Well, I’m afraid there’s too much evidence pointing to trouble. I reread the article from Libby’s link that I had mentioned reading a few years ago. I’m even more convinced there’s a problem now. That photo above of her kneeling shows obvious extreme weight loss. I had a friend in college who struggled with this and it was really tough. She had to be hospitalized for IV nutrition. I don’t know where or how she is now after many years. Anyway, not much we can do about Hayley except support any music that MIGHT appear one day. I sure hope it does. BTW, she’s been my own singing inspiration for several years since I first heard her sing “May It Be”. I’m a soprano and I just love her clear high notes from back then, Dark Waltz is another favorite. BTW I’m female, real name is Debbie. I just pulled “Sundae” out of the air for a forum name 😊

Libby, my reference to Hannibal Lecter was intended to be positive. At the end of Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal Lecter is on the 'phone to Clarice Starling. He says "I have no plans to call on you, Clarice. The world's more interesting with you in it. So you take care now to extend me the same courtesy.". One needs to have seen the film to understand this quote and thus my reference to it. In my paraphrasing, I wrote "better" when I should have written "more interesting". Aged memory on the blink again.
Regarding eating habits, may I suggest that we refrain from further graphic detail? The recent photos of Hayley kneeling in front of the modern art posted by ROB are all too clear. I regret to say that I think Martindn and Sundae are probably right.
The situation more generally is, I fear, far from positive. The various recently published items on Hayley's companions' Instagram sites provide evidence, albeit circumstantial, of further turmoil. I accept that I'm doing a certain amount of reading between the lines, but as I noted in my previous post, when things don't fit, something is afoot. If one slots in a particular hypothetical piece of the jigsaw, much falls into place, including the on-going none-appearance of the fabled album. My hypothetical jigsaw piece still leaves some gaps, but they're much smaller. My reasoning here is probably best left for another time.
Regardless of the actual situation, Hayley's public persona seems to me to be an ever deepening PR disaster. I have long assumed that both Hayley and Chris have separate personal Instagram etc. accounts which are none-attributable (i.e. account names nothing resembling their actual names such as xyz123) which they use for family and friends. Therefore the two accounts we see contain the content which they want to release publicly. Wow! Significantly, both are now quiet and Hayley has recently pulled selected content from hers. Also, I would have expected Hayley to ask her friends not to post material about her unless she was happy with it. Therefore I assume that she is happy with what they are posting. Again, wow! Whatever may or may not be happening, if Hayley intends a comeback, then surely the correct approach would be the occasional properly managed and choreographed photo or video clip (e.g. "Greener lands"), together with some news on the professional aspects of her life. Instead the output taken as a whole seems to have descended into teenage banality.
To support the thinking which I describe above, my scenario "wargaming" has been ranging far and wide. I'll leave you with one of the outputs: who now controls "@chris_gaelan"?

.... Most of what you say there, Crissy, comes off as a little garbled to me, so I'm not going to comment on much of it. I don't understand the purpose of the last question. Clearly, nobody controls his account accept him, and that, just barely. Anyway, who cares? Whoever posts doesn't post much... but, again, he DID post a photo of Hayley on her birthday. Now don't tell me Hayley did that herself. If she barely posts on her own account, it would seem she doesn't want to share much of anything with us. So why post about herself on someone else's account. That makes 0 sense. Sure, since I'm finished analyzing the article on the topic, and revisiting some of the key quotes therein, sure, I will refrain from going into further graphic detail. So then, can you now refrain from going into graphic detail on the status of Hayley's relationship. Great! I knew you'd agree. Yes, Sundae, I agree that there would appear to be trouble. We just don't know what it is, and may never know for sure (it took about 3 years for [all of] us to find out about the breakup the first time). Eating disorders are often about more than just weight obsession, as Hayley noted herself in the article. I also learned that fact in health classes, that they feel they can't control anything else in their life, so they control their diet/weight. Another question warranted by her wedding, and her current situation in general is... where is her family?? Yes, New Zealand. But, why did not one single family member attend? Nobody aside from Chris, Stan, and the "minister" were familiar to us. Some of her old friends even in CA seem to have been abandoned. I'm still following some of them, i.e., Alberta Cross, and Viktoria Hansen, whom it seemed she was close with for her first year in CA (also for a bit in London). I still follow them, and I see no interaction with them anymore whatsoever. Are they now forgotten? Oh well, I guess there's no reason for me to worry about it, but am just noticing it. I think the only old friend connection I've seen is with Natalie Holt.

I lied, I'm going to go back to the eating disorder subject. But this time I'm not going to discuss Hayley's experience (I pretty much said all I have to say on it, short of repeating myself). Instead, I'm going to talk about an Olympic figure skater, Gracie Gold of the US, who has been dealing with an eating disorder, depression, and anxiety for the past several years. Her story has a lot of similarities to Hayley's (the 2011 version, that is). Gracie's issues started about the same way Hayley's did, although in Gracie's case, it was a coach who told Gracie when she was only 16, that, following a weigh-in, her weight was "an awfully big number"! Unfortunately, coach abuse of this nature (and worse) is common, esp. in female athletes. So, Gracie's response was the same as Hayley's: start a diet of barely eating, and be proud of herself losing weight. She said that she would have a tomato and a cup of coffee for the whole day. People told her she looked great, and compared her to Gene Kelly. And let me tell you, I never suspected a thing! It's normal for figure skaters to be very slender, especially at Gracie's age (at the time). Most other skaters her age appear to be in the exact same shape. Although she was eating poorly, she was still training as an athlete, so you didn't see someone looking frail (which, unfortunately, I do to some degree with Hayley). Gracie Gold did well at the 2014 Olympics, placing 4th, just shy of the podium. But, after a poor showing at the Worlds in 2016, she began to fall into a deep depression, and began to despise her body. At the time she was living alone in Detroit for her skating career, and she got so all she wanted to do was hide in her apartment. So now, here's where the similarities with Hayley end: Gracie's situation actually did become dire. She began having suicidal thoughts. Thankfully, that didn't happen to Hayley, and hopefully never will. However, here's a quote from Gracie that brings to light that this problem is rarely, if ever, just about food: "“It wasn’t just one thing,” Gold told the Guardian of the still-private events that triggered a chaotic time of intense emotional highs and lows. “That’s where people don’t always fully understand at times. They want it to be this happened, you got depressed and then this was the result. It was perfect storm of a bunch of tiny things that added up so quickly. My skating, my social [life], [my sister] Carly, my mom, dad, my body. Everything in my life lit itself on fire simultaneously.”www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/jan/27/gracie-gold-comeback-depression-anxietyLuckily for Gracie, she was offered help by the US figure skating team when they were preparing for the coming season. That's another difference with athletes; they are in contact with people constantly for their sport, where some astute person eventually recognizes that there is a problem, and has resources available to offer them to get help. Not so with Hayley! She just has cigarette smokers around her, and gets her guidance from "mystics" (she just followed yet another mystic today). I will now show you photos of Gracie Gold. When she was struggling with her body and weight, and one of her now, after her recovery: The costume and makeup here seem to illustrate her darker days: So you see, the difference isn't always extremely obvious. I would guess that some of you older folks never studied anorexia or bulimia in school.

Now this is interesting. Is this new? It came up in my usual search. Never seen it before. www.instagram.com/explore/tags/chrisgaelan/Click on the single photo, and this appears along with a number of other related accounts. http://instagram.com/p/B2vj3EDlBif Lots of photos that we've seen come and go. Most out of chronological order. Can one shuffle the order in which photos appear in an Instagram account, or does this suggest new accounts with photos added in random order? Any clues, anyone?

Even stranger! I put two hyperlinks into my previous post. When I clicked on "Create Post", the second developed a white background then expanded into the entire Instagram page complete with its own hyperlinks.
How did that happen?

I've look at some of these in detail now and there's some very peculiar material on them.
I conclude that they must be third party accounts displaying material culled from the pukka accounts over a period of many years.

I'm not sure what the mystery is here, but we saw that story photo posted a week after their wedding, and we found out it was at Capitol Records. Where have you been?

Here you go, Crissy. Originally posted by Jason Lowrie, just as I thought (but didn't want to say without checking first): I just saw them too...weeeeeeee. I had to edit out the understandably excited expletive from the bottom pic. All courtesy of @jason_lowrie on Instagram. Honestly, your last several posts have been a little confusing to me. LOL

I must have forgotten about those posts and the accounts that host them. My befuddled aging memory on the blink again.
Sorry if my posts can be confusing. I'm trying suggest some ideas whilst still trying to be reasonably discrete. I accept, though, that I'm going to struggle to achieve both objectives.
Meanwhile, no news, as has been the trend for a long time now, continues to be no news. Even her companions' Instagram account have gone very quiet. Is this a coincidence, I wonder, or is it linked?
Sadly, I find myself in accord with an element of Libby's post of the 6th regarding the general decline. It seems to me that there is a "crash and burn" aura about the situation. If this continues longer term, it's "game over". Eight months (or nearly eight months) is clearly plenty of time for water, and perhaps people, to flow under the proverbial bridge.

I too have a feeling it’s all over as far as an album from Hayley. Just think of all these past few years we’ve been watching and waiting and looking for clues. . . . It was looking promising for a few months but now all hints, clues or mentions from her are gone. Her living situation looks like an unlikely environment for music. I see other musicians previewing their upcoming albums on social media. From Hayley, nothing. Not even a cryptic mention like she used to do. Either it’s all been abandoned by her or rejected by her publisher. Sorry for my pessimism. If someone can provide a brighter view, please do! And she hardly looks healthy enough to do much about it anyway . . (Sorry for the pessimism)

Well, everything does look a little bleak, but it is for just about everyone at the moment. It has been somewhat bleak for me, but of course there were other things going on besides the virus that contributed to that. The quarantine just made everything worse. But things are looking a tiny bit brighter for me now, but the quarantine is still a big hindrance. If nothing else, I've been getting lots of R & R. As far as Hayley and her album are concerned... based on her New Year's post, I really do think she had something planned for this year. However, her usual delays coupled with the quarantine have brought things to a grinding halt. I don't know what that means for her album after the quarantine, but it could certainly mean another year or more. While I applaud the efforts to creat an album all on her own, I regret deeply that she did not (most likely not) either, 1. stay with her record company (if she had any say, that is), or 2. find another record company, or at least some sort of management. Because I'm beginning to feel she's turned into a "starving artist"... sorry, bad pun, considering the topics of late. If she has a job, as we've wondered before, her level of skill would likely be in the "essential" category. Most jobs that don't require a college degree or vast amounts of experience would be things like store clerks, bank tellers (I have a friend who is one and is essential), or food industry. Unless it's a bar, and those are closed, or movie theater, and those are closed as well. Speculation is all we have at this point. Sorry.

Reminds me of a song (which I could imagine Hayley singing): LA is a great big freeway, Put a hundred down and buy a car In a week, maybe two they'll make you a star Weeks turn into years, how quick they pass And all the stars, that never were, are parking cars and pumping gas.

I think Hayley will still retain for a while enough fame to launch a comeback in New Zealand if she wanted to.
But I don't know if she does. I think I would be pleasantly surprised if she did?
I sort of think that golden era of classical crossover circa 2000 to 2010 was a moment in time that has now ended. But to be fair, only so many covers of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' need to be recorded.
Hayley had a stratospheric rise to prominence that involved some very clever marketing and being released at precisely the right time. But I never got the impression she wanted to play the role of the classical crossover diva. It wasn't a natural match - as say it was with Katherine Jenkins.
And I think that music was a path that was chosen for Hayley when she was very young as opposed to something she chose for herself. And I sometimes wonder if some record company dealings may have left her with a bad taste in her mouth, which has resulted in her walking away from the business side of music.
In this day and age of social networks and YouTube, if there was content she wanted to share, it would be out there.
As much as I would love to hear her in concert again -- I think all good things come to an end. I kind of think she's moved onto a new life. It's 17 years since Pure was released, so a lot of time and water has gone under the bridge.
And for those worrying about Hayley -- I wouldn't. It's just textbook middle of the road hipster stuff lol
