Hayley's tour manager, Nicola, has contacted me again for another interview. This time with Karl Jenkins. That's great news, Nicola. Congratulations. They must really feel comfortable with you and your abilities. Bill

Otherwise I would have popped up there to see him.

My interview with Karl is now up. I did ask him about Hayley's version of Benedictus, and he did answer! It's the fourth question from the bottom. XD bit.ly/6W07wT

Hello Nicola! Karl Jenkins didn't seem too impressed with Hayley's recording of 'Benedictus'. Personally I prefer Hayley's version, even though the crescendo gave me a fright the first time I heard it! Richard

Well I was impressed by it. Did she perform it live on the Pure tour. I feel sure I vaguely remember it on my first Hayley concert, but that night was such a delicious blur I might have misremembered.

Hi Martin,
No, 'Benedictus' was not performed during the Pure tour or at any other time in the UK as far as I know. I believe her only live performance of that song was in Wellington in 2004 as seen on the DVD.

Thanks for that Roger. I know you were there too, and I'm sure you would have remembered.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Martin, but my memory isn't that good! I have a log of every song I have seen her perform live over the last six years... and Benedictus, like my memory, is conspicuous by its absense! Roger

Oh, I think I do prefer Karl's original version because, like him, I miss the cello solo. When I saw it live the cello made me weep like a baby! And I have never had the pleasure of Hayley performing it live, either so I'll never know if she would make me weep too.

I decided to do something crazy. Make a video of samples of different artists. Crazy because I had no clue how to make a video, I didn't even have the software. Admittedly, it wasn't complicated, but it still took me a good few hours to work out all the nooks and crannies. This resulted in this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzZ807YS1xAI was going to do this regularly and put it on the front page of the site. What do you think? I'll generally pick artists at random, but will lean towards new/unknown/forgotten artists to help 'em out a little. But yeah, otherwise, random. Hayley will pop up, no need to worry about that.

Hayley should always pop up. You have also ignored Katherine, Faryl, Sarah, so it is a bit of a showcase for obscure artists rather than the best of the genre (IMO). I would hope you would try to do something to redress Hayley scandalous undre-representation in the media, so she should be in every one!

That's unfair Martin. It's just a random mixture, and yes, with some of the obscure thrown in (Emma Shapplin and Rhydian are not obscure). Regardless what you may think, Hayley is one of the biggest names in the genre - she is not under represented in the crossover circuit. If my website was mainstream, maybe I'd know where you're coming from.
As I have said, I will include all artists sooner or later in those vids. What difference does it make if Hayley is in this fortnight's or the next? And why would I show such favouritism as to include her in every single one? I'm not going to do any of the other artists that favour either. Who you saw in that video won't pop up again in another 6 months, give or take! Sheesh!
