compression or excessive limiting somewhere in the transmission path) so I'll wait until I see what else emerges on the BBC iPlayer or repeats, especially the Odyssey TV highlights show to be broadcast tomorrow. Hayley did very well, I liked Songbird most followed by Danny Boy, which Hayley sang entirely a cappella. The huge Odyssey Arena audience of mostly young people was completely silent during Danny boy! If anyone becomes aware that any clips of Hayley were shown on BBC1 main channel or Northern Ireland, please post the info here as I've recorded it all but won't have time to watch it all! Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, Thanks for recording the broadcast. Hopefully there'll be some clips of Hayley hidden amongst it or at least some photos of the performance will emerge. I've had a bit of a look around, but I can't seem to find anything yet. Cheers, Jillian

Hi Jillian and everyone, The entire Odyssey concert for Children in Need can now be heard on the BBC iPlayer (BBC Radio Ulster). Here it is: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00vz4ls/BBC_Children_in_Need_Live_at_the_Odyssey/Hayley's set starts at about 1 hour 6 minutes into the concert. You will enjoy it! Cheers, Dave PS: They mention that they hope to have an interview with Hayley "later on" so if anyone wishes to hunt through for it, I will more easily be able to record it and (later) upload it when I extract the songs.

Thoroughly enjoyed the three songs which were a great choice for the occasion and venue with so many young people in the audience.

LIstening to "Danny Boy" makes me think she should sing "a capella "more often. She really doesn't need anyone else.
