OK ! Much of what is below is tongue in cheek and may be taken with a large dose of salt They're just going to have to record this album again ! and that's that ! no messin' this time, no short cuts, no leavin' out complete verses of The Song, and the best and most interesting verses at that, It's back to the studio with you lot, and the "doors will be locked" this time, from the outside. and yer not gettin' out until ye have a 79 minute recording done, Right ! And while yer at it, ye can re-do the sleeve notes and put in a few pictures of Hayley and the choir. It really is a gorgeous album, but far to short (48:42). Karl Jenkins really is My Kinda Music I actually play his music a lot, very soothing and calming, and lately I need a lotta soothing and calming If you read the lyrics on page 7 for The Song: I'll make music, you will find that the most wonderful verses are not sung at all. Woe is me, or what ? Or have I just got a short version of the cd then on page 8 there are even MORE lyrics for I'll make Music. Huh ! they call it The Song and then they don't even sing it, Huh ! I'll give ye I'll Make Music alright..... There is a funny bit on page 7, it reads : "English paraphase by Grahame Davies from existing translations" Is this something to do with the electrical supply to an English soldier ? so I looked it up, It gets worse In Wiki answers I got this : Answer To shorten; To get the general idea or "gist" oof something. the oof is really there, So someone paraphrased paraphrase and got paraphase, so I checked that word and guess WATT ? (′par·ə′fāz ′am·plə′fī·ər) (electronics) An amplifier that provides two equal output signals 180° out of phase. Now I really am puzzled are half of the lyrics really there but out of phase so ye can't hear them ? Would noise cancelling headphones bring the lyrics back ? I think I had better go and take my tablets now !

Well, I still haven't got a copy. I gave up on the supermarkets and tried Amazon, but it seems that they are "temporarily out of stock"!! Don't tell me they didn't make enough copies to satisfy the demand! Or do tell me that, I suppose it is good news for KJ if it is selling better than expected. I still want a copy though. If I still haven't got one by the weekend I might try HMV in Leicester.

Actually I was disappointed as Hayley only sings once. Larry

I only remember seeing one set of lyrics for the song in mine, but I'll check to be sure.

Album came this morning. Played it once, in the car on the way to Peterborough this morning. I like it, typical Karl Jenkins, fanfares, percussion and softer passages, and the scripture readings aren't too long. And Hayley of course is wonderful, as always.
This is the first time I have heard Hayley's current voice since last December, so it was bound to be interesting. And she does seem to be getting better at the lower notes, her voice it seems is still maturing.

Time for a little promotional campaign for Hayley , Every radio play has a real effect and brings in new Hayley listeners Lyric FM IrelandHave a look at the lyric FM page, Pick a radio show from the list at the bottom of the page, Put in a request from whatever country you live in, ie USA UK Australia etc..it could be for your relatives in Ireland if you have some.. or for other people who listen "Online" For a Hayley song of course. Tell them you listen "Online" Don't completely bombard them with requests, one a week from each of the active members here would do nicely Some of the shows on the list have already played Hayley on their programmes, so all we have to do is give the a gentle reminder every so often, Maybe you could BOOKMARK Lyric Fm's page to make it easier for you to send in the occasional request

I suppose I should pay more attention to the music I buy. When HWI was so full of Gloria posts I assumed that it would be special with much participation by Hayley. When I got my copy from Amazon U K I was really disappointed. I thought the work was mediocre at best.

Well, Larry I couldn't disagree more. Even without Hayley, this would be a brilliant piece of music well worth getting. I love the way Karl Jenkins uses those choirs. On a decent Hifi it is magnificent. I love it and can't stop playing it. Agreed choral music is not to everyone's taste, but believe me, Karl Jenkins is one of the best, and perhaps THE best living composer of such music.
Perhaps the only criticism I could make is that it is very much like his earlier work. Perhaps you can have too much of a good thing. He was always about fanfares, choirs, percussion and comparitive religion and this is no different. But I enjoy it enormously nonetheless.

Hayley's beautiful "I'll Make Music" is the icing on the cake.

My church as yours is famous for choral music. I suppose the biggest reason for my comments were the absence of Hayley's parcipitation. You should support and be proud of your local composers. Larry

I ordered my copy last night. Still waiting for him to beat Benedictus, but I added 'Celebro' and 'In Dulci Jubilo' from Stella Natalis to my MP3 player.
I don't have all of his works (I miss out his concertos) but I know his music very well. It's all kind of samey, really, but he is inclusive and can create some wonderful melodies.

Oh, I much prefer Eric Lévi and his work with 'Era', but it's a lot more contemporary and accessible (the later albums are a bit too poppy, the album 'Era 2' is the best example of his work). era.artiste.universalmusic.fr/Eric Lévi composed the well known standard 'I Believe' - which Hayley hasn't recorded, surprisingly enough (the most recent recording is Katherine Jenkins and Andrea Bocelli's).
