Hi everyone,
As you are probably aware, it is not unusual for posts throughout the forum to include a very brief comment or question which does not relate directly to the thread in which it appears. With that in mind, I received a PM yesterday from Sandy who asked if there was a thread where members could just "chat". Well, there wasn't... but there is now!
The idea is that members can post to this thread in the form of an on-going chat about almost anything. If you wish to discuss any particular topic in detail, it probably deserves a thread of its own just as it always did in the past. This thread is intended merely for brief comments, views and questions. The advantage of this thread is that the Moderators should never jump in and request that the discussion doesn't veer off topic. That's the point, drifting from one topic to another in this thread is intended and encouraged.
As ever, I must ask that ProBoards Terms of Service are applied and I would remind members that we do not allow political or religious debate (largely to help us apply the ToS without the need to edit members' posts too often).
Think of it like a group of friends sitting around in a pub. But, for Matt and Libby's benefit, this is not intended to replace or compete with their chat room in any way. That is an entirely different thing.
We have never had a thread like this and so it is a bit of an experiment. When Hayley's part of the forum is particularly active, we may chose to temporarily lock this thread but we will only do so if it is really necessary.
Sandy's other comment was that the existance of this thread could help members to get to know one another a little better and it may even be welcoming to new members.
Even though we are in the Off Toic board, it wouldn't surprise me if Hayley is mentioned on this thread from time to time but it should be limited to little more than a passing comment. Any discussion that is really about her should, of course, take place on the relevant board within the On Topic area (Concerts, Media, Charts or wherever).
So, please remain respectful and chat away! And thank you to Sandy for what may prove to be a very popular thread.
Roger
PS. Well go on, somebody say something!
