I remember lads in school exchanging their Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath LP albums to bring them home and God forbid, tape them onto cassettes because it took a while to save up the price of an album. I don't think I ever taped an album that I didn't buy later on vinyl and later again on CD. It wasn't the home taping that was killing music, it was the greedy ones in the industry getting artists to sign away their rights to ownership of their own work.
On the other subject, Glastonbury, it was great to see so many people just enjoying themselves, that look of pure pleasure on the faces in the audience. I saw somebody holding up a baby at the Shania Twain gig, they will be showing that video at the child's 21st birthday party no doubt (2044) wow. Those long poled flags, how do they transport a 6 metre tube to a concert venue ? and then spend the day holding it upright, sounds like hard work to me, but it did add the odd moment of good humour to the whole event.

In a world where sadly some people shoot those they disagree with, here is something altogether more pleasant. Some of you may know a little football match is taking place tonight in Berlin between England and Spain. So here is brilliant violinist David Garrett who I once saw at a concert with Hayley in London with his own version of a popular anthem.
P.S. 4.38pm Carlos Alcaraz wins Wimbledon. Let's hope that's the only time Spain will be celebrating sporting success today.

Hello Jeff! Yes…we do need some good news this weekend after that shock you spoke of first Although I cannot view your video here in America, I trust it is a good’un. At Wimbledon, I was pleased to know that the Princess of Wales was in attendance at the men’s final. Fingers crossed for a good match at the Euro final! Kickoff in fifteen minutes! I would like to share a video with all of you, my dear friends. This video of a children’s choir singing “What a Wonderful World” was sent to me, and I’d like you to listen to it!

That was a wonderful video Joe. Unfortunately it was not a wonderful result for England as Spain won 2-1 but to be honest they were the better team and deserved it.

Thanks for that news Jeff, I had no idea! I am listening now to "The Sleeping Forecast" and yes, it really does include lots of shipping forecast clips, in among the peaceful music, some of it is very asmr-y if you see what I mean. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_three_unwindI suspect that listeners outside the UK may need a VPN to listen to it but for anyone who can, it seems like a long-overdue addition to BBC radio!

Hello Jeff and Dave!
Yes, I cannot listen to BBC3u over here. The Sleeping Forecast is a rather good idea! Even when travelling through the waters off southeast Iceland!
That reminds me of the London 2012 Opening Ceremony! Elgar’s “Nimrod” was performed with the Shipping Forecast playing in the background!

Shame you can't get BBC3u in the USA Joe. Your country may be in need of calm relaxing music after the election !

My idea of a "swing state." It is November 5th so there are bound to be fireworks in America. (Let's hope the losing side will accept the result graciously).

Yes Dave it's a big improvement on Scala Radio (or Magical Classical as it's called now) because there are no adverts to disturb the calm ! I used to listen to "In the park" on Scala if I woke early. There's an article about it in next week's Radio Times. I took a photo of it. The only way of hosting it easily was on X so I hope you can read this. x.com/jeffnewton1/status/1853851245313986907?t=-6MnR6tFHpyuWYMrzzWGjA&s=19
