Hello everyone, I have to admit that I try to avoid all of the 'latest big thing' in young child singers (below 15/16), as I judge them all in absolute terms and all of them I find wanting, especially in breath and pitch control. Patricia is no exception, but in any case, I listened to some of her videos from the competition this evening. I enjoyed listening to them and I am impressed. Yes her breath and pitch control is certainly lacking, but she has a beautiful tone to her voice and as she grows older, I have no doubt that this will improve a lot - especially if she is not pushed too far too fast. I was particularly impressed by her vocalized performance of Once Upon A Time In The West and I was surprised that they even let her attempt it. For a 12 year old, it was an astonishing performance (even though changes were made, probably because her vocal range is currently insufficient to sing all the notes as originally written). But of course, she may never ever 'make it' outside her own country and neighbouring countries, but I hope she does - preferably when she is a few years older. I do not think International success would necessarily be a good thing for any child of that young age. Thank you krupicka for bringing Patricia to our attention, and thanks faramir for your translation. Dave

WOW I am impressed with Patricia. She could certainly handle the high notes at the end of the song.

Yes, her high notes are impressive, but I am even more impressed by her sound in the lower register... For a girl her age to sng that low in a duo with a man and not to be swallowed by his voice... Impressive!

Patrícia now has a profile on my website, which instantly sparked lively discussion. There's a member there (in the comments) and on her forum thread that has a lot more information about her. www.classical-crossover.co.uk/artprofiles/390-patricia-janekova.htmlI hope she branches out from Slovakia at some point - I want to hear CDs too! XD

Ok, I said I was impressed by Patrícia before, she sounded very well indeed, but I didn't thought of her as bringing something more than Faryl or Jackie, to the world of operatically singing prodigies. Faryl was first, and had the special thing of being a mezzosoprano and had a timbre that could be the envy of the best mezzosopranos... Jackie has interpretation skills far beyond imagination and her sound has got better and better, her performances are incredibly emotive... So, what Patrícia has that the other two doesn't have? Well, I discovered it two days ago, when I saw videos from her last recital... And it was totally different to what we could hear in the talent show, she did many opera arias, many not common in the crossover repertoire, and had as a guest true opera tenor and soprano... and her technique and sound was truly that of opera. She really can say she IS trained for opera. I am specially impressed by her duet with the tenor, singing the "Papageno and Papagena duet" from Mozart's "The Magic Flute". www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZxpuLAqBc8&feature=related One thing that says a lot of her technique is the distance to the microphone, and the fact that, when she doesn't sing in the direction of the microphone, it still sounds as clear as whem she sings to the microphone. That's the kind of projection that is required for opera. In this video, maybe at times she is "shadowed" by the voice of the tenor, but she is singing in front of an opera tenor., very, very impressive! Michal

i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I have successfully ordered this album even though the website is Czech. There is a very good step by step guide on Nicola's Classical Crossover website if any one else wants this album.

Hello! The debut album of Patricia Janeckova was released yesterday and it is awaited in Slovak webshops during few following days. The album became one of the best selling albums in Slovakia already in the preorder period. If you wish to order the album and you don't know Slovak or similar Slavic language, it could be difficult for you. The reason is simple: The Czecho-Slovak cultural area is very closed, the main reason is the language barrier. It is very unusual, that some Slovak or Czech album would be ordered from abroad by people, who are not Czechs or Slovaks. That's the reason why our Slovak webshops are generally not quite prepared for that. More Slovak webshops ship internationally, also for example to New Zealand or Australia, but they have only Slovak interface (I know only one partial exception). I would like to show you 3 relatively easy possibilities how to order Patricia's debut album. A) Ordering through dvdbest.sk www.dvdbest.sk/cd/156214/janeckova-patricia-patricia-janeckova-cd-dvdThis is the way used by Ross, see the previous post. Payment methods are Visa / Mastercard. Their contact mail is dvdbest@dvdbest.sk No registration is required. Simply follow my guide www.megaupload.com/?d=NK53C9IBB) Ordering through gorila.skThe payment method is Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard or Diners Club. 1. Make an account in gorila.sk www.gorila.sk/u/user_register.php?from=It simply requires only entering your name, e-mail address and your gorila.sk password and pressing the bottom button. Nothing more. See the picture: 2. Write English mail from your registered email address to objednavky@gorila.sk.The mail should contain the album name you wish to order and the postal address it should be sent to. 3. Perform the payment using Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard or Diners Club. When you become mail from gorila.sk containing: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Payment can be processed via credit card, you can pay from your 'account' on www.gorila.sk when selecting the order, or at following direct link to the order payment page (you need to be logged in your account at gorila.sk to access it): <here will be placed a link to payment page> Once on the page, please follow the VISA/MC icons, which will take you to website of popular Slovak bank Tatrabanka who is our payment service provider, the 'CardPay' section - where you will fill out details of your card and the payment can be processed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Log in on gorila.sk www.gorila.sk/u/user_login.phpLogging in is not necessary if you are still logged in since your account registration. Then click on the payment link you received in the mail and perform the payment according to the instructions in the mail. C) Ordering through supershop.sk www.suprshop.eu/shop_item.php?id=9142943&jazyk=USThis webshop provides partial, but sufficient English interface. The payment method is PayPal. Their contact email is objednavky@supershop.sk Shipping is possible to Europe and many other countries, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan. Shipping price for Europe is 5 EUR and for other countries is 10 EUR. So for example for customers from the U.S. the price is 11.40 EUR + 10 EUR = 21.40 EUR = 29.38 U.S. dollars (1 Euro = 1.3729 U.S. dollars today). Payment is possible through PayPal. During order, specify the email address you have associated with PayPal. Then, after you finished ordering, you will become mail with instructions about payment. You have to login to your PayPal account, select the Send Payment tab, specify the bacigal@supermusic.sk address, the amount and send the payment. === Those from you who are watching also the CCUK forum may know me from the Patricia's section, where I provided the same information. I buyed the album already yesterday directly at the Slovak distributor Bontonfilm. Shortly I can say the album is wonderful!

I am planniong a trip to Praga in end January and beginning of February, and I think this could be a great occasion to get the album without paying shipping costs. I guess it will be available on stores there, and it will still be on shelves by that time... right?
I can't wait to hear it! Now I understand why the videos that I found on Youtube and posted here, were deleted... I am glad those recordings are available commercially, they are worth it! Oh, and what a nice surprise, the Lascia! One of my favourite arias.

mihizawi, I mean in January/February you will have no troubles to buy the album. But can you wait soooo long time? Lascia chi’o pianga is wonderful! I could upload 30 seconds or 1 minute MP3 sample for you, but I don't know, whether it is allowed by forum rules to publish such a sample link here. The album is distributed in both Czech and Slovak part of our common cultural area by Bontonfilm. I became the first confirmation about album availability on Friday (2 days ago). Yesterday 2 CCUK forum members reported they already became shipment confirmation, one from gorila.sk and the 2nd from dvdbest.sk. There is no shipment confirmation yet from supershop.sk. For fans from EU gorila.sk is cheaper than dvdbest.sk. On gorila.sk shipment into EU costs about 5.99 EUR + 0.69 EUR pack in price, so together with the album itself it is 17.65 EUR.

I heard more times in the last days Pie Jesu and Song To The Moon (Mìsíèku na nebi hlubokém). Patricia didn't sung them yet publicly. These 2 things are very different, require different singing technique, also the emotions they bring are different. What I found the most valuable is Patricia's interpretation. Patricia was really able to sing them quite differently and to create specific atmosphere for each composition. Patricia is singing them as her original, it is no copy of other artist. Of course, her technique cannot be yet on the level of perfectly trained adult singers, she is singing still with her childs voice, but her appealing interpretation is amazing. The 2nd DVD chapter contains interviews with her manager Matej Drlicka, with Oskar Rozsa (conductor, composer, producer) and of course with Patricia too. I translated the interviews yesterday, you can find it here: www.classical-crossover.co.uk/forums/41-patricia-janekova/9296-patricia-janekova-articles-and-interviews.html?limit=10&start=20#13795The relevant part: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oskar Rozsa: I really have to say that she is in her age extremely mature. I do not know, to what extent it is conscious or if it is musical intuition, in any case, let it have been anything, it's a great gift for her. Matej Drlicka: It's not just in her voice, which is obviously amazing, but nonetheless it's still a young voice, it is mainly in her musical intuition, the way she puts musical phrases. I understood that she has something what others have to learn for many years. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have some explanation for this. I heard Patricia's interview for Czech Radio yet from 26 January www.rozhlas.cz/domino/hudba/_zprava/patricia-janeckova-12leta-operni-diva-z-ostravy--841896She said here they have at home in their living room one magic drawer, full of classical music CD's, including many operas. Patricia liked as child to listen those CDs and was trying to sing arias from them. After some time she found she is basically able to sing such a material. Her father, contrabass player in Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra, said in other interview, that Patricia was singing, when she was at home, from morning to evening. Patricia also said, that for fun she many times communicated with other family members by singing the words she wanted to say, like in opera. We all know, that children are able to learn and understand things intuitively and very quickly. The magical drawer, her family environment, her natural voice and talent are my explanation why she is able to sing for example Song To The Moon like she does it on the CD.

Hi, Bogi, yes, I am not sure if I will be able to wait... but I'll try, saving 6,5 € is not something to dismiss.
As for the sample of Lascia Ch'io Pianga, well, I don't think there's any problems with that, it has been done quite recently with Hayley's album paradiso... You may want to wait for Dave permission, bbut I'd love to hear that sample when you get his permission, and I would be very, very thankful.
