Operababes have performed Ode II Joy (that's how they spell it) It's on their debut album. Libera also has recorded it. . Saintvox have converted it into a pop song, too.

Thanks, Nicola!!! I wonder if Hayley would ever sing it, I would certainly love it! And, I must admit I was very nicely surprised by Opera Babes: their level is very, very high, much higher than what their rather not serious name suggested to me. On the other side, when you said Saintvox turned it into a pop song, that's definately not what I was expecting, I am rather horrified. You know that I usually am the firstt to applaud most kind of unorthodox creative things done in music, including classical... But this way of using what I consider the greatest music ever composed, merely as a background to a rather bad pop song, it's almost a crime against music. By the way, there was a Spanish pop singer in the 70s and 80s who made a version of the Ode to Joy that became enormously popular in Spain. I like it pretty much. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPvp_OlGIhoMichal

Oh, I think Jade Valerie is extremely talented - but she is pure pop music (she goes under several names: Saintvox, Sweetbox, Eternity and Jade Valerie). She bases many of her pop songs on classical themes - it's what she's so well known for. She's unknown in the West but very popular in the East. I love her music, and I love 'I'm There'. It's all happy to me. Opera Babes are top notch artists. Very good singers. They were marketed in a way they didn't like and they walked out on Sony after their debut album. They shouldn't be underestimated. I really like their debut album. They are still active - but they don't consider themselves recording artists. They love to perform live, and that's it, really. Found the Spanish one too dated (understandably). Doesn't quite fit as a pop song like that, for me.

Hi Nicola,
Thanks, I wondered what had happened to the Opera Baebes. I would guess thatthe "Opera" is more important to them than the "Babes".
They want to be appreciated for their singing. Good on em. I hate the idea that sex has to be used to sell music. To a music lover, the music should be enough. But all young female singers, (and probably male ones too), go through it, including Hayley. I respect those musicians who resist it.

I barely know who they are, I know they sang on the CC charity single 'The Prayer'. Do you know anything about them, and what their links are for social sites and official website? Hi Nicola, Sorry, I didn't see your message till now! Haven't been online much lately. Um well no, I don't know much about them except that it consists of 3 ladies - one English, one Welsh and one Kiwi. I came across them on facebook! After hearing some previews of their songs on their website, I thought it might fall under classical crossover. I'm still unsure of the boundaries of this genre though. Everyone's being voted down, not just Hayley. And it's only noticeable because the voting figures are so low at the moment.

Well done Nicola. You must know I like female vocalists since there are rather a lot of them. Not a criticism though, just something that I noticed. It looks like we will have to wait until April before we get our copies, but it looks an interesting collection. A good opportunity to hear some of those newer lesser known artists too.

We are horribly aware of the lack of male artists - they don't like replying to e-mails! The females jumped at the chance, were grateful and were on the ball. We did have a reply from another male - a few days ago. A bit late getting on the train, methinks! I suppose it doesn't matter too much. CC UK members prefer female artists anyway.

Hey guys, We just launched our fundraiser to keep the website alive, lol! You can see all the details on the front page of our website about what we have going on. Probably the most fun is an album that the Evancho donated to us. The last copy of this album went for $2716! Here's the link if you want to keep an eye on it for fun. We only just put it up: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110642375584
