Dunno Jillian. To me her teeth look different. Teeth like that could never work, since they wouldn't bite at the same time. Is that it? Grant, I agree. I was really looking forward to a new recording of "O Holy Night", I'm sure it would have been the highllight of the album. Also "The Angel Gabriel" Martin Hi Martin, Maybe I'm getting old and feeble but I don't think her teeth look different. I think the photo captures Hayley in a different way though. But I can't quite get my head around whats different. Be Well Larry

Grant, you still haven't answered my question. Do you think this the same photo as on the HSJS2 special edition cover, and if not, which one is it?
Or, are you saying it is a new photo, but they just did things to the photo?
I'm really not sure why you're so negative about the photo. I think it's very pretty, and I don't see how you can say it doesn't look like Hayley. She looks different to me almost every time I see her, and she doesn't photoshop herself! She just does different makeup and different things with her hair.
Her face looks very pretty in this photo. It's just an album cover. It's a lot better than the WSS story photos, that's for sure! Do you think those looked like her? If you do, and you don't think this new photo looks like her...!?

Do you think the photo on the cover of Pure looks like Hayley? To me, it really doesn't. Because of that photo, when I saw her on the Macy's parade, I wouldn't have recognized her at all if the announcers hadn't said it was her. I thought she had dark hair and didn't know she had freckles at all. On the Josh Groban forum, when I told someone that the girl in my avatar was Hayley, they were surprised. They didn't know she looked like that. Again, I'm sure it was because they'd only seen her Pure photos.
So, it seems to me they must've done stuff to Hayley for that photo, and I've never heard anyone complaining about that. To me, she looks a lot more like herself in this new photo than in any of the Pure photos. She doesn't have blue hair.

Or, are you saying it is a new photo, but they just did things to the photo? My apologies. No, I'm not saying that - don't think I ever inferred that and I do believe the image is from a new photo shoot. I agree that Hayley looks different in many of her pictures - it's difficult to explain but different make up; different hair; different lighting are one thing - as I said before, they blend in. Altering a fundamental aspect of the persona doesn't! As I also said, most people won't notice, it's only my opinion and I don't want this to get blown out of all proportion. Best wishes Grant

Hi Libby,
I suppose I never actually thought much about the Pure photos. I had never met Hayley then, and just accepted things at face value. I had only ever seen her on stage from a distance. And I don't think I thought about it. So perhaps the Pure photos were tweaked as you suggest. But of course she has grown and changed too. We all do. If you saw me aged 18, would you recognise me now as the same person. I doubt it. OK, that's a bit extreme but Hayley has grown and matured (beautifully) too. And as we have dicussed privately, Hayley's hair colour seems to be different in different lights, in some cases in photographs taken only a few minutes apart. I can't explain it, it is just something that I have observed.

Unfortunately Martin, there are different Hayley's involved here. There is Hayley the person, but there is also Hayley the marketed product. The problem is that it isnt really Hayley on that cover at all - it is Hayley's image. Keep in mind that the picture isnt desgned to make us buy the album - most of us on this site will do that anyway. It is designed to attract others - and is the first impression the album makes. Hopefully it makes that impression on as many new people as possible, Hi Steve,it is not often I agree with you but that is exactly what I was referring to in an earlier post, cheers, Rodders

The title "Winter Magic" leaves me cold. I don't have many magical memories of winter, just that of bitter cold, ice storms, fierce wind-chill, and way, way too much snow. As a kid I thrilled to the days off from school due to blizzards, but the brutal inconvenience of winter always outweighed the fun.
Christmas is a magical holiday and it seems to be linked with winter, but in New Zealand it would be at the start of summer. I guess a regional version of the album in Hayley homeland would have to be called "Summer Magic" but that's not a great title either.

Actually it wasn't Bryan Hyland, it was Johnny Tillotson. I must be going senile! Martin Welcome to the club if you don't already feel a veteran of it! :2fun: I'm ploughing on regardless, even thinking of going back on stage! [There are some who say I never left it or never needed one]! Peter S.

Awwww, come one Steve! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Winter can't be THAT bad! I'd die for a little snow down here in winter! I agree about the NZ issue though. I just have no idea how that is going to work, although, plenty of artists each year release Christmas albums with wintery titles, and they still get released in NZ, even though it's summer here. I guess people here have come to accept that they are the minority in the festive season! Dori

Hello Dori and everybody! According to Yahoo Answers, only about 10% of the world's population lives in the southern hemisphere. In other words, 90% of Hayley's potential market lives in the northern hemisphere, so her international albums should take this into account. Best Wishes, Richard

Well, I've just been trying to translate some of the Japanese on CDJapans website, just to reassure myself that I've ordered the right thing.
The title, Fuyu no Kagayaki, I think comes out as something like "Radiance of Winter" or perhaps the original title "Winter Glow". So in Japan, there is nothing magical about winter.
I'm sure there will be plenty that is magical about this album though!

I agree Steve. Title aside however, . I am having problems getting excited over the prospect of a "Christmas album" in general. There are many specific reasons why Christmas albums are released, but it alnost always boils down to general categories. Usually they are eaither a cashing in of existing popularity (like Mariah Carey or Charlotte Chiurch) or a holding pattern suggesting some uncertainity of what to do next. Sometimes there is some element of both involved.
In this case, particurly as this follows on the heals of a "best of" release, I strongly susoect the latter. I could be wrong of course

Hi Jon,
In general I agree with you. However, Hayley is perhaps different to some of those other artists in that she always does Christmas concerts. And they are always well liked. So for her a Christmas album is long overdue, and a perfectly natural thing for her to do. It is a long time since MGTY.
I think the idea of "Winter" rather than Christmas is to try to give it a life beyond the festive season. I seem to remember reading that the inclusion of some non christmas songs on MGTY was done for the same reason.

I'm really excited for this album. I heard "River" for the first time about a week ago and it should be fun to hear Hayley's version. As for the cover? I love it. Simple, but elegant. <3 Caitlin
