Hi Martin D, My fondest Hayleyday is my only Hayleyday...22nd October 2005 in Allentown Pennsylvania. The only Hayley concert that has been less than two hours away from me I'd like to share that thread from the Concerts board if I may. hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Concert&action=display&thread=915I must admit that I cried when I re-read the posts from five years ago. I too read the whole of that thread... must have been a great night, well all Hayley concerts are great nights in my experience.
It's time you got to another show Joe. She has grown up a lot and her voice and vocal skill have also developed since 2005!

Why do I struggle to find old concert threads? I have just spend several minutes trying to find the thread for the one concert we should be remembering this weekend. Yes, Buxton Opera House, 5th April 2008. I'm sure it is here somewhere, but the "Search" function failed to find it when searching under the heading "Buxton". There must be a technique for finding these things, but so far I haven't mastered it.
This is why it is always a god idea to download and keep photos and videos frm concerts. You never know how long they will be around, and we are talking about priceless history here.
But even if HWI has forgotten it, I haven't. It was after all the first time I got to meet Hayley, although I had been to her concerts before. And it was one of the best. Her performance of Danny Boy I remember was the best I have ever heard, although perhaps now surpassed by the one at Nottingham three weeks ago. It was the first time we saw her in that beautiful orange dress, still one of my all time favourite Hayley dresses, she just looked and sounded fabulous. I remember the Opera House had an unusual for these days rather "dead" acoustic. Very very different from somewhere like the Birmingham Symphony Hall, or a great cathedral, yet it seemed to work. You could hear everything perfectly. Then afterwards, we got to spend some quality time in her company, it was a few days before her 21st birthday after all, and people had presents and cards to give her.
And in two days she will revisit that wonderful location. It will be only the second location where I have seen Hayley perform more than once, the other being the Derngate Theatre Northampton, (sse above) where I have seen her three times.

Hi Martin Why do I strggle to find old concert threads. I have just spend several minutes trying to find the thread for the one concert we should be remembering this weekend. Yes, Buxton Opera House, 4th April 2008. I'm sure its is here somewhere, but the "Search" function failed to find it when searching under the heading "Buxton". There must be a technique forfinding these things, but so far I haven't mastered it. The "Search" facility never works for me either. I prefer the old fashioned method of looking through the relevant threads. What you are looking for is HERE all 45 pages of it! Enjoy! Best wishes Grant

I'm not a big fan of the "search" function either. It just doesn't seem to work on the Subject or thread title. Most frustrating at times, especially if the thread is more than a couple of years old I sometimes find myself going to a "Members" name and bringing up their last 500 posts just to find a thread, Works well with people who post least, if you know there is a post of theirs in the relevant thread,

Martin, that thread is only a few pages back on the Concert board. Quite simple.

Hello folks! I've had more success finding old threads using Google rather than the forum's own search engine. That's my tip for today! Richard

It is good to know that others find the search function here as bad as I have I thought is was my computer that was slow and it timed out so that is good news i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI have used Comet's trick before but not yours Richard Also searching the relevant possible threads i.e 'un'-ticking the non relevant boards helps sometimes. Libby's trick (for finding the Buxton thread): Go to the Concerts board. Type a 3 into the page number box. Click Go. Scroll down to 3rd thread from the bottom. Click on the Buxton thread.

I was just telling Martin where he can find the thread, to make it easier for him. I think my steps are every bit as fast as what you've suggested. I too have had trouble with the search, even when I uncheck everything except the relevant threads. Sometimes it's hard to know how many days to put into the search engine. Even when I put some huge number, like 1000 in, it doesn't turn up with what I want.

Thanks for your help guys. Yes, I've found it and spent a pleasant time re-reading most of it. That place will always have a special place in my heart, two of the greatest concerts I have ever had the privilege to attend.
