Totally shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Sinead O'Connor at the age of 56. I'm listening to a beautiful version of one of her songs by All Angels. If anyone knows where this was filmed I'd be interested to know.

Yes Jeff, It has been a rotten day for the Irish, knocked out of the World cup by an Own Goal this morning.
But to loose Sinead O'Connor is a National tragedy, Sinead was deeply loved by the Irish people. She spoke out against injustice wherever she found it. She got angry for people who were discriminated against and wasn't afraid to take action in public on their behalf, it cost her dearly in commercial or music industry terms, but that didn't matter to her. We will miss her honesty in speech and in song. Strange that she popped up while I was looking for a Hayley song last night, Sinead O'Connor singing Don't cry for me Argentina. Magic. May she rest in peace now.

Yes I didn't post the video of Sinead singing the song because it's just too painful to watch now. She had a tragic life of course, mother killed in a car crash, son took his own life. But those of us who believe in such things can take comfort in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her loved ones.
"Rest in power Sinead" is trending on social media. She would have liked that.

Every few days now we seem to lose a singer I enjoyed in my youth. Today we said goodbye to Randy Meisner, founder of The Eagles.

Sunday and it's raining so I was looking through YouTube at videos some clever people have been making with songs by Hayley.
Three caught my eye. The first "Never saw blue" with a sealife theme and dolphins.
The second featured my all time favourite "Dark Waltz", a perfect song in every possible way. Exquisite singing, beautiful arrangement. If you want a definition of Classical Crossover this is it.
Talking of rain and clouds....

Happy Easter everyone ! Over the next 4 days Classic FM is broadcasting its Hall of Fame Top 300 as voted for by listeners. This beautiful piece caught my attention, sung by a lady who won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland in 1996 !

Hello Joe. Yes the chart finished for today at 9pm with Caccini's Ave Maria. Sadly they didn't play the version by Hayley so I put that right on Twitter !
