Hey guys, I am starting a new classical crossover project. Probably too large for me to do, but I will try in any case. I have only just started. I won't explain it away and bore you (and if you are interested, you can just click around), I just want to check that my Hayley profile is accurate: Hayley Westenra Profile (feel free to look at others when you're there. I'm just doing the main people first) Are the main details correct? (e.g. how many records sold?) And does Hayley play an instrument? If you want to see how I came to my ratings and what they mean click on the link that says 'Ratings Guide'. I'm sure many will disagree with my ratings, but it's not meant to be an objective opinion (does such a thing exist)? Help would be much appreciated.  And just to clarify! Studio albums refers to an album that was worked on specifically to complete an album. i.e. they did not sit down and record a compilation album, but they did sit down and write and record her two Japanese albums, etc. |

Mostly OK, I'm not sure about records sols, I have heard 4M and 5M bandied about. But I'm sure Dave will put you right if you ask him.
Re instruments, it depends what you mean by play an instrument. If you mean on an album, or on stage, she does accompany herself on piano on Sonny, both on record and on stage. She also played the violin in her busking days in Christchurch, and also is learning the guitar, and uses it to compose songs, were told. She has not played violin or guitar on stage or on record (yet).

Cheers, Martin. I knew she could play a little piano, but wasn't completely certain. I definitely did not know what she played it for Sonny. I got the 3M figure from Treasures product description on amazon. I knew it was a little out of date, but I couldn't find a more recent figure anywhere.  If someone could confirm, that would be great! |

Hi Nicola, I've seen 4m+ mentioned too but I wouldn't place too much credence on it, it could be a bit of Decca creative accounting such as adding in Celtic Woman sales and similar.
3M sounds about right, I've sent you a pm.

I would like to ask if hayley has been to Australia to perform, if not is there any indication that she might perform here in the not to distant future. There is no doubt a thread here that explains her concert timetable but havent found it yet.

Hello John, I looked at my notes and saw that Hayley's last Australia performance was at the Twin Towns Resort, near Tweeds Heads, NSW. (January 2005  - if someone can confirm). Hey Nicola, In regards to Richard's suggestion, maybe you could "order" it... New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, USA, The Netherlands, Canada, The Republic of Chad, Antarctica, and then UK. Joe's information was correct but she hs not been there since. She gave two solo concerts in March 2004 (Melbourne & Sydney) and four supporting Andrea Becelli in September 2004 (Sydney x2, Brisbane and Perth). I am not aware of any plans to visit in the foreseeable future but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Keep an eye on the Concert Board and on the Schedule for further updates. You're doing a grand job there Nicola and I look forward to seeing it develop. Roger |

Thanks Richard, but I wasn't actually putting the biggest markets in order, if I do that for one artist, I would have to do it for everyone else, and not only do I not have that kind of knowledge of all of the artists, but the information is often unavailable. The markets were an educated guess by looking at sales. If I have missed out an important country, let me know. But there's no harm putting Hayley's in order. It might just be a coincidence that it's in order afterall. XD Thanks everyone. Once it is big enough, I'll start promoting it; it's not really ready for readers yet. |

I seem to be having a distinct problem finding appropriate photographs of Charlotte Church and Myleene Klass. In case of the first there only seems to be paparazzi photos of her shopping with comments about her weight, and in the second the only kind of promo shot that she knows is a bikini one. Fan sites are normally the place to go, but Charlotte's are a ghost town with a few bad quality photos. I want pictures that are specifially to do with their crossover career. I only need two of each! The ones I have found will do for now, but if anyone finds any good quality promo photos of these two doing their thing that would be great. I wanted Myleene on the piano, and Charlotte's promo photos from Enchantment. Hayley's photos, on the other hand were plentiful, tasteful and good quality. I had plenty to choose from! EDIT: Jono, only just saw your edit: I don't think the technical elements of Hayley's vocals can be faulted. I think she does have a little issue of diction, but it's too miniscule to lose a star over when everything else is perfect. Besides, I understand her perfectly when she sings live. |

Hi Nicola, I didn't have any photos of Myleene but I have just taken some screenshots from a DVD, 'Classic FM TV, Hits - Volume 1'. They are not ideal but they show Myleene playing a distinctly crossover arrangement of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. Copyright: Universal Classics & Jazz (2003). I also just endured problems with Amy Nuttall, but I eventually found two tasteful photographs. And I seriously mean eventually. I think that's the last of the tabloid pin-up profiles, however, so hopefully no more problems! XD

I am now struggling with Yulia. I found photos just fine - and I realised just how stunningly perfect this girl is:  Anyway, her website is awful. Just awful. I had to download a pdf to read a bio (why?!) The bio says that she is a household name in New Zealand. Is that true? I thought her rather obscure. And did both of her albums get to number one? Lastly, I know she got married, what is her surname these days? Might be easier to reserach her if I have her full name. If anyone can point me a nice direction that would be great. And perhaps since I am going on about other artists now it might be best to move this thread elsewhere? EDIT: I think I got somewhere in the end. Don't know how accurate this is: Yulia's Profile |

Hi Nicola,
I don't know if you need this, but her husband's surname is MacLean. I believe Yulia switched from Townsend to it, but I am not positive.
