ok...yes i am a new member however this has come to my mind and i am very interested to see how other people of the forum will respond to this... so...what band/singer...would you like to see hayley perform with who are not in the same classification of music/genre as she is...? my answer is: the band would be cradle of filth...the song i would want to hear them do together would be "stay" off of their thornography bonus cd. now...lets see what you all come up with

Well, that's a tricky question. First of all, it's hard to fit Hayley in any genre, as she has touched so many different ones, although there's a wide consense to say if we had to choose a main genre for Hayley that would be Classical Crossover, as it has always been her main market, at least here, in Europe. But then again, Classical Crossover itself is such a mix of styles and influences: is Danny Boy a Ckassucak Crossover standard or a traditional folk song?
On the other hand, it is hard to think of a genre that Hayley haven't tried out, she has done Classical, Traditional/Folk, Celtic/New Age, Jazz, Country, Pop, Rock, even some more electronic remixes (Across thhe Universe of Time), she has occasionally been very close to gospel, and she even has done a collaboration with a Rap group.
But, if you mean something outside the Classical Crossover standards that she hasn't done before... hmm... I guess a duet with Bryan Adams would be very nice and interesting, how about the song "Everything I do (I do it for you).
I am sure I would come up with many other ideas, but, let's see what other say.

...is Danny Boy a Ckassucak Crossover standard or a traditional folk song? It depends how it is sung and, perhaps, who sings it but 'Danny Boy' is generally thought to be an Irish traditional folk song. It is only considered Irish because the lyric is set to the tune known as the Londonderry Air. However, the words were written by Frederick Weatherly - who was English! In answer to the original question, there are no singers or groups with whom I would particularly wish to see Hayley sing. I prefer her as a solo performer. However, to extend the question slightly, as a long-time fan of John Denver's music, I would love to hear her perform something of his. Roger

I think Hayley's fanbase would go crazy and in uproar if Hayley collaborated with Cradle of Filth. I remember seeing a poster of them on my boyfriend's wall when I was sixteen. They were holding a brain and it was dripping with blood. I wondered how he could have such a thing up on his wall! I do like some metal music, but CoF are not on my list (mainly because I don't like growls).
I guess my choice is equally as controversial, but it would be neat for her to collaborate with Eminem, 'Stan' style. Other than that, I just can't see her collaborating with rock bands and the like, not because she couldn't do it, but it just wouldn't seem right. XD

I also prefer Hayley to sing solo. Though a duet with Bryan Adams would indeed be lovely. I don't know if she already did, but I'd like to hear her with Westlife as well... I did read an article about Westlife attending the same concert as Hayley, but don't know if they sang together? Anyway, I don't really prefer to see Hayley next to a rockband, that's just totally different. Though sometimes it suprisingly sounds good... Sharon*

Spare us, we just can't take the rap Hayley has demonstrated that she can be quite at home with a rock band on stage, At Shepherd's Bush, even with a drunken and fairly boisterous audience Hayley worked away in rock and in her OWN genre, without batting and eyelid or being intimidated and also performed her first live solo performance of Sonny under those circumstances. Most of us here have seen various "out of genre performances". In fact I'm beginning to think Hayley has no intention of staying within a handful of genres, Variety is the spice of life, long may it continue

Agreed, xD, I have enough rap and Eminem in my home (as it is my brother's favorite music). I think Hayley should do whatever she wants, but... definately a rap song wouldn't be the best to apeal to me. Although I must say I remember a rap song I could even tolerate, Where'd you go, I think it was by Fort Minor (?).

I wasn't suggesting that Hayley rap... I meant she sing a chorus - like Dido did. Not that it's worth clarifying!

I guess a duet with Bryan Adams would be very nice and interesting, how about the song "Everything I do (I do it for you). Michal Just a random note, Katherine Jenkins sang Everything I Do (I Do It For You) in um. another language [(Quello Che Faro) Sara Per Te] and it made it to this compilation by Universal Music called Arias (Hayley's Walking In The Air, Amazing Grace and Who Painted The Moon Black were on this compilation too). "Arias" is mostly a classical crossover album, I think, because the featured artists don't seem to fall in any other genre. Think Sarah Brightman, Chloe Agnew, Sissel. But having said that, KJ sang that song a bit opera-ish (or maybe it's just how she normally sings, I don't know) and it probably wouldn't have fit if that had been a duet with Bryan Adams. But I think it'd be probably turn out great if Hayley did a duet with him since she's obviously capable of performing well in different genres As for Jim's (Did I get that right, failedreaper?) question, I don't really have a particular group or singer I'd like to see her perform with/genre for Hayley to try. I'm pretty happy to listen to whatever she decides to try. It'll be good anyway, she's Hayley cheers, Joanne

Well, I definitley don't want her to do rap or "heavy metal". Maybe alternative as long as it's not really horrible. When has Hayley sung rock? Was it with Dave Dobbyn? She says she likes R & B, so maybe she could try that sometime, like maybe with Alicia Keyes, since I know she likes her. I don't recall Hayley ever singing that style before. I think her voice would sound great with it, even if it's not my absolute favorite genre. One genre she's done before is Christian contemporary (Majesty), and I'd like to see her do more of that. I'm not sure what singers she should collaborate, or if she even should. Most of the popular ones I know of are American, but I don't know if any of them would really work. I really like the group the Newsboys. They used to have a Kiwi member (Phil Joel), plus 2 Australians. But the main members (including Phil Joel) have left, so they're not really the same anymore. The only Australian member left is a drummer! The rest are all American. If the group were the way they used to be, I'd say she could do a song with them, but I don't think it would be worth it now. I think they're even losing popularity here with the loss of the best 2 members they had. It completely changed the face of the group, not to mention the voices.

Definitely no Rap! **Shudders in horror!** If Hayley is going to duet with anyone, that person will have to be stunning in their own way. Someone like LeAnn Rimes, Joss Stone, etc. Ideal would be Queen, of course, on Bohemian Rhapsody, but sadly there's one rather large problem with that... Still... I like the challenge of this idea, so: Hayley out-of-genre duets with: Robbie Williams on Angels Freddie Mercury/Queen on Bohemian Rhapsody (Sigh! I miss Freddie...) The Pretty Reckless on Make Me Wanna Die Joss Stone on Son Of A Preacher Man Carrie Underwood on Just A Dream Ozzy Osbourne on Let Me Hear You Scream And just to fiddle with the idea a little more, by taking the original artist out of the duet and putting someone different in instead... With Jonathan Ansell on 'Music Of The Night'. With Meat Loaf on 'Poor Wandering One' (From 'Pirates Of Penzance') With Faryl on Iron Maiden's 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' With Skye Sweetnam on 'Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' With Alex Roots on Kim Wilde's 'Water On Glass' With Tiffany Page on Blondie's 'Sunday Girl'. That should do for now. But I like this idea. can you tell? (Links on lesser known artists are to official MySpace pages. I'm assuming everyone is gonna know the world famous types)

I'd like her to sing Angels with/from Robbie Williams!
This song is special to me, as it was played at my mothers funeral! And it is just such a lovely song! Though I'd choose a different song from Carrie Underwood. Though most of your suggestions Elliot look good.

Thanks, Sharon Have to admit, Angels topped my list for a reason It's probably the best ballad of modern times. As for Carrie - she has a lot of good songs, but I went with Just A Dream because it has the long notes that Hayley is so fantastic at. I kinda had a failure of imagination thinking of Hayley singing Cowboy Casanova

I kinda had a failure of imagination thinking of Hayley singing Cowboy Casanova Hey Elliot, Cowboy Casanova, hmm, haha! I too, cannot imagine Hayley sing this, haha! Though, I like Carrie Underwood very much as well. But perhaps her music is a little to "rock" for Hayley... Though, a duet with Celine Dion perhaps would be amazing. Maybe "My heart would go on", seems like the ideal song for Hayley to sing! Though, I have seen the video where she mentions she likes "Rihanna" and "Lady Gaga". Cheers, Anshita
