We can do away with all those inferior standards that the EU imposed on us. Back to pounds, shillings and pence, feet and inches, Fahrenheit degrees.  Martin D Well I for one still use feet and inches, and so do my grandchildren, who are still at school! But decimalisation of the pound and the change from Fahrenheit to Celsius occurred before we embarked upon the Great European Journey, a journey now seemingly set to come to an end. Dave |

Dave I seem to remember that the change to Celsius was done to prepare us for future EU membership. And no, I don't want to have to change all my weather records back to Fahrenheit. I hadn't intended to say anything further on the referendum but I just had to mention one thing. Two friends of mine are non-British, one South African and one Italian, and both have been working here in the UK for several years now. Following the referendum result, both have received despicable comments about their nationality and presence here in the UK.
At times like this I feel ashamed of my country.

Yes Martin, you are right. This is about politics, not racism. We
are not out of Europe, just the political structures of the EU. The two are very different. I love France Italy and even Germany, but don't want to be ruled by them. Our own system is better. That is all that we have said. They never ever explicitly repealed the Magna Carta or English Bill of Rights, yet those are both constitutional statutes that must be explicitly repealed in English law if they are to be contravened. Instead, without any mention, they are suddenly subservient to EU law. This is not acceptable.

My goodness, Taylor, I'd forgotten all about them! For some reason we must have decided to put them in my personal web domain and not on the HWI website (though they could be there too I haven't checked) but the reasons why are lost in the mists of time.
They are only 384 x 224 or so, that's what we did back then, but I probably have the bigger better originals tucked away somewhere, so give me a couple of days to see what I can find. If they are good quality, we can probably upload them to the HWI channel.
