Hi Tracy The HWI site and forum are run exclusively by her fans and have done since they were set up back in 2003. Hayley nor her management provide input to the site but we do get news and concert updates from Bedlam which we post to the relevant threads.
The same is true for Hayley's official website which is run by Decca.
As far as Jackie is concerned I am not aware that Hayley has any connection whatsoever and they certainly have never performed together.
I hope this answers your questions.
Best wishes Martin

To anyone. Does this site actually belong to Hayley or is it run just by her fans? I have listened to Jackie’s voice, wow she is good isn’t she. Can I ask does Hayley have a connection to Jackie, I noticed that a lot of the posts relate to her and I’m guessing that Hayley is promoting her in some way. Have they sung together? Much love Tracy. This is a forum run by the fans of Hayley Westenra. There are thousands of individual topics to discuss on the forum, and we are always free to create even more. This section we are in right now is the one devoted to other singers that Hayley fans like. If you look around you will find other pages about other singers as well - everyone from Enya to Taylor Swift. Jackie is getting a few more posts than normal right now because her career seems to be taking off rapidly, and she is making many appeaances in the US I am aware of no direct connection between Jackie and Hayley, other then the fact that Jackie does mention Hayley as one of her influences.

Very strange to hear a 10 year old whose voice already has so many characteristics of a mezzo I agree in that she is extremely well-trained and has a very mature voice for her age. However, while Faryl was clearly a mezzosoprano when she appeared on BGT at the age of 12, both in timbre or texture (and what a dream of a voice... many adult mezzosopranos sing much better than her, but I am sure they would envy Faryl's voice) and iin range. Jackie can certainly hit quite low notes, but even there, she sounds to me like a soprano. Of course, her voice could change, she is very young, and it's not impossible that she turns into a mezzosoprano, specially if she works on her lower register, but in my opinion, for now, she is pointing more towards a soprano. Oh, and, indeed, such a lovely interview and performance... The cheerleading thing was so funny! And Tracy, this forum is run by fan as is the HWI site and Hayley has no direct input here... However, she joined the forum back some years ago and stepped a couple of times to say hello, and, which is more important, there's a clear evidence that she likes to take a look here from time to time and see what's going on. Hayley may not have any connection to Jackie yet, but I think she may probably be well aware of her (maybe even she was before AGT), so, I wouldn't be surprised for them to get some contact soon and if everyone goes the right way, someday I am sure they'll end up singing together. Just thought I would show you this, as I think hearing an outstanding voice singing a capella is special: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJuVsBojdvoQuite impressive. It's incredible how she, being 10 years old, can have such a sound that, even a capella, can fill a song... And she has the "indecence" of asking "is that good?"! LOL And the three brothers sound very well too, but the younger seems to be too overhelmed by singing for TV... Huh, doesn't it reminds you of someone?! xD... Michal

Michal What I was focusing on was the fact that several of the pieces that Jackie sung were transposed down - even Pie Jesu last night was. This suggests to me that while she is perfectly capable of singing the work in original key, that her she is more comfortably within her tess a bit lower. That would be unusual for a 10 year old who was developing into a high soprano - but lets face it. There isnt a lot of precedent for this Speaking of impressive acapella work, there is a rather informal rendition of Think of Me which Jackie did at age 8. I think it was one of her first recordings. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jOvwJQZxEw

Hi Tracy,
No, nothing of the sort. Except that for some of us, Jackie reminds us of Hayley when she was very young and before most of us knew her. That Pie Jesu, for example, is to my ears a lot like Hayley's version on Walking in the Air, made when Hayley was 12.
I think we are all excited because Jackie clearly has an amazing talent. I have never heard a 10 year old who could sing like that, she's amazing.
Nothing to do with Hayley as you say, but somebody who someday might be just as good. There are not too many of those around.

...Very strange to hear a 10 year old whose voice already has so many characteristics of a mezzo Hey, for what it's worth, I called mezzo on her way back on page 11 (reply #157). To me she sound nothing at all like Hayley. If you want to do a comparison, listen to Hayley's "Groovy Kind Of Love" done at a similar age. Miss Westenra's voice was impossible crystalline back then, effortlessly reaching the highest notes. Jackie's voice, to contrast, seems more coached and doesn't ring as bell-like. She is, in my opinion, headed for a spectacular mezzo voice worthy of The Met -- if that's where she wants to go -- and she might be the youngest ever to do so.

Steve, Chantelle posted some informative posts about voice classification in one of these threads round here - might be Joanna Marie Skillet's thread. The crystalline voice you hear from Hayley makes her a LYRIC soprano, whereas other sopranos have have different timbres - making them dramatic sopranos, spinto sopranos and so on. It's the natural range (though it's not the only component) that determines a singer's classification.
Just to clarify - this competition is done and dusted and they are still insisting on the classical crossover tag. She still doesn't have an interest in opera.

Let's put it in Classical Crossover terms: I think everyone will agree that, when using the voice heavier and with vibratto, Jackie sounds quite like Sarah Brightman, maybe not exactly like her, but rather closer to her than to any other Classical Crossover singer I know. Well, Sarah Brightman is a soprano, while Katherine Jenkins is a mezzosoprano... Can't you tell the difference? Michal

I guess the hand position just looked more odd on a little girl with no bosom yet. :rollin.
Still, I think she could've done without it. It just looked a little put on, is all. Does it really even help? I can see how it would help you focus on your breathing.

I agree, she could have a great career if she is allowed to. It was interesting to see the comments today on Chralotte Church's forum about Hayley back in 2001. History is repeating tself I think, we are seeing someone with a very special talent, who will delight her fans for many years to come if she is given the chance. Let's hope it happens,,and that she doesn't suffer the fate of so many child stars of being burnt out by 20. If she is pushed to far too soon, I fear that that could happen.
