Is there more than 1 concert in Taiwan? In the Dudley thread, they kept mentioning "Taiwan concerts". Also, I remember reading somewhere that because this concert was sold out so quickly, they were going to try to have a few more concerts? Is that true? Or would they just wait for another time?

Hello everyone Looks like Hayley is flying out today. She tweeted the following at about 4.30am this morning! Unless, of course, she tweeted from the plane and they're already on final approach!. Now that would be a first!! Best wishes Grant

Or maybe she's on a stop over somewhere? I don't think they do direct flights to Taiwan, so perhaps she's changing planes at somewhere like Beijing or Bangkok?

Hi Jillian,
It won't be Beijing I'm pretty sure, flights from mainland China to Taiwan are pretty rare for political reasons.
That tweet was almost certainly from either Bangkok, Hong Kong or Singapore. I know that both Bangkok and Singapore airports have free WiFi (I changes planes at both last year) so she would have tweeted whilst waiting for her connection.
That means that she has a wireless enabled laptop with her, as she tweeted from the web rather than a phone. So you never know, we might get some more tweets during the tour if she can find an internet connection. The ones in hotels tend to be pricey though!
And you are right, there are no direct flights from London to Taiwan.

Hi All, From Taiwan Information centre: english.chna.edu.tw/ct.asp?xItem=11500&ctNode=517&mp=1"After wowing the Taiwanese by singing in Mandarin, Kiwi soprano Hayley Westenra has clearly won new fans in the island of 23 million. Tickets for the star's first Taiwan concert in October sold out in a day after her performance at last week's opening ceremony of the 8th World Games. It is now impossible for people to get tickets for Westenra's Moon Festival show at the National Concert Hall on Oct 3, where she will perform with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra. The performance will be broadcast live at the Outdoor Square between the National Concert Hall and the National Theater." Graeme

Wow, that's great news, Graeme! I read an interview with one of Australia's biggest concert promoters the other day (might have been Dainty) and he said the best way to promote an artist is to create the impression that each concert is a 'must go, once in a lifetime event'. Having limited shows that are completely sold out is an excellent way to create such an aura around Hayley -- leave the public hungry for more. That way, there'll hopefully be a strong demand when she goes over there again in the future.

Wonder if Dainty has ideas on that.

Hi Graeme, I don't know if Australia has an immunity -- they haven't had much of a chance to be exposed to her -- it's only by sheer chance that I know who Hayley is. Fingers crossed that there will be more promotion here with forthcoming albums.

Ooh, it'll be broadcasted, so hopefully that means it'll eventually be on Youtube! Great song choices, especially Hana and The Moon... I wonder if that means Shin will be there? That seems very likely.

Hello Libby! From what I've read, I believe the concert is only being broadcast on a giant screen in a public square in Taipei. I don't think it will be shown on TV, but I could be wrong. Richard

Richard Richard, Yeah I think you might be right on that. That's what I've heard too. Someone from Taiwan said it would be on the big screen outside for everyone to see for free, but not on TV. Jono

Hi Jillian
Thanks for finding these articles and another lovely picture.
Interesting to hear about acting. I'm sure Hayley has mentioned before that she would like a part in a play or a movie and this interview suggests that her management may be looking at this aspect of her career - or that may just be the translation.
Nice to hear her mention her fans and the fact that she would appear to take clothes for all weathers when she travels. That's a very English trait!
Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant,
I think acting would be a good idea -- maybe in an Asian film to capitalise on her success in those countries?
