Hi All,
Well, I see a face coming through the haze,
I remember her from those crazy days.
I can never resist mangling a good song lyric, this one was from The Who. So I created this thread to allow some of us old timers to share our memories of time and concerts gone by.
But to the point, I was clearing out some rubbish today and a came upon some printed sheets that may well be unique. They contain the review of a Hayley concert at Llandudno, written by Roger. I have checked and I can't find it on HWI anywhere, so it might not exist anywhere else. The date is 23rd March 2004. This is a bit special for me.
Three days before, 20th March 2004 was a day and especially an evening I will never forget. This was the first time I came across Hayley, at a live performance on the Pure tour at the Derngate Theatre, Northampton. We had gone there to see Katherine Jenkins, although Hayley was the star of the show. I knew nothing about Hayley, but it took her only ten seconds of Pokarekare Ana to make the biggest impression on me that any singer ever has in 60 years of listening to music.
The show at Llandudno was very similar. We heard not only Hayley and Katherine, but Sophie and Isaac Westenra too. This was a very very special evening for me, and finding Roger's review brought back all the membories of waht was a very similar show. I thought I would photograph it and post it here, you might enjoy it.
Now, I just have to get the pages in the right order and hope you can read it. Ctrl + might help if you are struggling.
BTW I hope you don't mind me doing this Roger.
