Sorry, I'm not picking a fight, just genuinely curious, but Jackie has just one thread out of 4000+. How can she be taking over the forum? I just don't understand.

RANT WARNING
Each morning I come to this site and check "View The 50 Most Recent Posts" to see if there is any news about Hayley Westenra.
Just lately at least half of the most recent posts have been about someone else.
If I want to read about another singer I'll go to their website.

I see. I never use that facility so it's not something I would have realised or noticed.
There's no need to get angry about it. She's topical at the moment and if she makes it big, means a lot to the classical crossover genre in general, by promoting it, and thus helping Hayley. I see it as one big pool, but appreciate that others don't. I'll talk about Jackie elsewhere from now on. x

Hello again Nicola,
A significant majority of the posts in the last few days have been in this one thread. If you look at the 50 most recent posts you'll see what I mean.
Edit: You beat me to it, Roger.

Just lately at least half of the most recent posts have been about someone else. If I want to read about another singer I'll go to their website. Sorry, but this makes no sense in a thread specific to "someone else". This thread is specific to Jackie Evancho, and currently she has been all over the media, so naturally it's the latest buzz and people are going to talk about her, especially on her own thread here. The entire forum is for Hayley fans, but we're at the tail end of a media blitz for Jackie on AGT, so once that dies down so will the chatter. To freeze a thread about Jackie because people are using it to talk about Jackie is a real head-scratcher. That's like shutting down the Hayley forum because people are talking about Hayley....yes, it makes that little sense. As Nicola pointed out, consider the fact that Jackie's success is good for classical-crossover as a whole, and introduces it to a lot more people who had never considered it before Jackie appearing on AGT. That's good news for everyone in the classical-crossover pool, and it's no threat to Hayley....quite the opposite, in fact. As much as I love Jackie, I would be thrilled to see her perform with Hayley, and I hope the Evanchos consider pursuing that eventually.

I am a loyal Hayley fan. Having said this, I have almost zero interest in topics like Hayley's earrings. I dont personally care for pages and pages of non topical photography. In the absence of Hayley appearances here, and in the absence of recently recorded music, what exactly are we American fans supposed to discuss?
Obviously some forum members are more equal than others.

Hi Roger and everyone, Clearly, there are some polarised opinions about this among Hayley fans, which makes the management of it a bit tricky. Both sides of the argument have some valid points and that is why we are keeping the thread open but it does mean that members who don't like it will have to bear with it until the excitement dies down (as it will in due course) but... today is only one day after the final. Clicking the new "Hot Topics" menu button may help you as then, it is easy to recognize which threads are about Hayley and which aren't - you can easily click through to the latest posts in the relevant threads. On the other hand, I would ask those who do wish to discuss Jackie not to overdo it, but for the moment I will leave it to your own judgement as to exactly what that means and we'll see how things go. Well done to Jackie for her second place in the final. Dave

Ok, I would usually not enter such polemic discussions, specially when it concerns about the general running of the forum. However, I will point out my opinion and some facts I consider relevant.
First of all, I understand the concerns expressed by those members, specially if using the "last 50 posts feature", it could be understendingly annoying to see so many posts about something not related to Hayley. However, even in this less than a year I've been in the forum, there were times with almost no news about Hayley, yet, the forum remained active, and, if don't remember wrong, many times it was mainly through the "Other topics" subboard, in threads like "The Chat Thread" or "Photography"... Maybe it wasn't as intense as it has been happening with Jackie lately, but I don't think we should worry about off-topic threads taking at times more relevance than Hayley threads, I think it helps to keep the forum active. Oh, and I wanted to point out that those of you who are used to the "50 last post feature" may find even more useful the new "Hot Topics" feature, this way, you don't have to read the threads that aren't of your interest.
I will move back to the Jackie topic, I want to express my opinion, but I have some work to do (first week back in the university, very exciting, but already lots of work), so, I'll do that later.

I'm afraid I have no problem at all with non-Hayley related discussions on the forum. If you are not interested in a thread, you don't need to read it. It is as simple as that. Jackie is of interest becaase her music is similar to Hayley in her younger days, and it is likely that people who enjoy Hayley's music will be interested in Jackie too. The discussion might even attract Jackie fans to HWI, where they then discover Hayley! Like Michal, I have moved away from the 50 latest posts facility in favour of Hot Topics, which allows you to choose which threads you read. As a UK person, I might never have heard of Jackie or known what was going on in AGT if it hadn't been for this thread (OK I would have noticed her existence on Nicola's site I'm sure, but that isn't really a news site). I can understand though that some people might not want to wade through hundreds of posts about artists unrelated to Hayley. That's why we have the Other Music board, which makes it east to avoid all discussion of oother artists if you prefer that.

Hi all, The off-topic subboard and its threads are doing just as they have been intended to do. I just wanted to point out to everyone that this week I've seen almost a two-fold increase daily in the number of first-time guests to the forum...all because of this thread. Hopefully at least one of the-almost 1000 has taken an interest in Hayley i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifYou will all agree that Jackie has an amazing singing talent. Especially when a million dollars is on the line. I don't think any of these posts detracted anything away from Hayley. I can guarantee that activity in this thread will calm...until next Thursday SO as a compromise, friends, kindly steer away from posting your like/don't like "this thread" thoughts...like I said, only news and discussion please . Best wishes and thanks for your patience Joe

I've added a link on Jackie's forum (jackiefans.proboards.com) to Hayley's forum, because I want these new fans from AGT to get an all-around experience with classical-crossover, beyond just Jackie herself. I also linked to Nicola's site, Classical-Crossover.co.uk for the same reason. I actually learned of Hayley a while ago because of Jackie and the music that influences her, and Hayley's music was included. And I'll say it again - I would love to hear her sing with Hayley (someone tap Hayley on the shoulder, please)!

 Hi All, I'm so happy that the U S has produced an soprano worthy of a thread on HWI. There is hope for us here in the states. Larry

Michal Hi Michael, As an avid fan of Hayley from the U S I have to take exception with your post. I have traveled to the U K six times to see her in person at a considerable cost to me. Having said that I find it a bit disingenuous to fault people from recognizing a amazing talent like Jackie. Hopefully it's not because she's from the U S. Michael, Jackie is a phenom as recognized by the industry. Thus I find it somewhat strange that you need time to form an opinion that the rest of the world has already embraced as a genuine phenomena

Sorry, but I'm finding this all a bit ridiculous. If you don't want people talking about something other than Hayley, then don't have off-topic boards. Problem solved. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAnd I'm a little confused as to what next Thursday has to do with anything. AGT is done, and it wasn't on Thursdays, anyway.
