I dont want to beat this topic to death, being off topic on an off topic forum but in the US most people dont get one shot - the market here is just too chaotic. The lucky ones that do get one shot tend to try to take it. Doors are probably open for Jackie right now. They might not be 5 years from now. I could be wrong of course

My own feeling is that a I want to be listening to Jackie (and Hayley) for many years to come. That's why I would not like to see her go for the money now. It will be interesting to follow how her voice develops in years to come Already remarkable, her voice will improve as she matures if handled correctly, just as Hayley did. I don't want her to be a forgotted child start during her best years.
Hayley, in my opinion is a much better singer now than she was at 15, when her biggest commercial success was. Memebership of HWI, and hits on my own YouTube videos of Hayleys recordings are steadily increasing. And we all expect her new album to be something very special indeed. I don't think she is fading either.

Jackie's handlers should be looking for doors outside the States if they want to take full advantage of her 15 minutes. The UK has a much better track record of launching young singing sensations like CC, Hayley and Faryl. Classical crossover is a legitimate career there for aspiring singers and it gets them tons of exposure and photo opps with royals and famous composers. America has no such tradition and Jackie would face an uphill challenge getting established. The AGT talent show is history now and few people can even name this year's winner. I'm willing to bet that Jackie is more on the map in the UK than anyone realises and her potential there might be several times greater than anywhere else, and best of all she could easily be seen as "the next Faryl" or "a future Hayley".

I think you may be right: America is the biggest market, but not in Classical Crossover: there's some Classical Crossover there, Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman and Il Divo... But for Jackie to fully suceed in the Classical Crossover as she seems to wish, there are much more chances in England. But, of course, Jackie may not want to move away from the USA, specially at her age. Michal

I think Jackie will get along just fine in America. She won't be considered part of the classical crossover market, per se, she's coming from the AGT audience market, a la Rhydian Roberts.
Even so, I hope she keeps herself low key - performs every now and again - a few weeks of promotion leading to an album release, but other than that, be at school. She's ten.

I agree about school, Nicola. That's one of the things why I said that she may not want to move away. And, in short term, she may do fine in the USA with AGT audience, but as Steven said, most people will forget about her soon, American market is very competitive and as I said, saturated, and to keep in the market you need a constant exposure in the media, even more than in European markets (all I say about the American market here is made without a deep knowledge of it and is rather based on assumptions, so, please, correct me if I am wrong). But well, at least there will be a not that small bunch of people who will not forget her (I will surely not forget her), ready to buy and support whenever she releases an album... I think that's pretty much enough for her, I hope too that, for now she keeps with her life and education, she seems extremely inteligent and it would be a shame to see her sacrifice it for fame.

Before any of this happens, she does have a 25 city tour to do along with the rest of the top 10 AGT finalists.
I could be wrong, but I dont think that the US and "low key" generally mean the same thing for good or ill. Her parents can back her away from the market, but it comes at the peril of losing the moment. She doesnt exactly tap into the cc market per se, but she does, if you will pardon the pun tap quite micely into the CC market. There is a short term, but nonetheless quite significant market for pretty young singers who can be cast as "angels" in America. I am not saying that this should be done, however, the last two performances on AGT suggest that someone may already be doing this.

On to a different "Jackie" topic.
One thing that kind of bugged me about her performances was her hand position. I thought this was supposedly for breath support, but she holds her hands too high for that. It just seemed like she was making a show of it, not that she actually needed it. I remember seeing Sarah Brightman do that, but she didn't hold her hands that high. Also whenever she spoke, she sounded as if she was reciting lines. I wonder if she just had things ready to say ahead of time, and just recited them when asked questions. They do tend to ask similar questions sometimes. Maybe it had to do with her being nervous, I don't know.

Jackie mimicks Sarah's performing style. I've watched all of Sarah's concerts on DVDs, and yes, she does lift her hands that high. Especially in her 1997 concert in the Royal Albert Hall. I remember buying her Eden concert when I first began to like her in 2000 and I found the arm movements off putting for ages. Then I just got used to it. I accept it as all part of performing now!

Jackie just sang "Pie Jesu" on the Tonight Show after first being interviewed by host Jay Leno. Her performance was excellent, if a bit déj**SPAM? PLEASE REPORT vu to anyone who watched AGT.

Well said Steve! Jackie's appearance was such a delight! She talked about ALL her pets...her reaction to Jimmy Smit's praise was touching. How did you like that school cheer? And another perfect 'Pie Jesu'. Can't wait to see this again!

I thought she might have been a bit more relaxed than she was on AGT. On first hearing she certainly seemed very accurate....and I also didn't note any breathing problems. I was hoping in a way that she would not do Pie Jesu. (I was hoping for something from Phantom perhaps) - but the song choice was hardly a surprise. Incidentally, Charlotte Church sang the same song on her Tonight Show debut. One thing of note was that she was the second guest and therefore got quite an extensive interview. It occur ed to me that the reason she was actually there was to shill for the upcoming AGT tour - which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me actually since as the runner up she isn't the headliner. (Note, my sense of irony is running high these days ) Very strange to hear a 10 year old whose voice already has so many characteristics of a mezzo

To anyone. Does this site actually belong to Hayley or is it run just by her fans? I have listened to Jackie’s voice, wow she is good isn’t she. Can I ask does Hayley have a connection to Jackie, I noticed that a lot of the posts relate to her and I’m guessing that Hayley is promoting her in some way. Have they sung together? Much love Tracy.
