@ ElliotWell, thinking of it, Hayley would rule over Taylor...But I always think that anything is possible....I've seen the most weirdest/impossible combos which I would never had put together, but it works out very well. Although perhaps the image of an artist helps too. @ AnshitaI don't think 'innapropriate' is the right word for it. You're confusing Miley's vocal ability with her image. As a role model, she's totally different then Hayley, and comparing them would look innapropriate, maybe. Though vocally they could match. Just like you I don't like Mileys nasal voice either, but like Elliot says, her strong voice could Match with Hayleys. A John Mayor duet? Well, as I said, the weirdest combinations...... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAnd Whenever You Remember from Carrie is actually my most favourite. I've used it in a video I made for my mother. So that one would be appealing for me if Hayley would sing that, with or without Carrie. Her rough voice is better then Miley's, I think. Sharon*

Sharon,
Taylor usually compensates for her somewhat weak voice by putting on an amazing performance. She's probably one of the best live performers in the world today, in fact. But sit her on a stool next to Hayley and get them both singing... Well, it's not a thing I want to see, honestly. As with the usual Taylor/Carrie comparisons, their strengths & weaknesses are just so different that they can't really be measured against each other.
Miley & Hayley I think would sound pretty superb, though. the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. If anyone outside of Metal can (Nearly) match Hayley for power, it would surely be Miley. Although... Is Carrie stronger than Miley? Hard to say. They both have a lot of power, and Miley's deeper voice gives her more carrying power... Hmmm... No, couldn't call that one.
EDIT: check out Miley's recent House Of Blues concert to see exactly how good she is right now.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to say... Though, I just feel personally that Miley and Hayley's voice may not blend. Though, even if they ever do a duet, it would be very interesting!
I really love Whenever You Remember as well... I believe you're the one who actually told me the song, hahaha, along with Dont Forget To Remember Me... Lovely songs! Maybe it is not fair to compare both the voices now since Carrie is around 27 and Miley around 18-19. Thats a long difference, and in 8-9 years, your voice can change a lot... But though, I think for now, I like Carrie's singing technique better. She can go very high as well!

Perhaps I have to look at some more recent Miley videos, cause for now, I'm not really that impressed by her. I did liked her duet with her Godmother Dolly, but that's just her genre. I'm not a rock fan, at least not the hard rock kind, so perhaps that's why I also do not like all of Mileys music. Though just like Anshita said, that one song 'Can't Be Tamed' has a nice beat, but no fan of the video.
Well, if Miley sings that good for her age, I think it's probably fair to compare her with Carrie. both strong voices. Though I think Carrie has more power, but I should watch some latest videos from House of Bluesconcerts before I go on, on that subject.
So I have some work to do!

Indeed very interesting things said here, and yes, I am sure Hayley is one of those music-lovers, a total musician who makes music just for the music itself, and that's why she is so good at it and she keeps improving and trying new things, learning new instruments, songwriting and composing, trying different genres... She is in love with music, as I am, but from the side of a listener (and a little, little bit as a very amateur player and student).
Michal
P.S. Elliot, I've happened to run into Skye Sweetnam's cover of the Disney classic "Part of Your World", from the "Ltitle Mermaid", and I found it very interesting, but haven't listened to any other of her songs.

Michal, The thing that makes Skye unique (Well, other than her willingness to completely change a Disney song's arrangement to suit herself - not sure anyone else ever dared do that, especially for an actual Disney album!) is that high energy thing she does with her voice. I call it 'The Skye Bounce' and I've never heard any other singer who could put that much life, that much energy, into a song. Skye is mainly Pop/Rock, but well worth your time for that voice alone. Her music ranges all across the two genres, though, so liking one of her songs is no guarantee you will like the next. I know this myself

My response to Hayley & Miley or Hayley & Taylor Swift, or Hayley singing The Climb: no, No, and absolutely No way. I don't think Hayley's voice suits any songs that I've heard from either one of them. I'm so sick of The Climb. When I Look at You is much nicer, but Miley's voice is too rough and not pretty enough for such a nice song. And these songs are generally too juvenile/teenage girl sounding to me for Hayley to sing. They are teenage girls, but Hayley is not. She's an adult now. So, I prefer Hayley to sing songs she's written herself, from her own views and experiences. Her songs are much better and more beautiful, which I say almost every day, it seems like. Oh, and I'm quite sick of Fifteen by now, too. I hear it nearly everyday at work.

You should have heard her sing "As Time Goes By" last Monday,Libby. She brought that song to life i a way I have never heard. Also "Nightingale" and "Bluebirds". I think Hayley could do a very good album of so-called "standards". Earlier she was perhaps a bit too young to tackle that sort of song, but not any more.

Yes, I would have liked to hear her sing in person. Might I just elaborate a little on what I said above: Hayley doesn't need someone like Taylor Swift to write songs for her, because she's perfectly capable of writing wonderful songs all by herself.

Hi Libby,
I couldn't agree more. And even if she wasn't a talented songwriter, there are lots of songs out there that she could bring something new and special to performance wise. She proved that last Monday.

Libby & Martin,
Considering almost everything Hayley has sung to date has been written by someone else, including her forthcoming album written by Ennio Morricone, I must admit I'm surprised to hear you both disapprove of the idea of Hayley having songs written for her.
I'm not knocking Hayley in any way, please understand. For the vast majority of singers, it is the natural way of things that while they might write the odd song here and there, most of their output will be written by other people. This is especially true in genres like Classical, Opera, etc, where the vast majority of songs were written before the performers were even born.
It doesn't make the singer in any way less talented as a singer if they are not singing songs they wrote themselves.
Maybe Hayley will solo-write her next album (After the one with Morricone). Maybe she won't. For me personally, it won't make the slightest bit of difference as it's primarily her voice I am a fan of.

I don't even know what Hayley's genre is really. Many say Classical, but only half of her songs, if even that, are classical. I would say that Hayley is Easy Listening, and I think her voice would work well in almost any genre. She should just stay away from screamo.

Hahaha, yes, as in the Hannah Montana Miley. I feel the same, that a duet between Miley and Hayley would sound awful. Though, Miley certainly can sing, but I feel both the voices would not match. Cheers, Anshita

Elliot, Hayley wrote Summer Rain, Let Me Lie, Melancholy Interlude, Le Note del Silenzio, All With You, Christmas Morning, Peace Shall Come, and Talk to Me. While I'm sure she had some help, I feel pretty sure she wrote the lyrics to these mostly herself. The co-writers probably helped, but I think they helped more with creating the melodies to the songs more than anything else. And of course, Melancholy Interlude was already an existing piece of music; Hayley just came up with her own lyrics. And I suppose she didn't write the Italian lyrics, but I'm pretty sure the inspiration for them came from Hayley. Whether it was Hayley, Sarah Class, Jeff Franzel who wrote the lyrics, they're still better than any American teenage song I've ever heard.
I am looking forward to hearing the songs Ennio wrote for Hayley, but I'm still a little impatient for new "Hayley" songs, if you know what I mean.
Miley can sing, but she doesn't always sound good. In the The Climb she sounds like she was coached through it, because even the parts that are supposed to sound emotional don't sound like true emotion to me.
