I'm excited that next Sunday, CBC (Canada) is showing the gala on TV! I get the local channel from Vancouver (that's how I watch most of my skating), so I get to watch it! That means I'll get to watch Satoko skate to Hayley's song on TV! Among other programs I find exciting. Jillian will know what I'm talking about. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I had a notification today from CD Japan about a new album featuring Hayley "101 Your Best Tunes For Figure Skating" It is a six disc CD set, to be released on February 03, 2016 www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/UCCD-4387It doesn't actually say which track is by Hayley. I suspect it may be Amazing Grace (Disc 2, Track 1)

This skating website shows several videos of the same performance of Satoko's at Skate America, and it even shows the song and an album cover! They're showing the album cover of Hayley's most recent Japanese compilation, though, not HSJS1. I wonder if that's where Satoko got it from, or if the website people just did a search and found the most recent album that has the song on it. Who knows, but either way, great for Hayley! Google translateAnd here's the tweet I found it from: Don't bother hitting translate on twitter; they say something very odd that sounds like Satoko has a growth somewhere. I almost thought it was telling us there was something wrong with Satoko! But thankfully, no.

Satoko Miyahara won the recent Four Continents Championships, held in Taipei last week! Here's her gala program to Hayley's song again. The whole thing is beautiful, but for some reason the ending is my favorite part. I think I forgot to mention that I saw her skate to this program on TV a couple months ago, because the Canadian channel, CBC, that I (thankfully) get from Vancouver, showed the gala for the Grand Prix final in Barcelona. The commentators thought it was a lovely program, and that it could even be a nice short program sometime. I'm excited to see how she does at the upcoming World championships, which are to be held in Boston in a little over a month. Going by the Grand Prix final results, I predict a silver medal for her again (she won the silver last year, too). The Russian girl who won the Grand Prix so far seems very consistent, and so does Satoko. So, anyway, the point is, this Hayley song is quite likely to be heard in Boston in the near future! Here are her programs from the competition, if anyone wants to see for themselves how nicely she did. First, her short program to Firedance (which I believe is from Riverdance?): Next, her long program to Un Sospiro, by Franz Liszt:

Satoko got 5th place at the World championships in Boston this past weekend, but she still got to participate in the gala. Meaning, she skated to Hayley in America! She did in Wisconsin, too, but this is bigger. And, even though we have several videos of her skating to this song now, here's the video of this competition, too (you never know when any of them will be removed): Now, this isn't Hayley, but close. The new ladies' world champion, Evgenia Medvedeva of Russia, skated to YRMU by Celtic Woman, the later recording of the song with all the girls singing (but not Hayley). She did a very nice job and looks very lovely, as well:

So Youn Park of South Korea skated to Hayley's Amazing Grace at All That Skate today! It's a skating show held in Korea, and started by 2010 Olympic champion, Yu Na Kim. Her program is very beautiful.

It is not a descrepancy. Being a skating fan, I'm WELL aware of the fact that Chinese and Korean names are said "backwards". However, the skaters very frequently have their names turned around by the sports networks for the sake of those not from those countries. It's easier for us to understand, you see. I've heard their names said "backwards" and "forwards", but they are generally turned around just so we know what their "first" names are. Being a person frequently called Kim, I am VERY much aware that the name Kim in Korea is NOT a "first" name, therefore, I am fully aware that the 2010 Olympic champion's name is actually said Kim Yu Na, but since everyone says Yu Na Kim, that helps us remember that her first name is Yu Na, not Kim. So, if it's a descrepancy at all, it's very much an intentional one.

My sister showed me a video from Facebook where a local adult amateur skater, who skates under my sister's coach (though my sister hasn't skated in some time) performed to Hayley's Never Saw Blue. I extracted the link, but when I copy and paste it, it tells me "The link you followed may have expired, or the page may only be visible to an audience you're not in." I don't see any way around it. Anyway, since it's not a very high level of skating, it's not the most exciting skating you'll ever see, but it was still exciting that someone used Hayley's music. Here's the link in case anyone can figure it out for me: www.facebook.com/edwinschoneck/videos/10153826263571630/

Hey, guess what! Last night while watching the Ladies' free skate during the US Nationals, I heard Hayley!!! 😍 👏 Caroline Zhang's program was to The Mission, and the credit was given to Yo-yo Ma. And her program did include his version. However... the program immediately opened with the first verse and chorus of Whispers in a Dream!!! Yay!! I wish they would have given credit to Hayley, but the channel wasn't very good in general about music credits. For example, one of the men skated to the music from Romeo et Juliet, yet the artist provided was definitely not the composer, and there was no singing in the program, so I have no idea who the person was. I had assumed he would be skating to I'm Kissing You by that singer, but he didn't, it was only instrumental except for the actors' talking voices here and there.
Anyway, here's the video!

Thanks for sharing that, Richard! That skating club is one I've heard of, so US skaters who've competed at Nationals have come from there.
