Thanks to the new Japanese member on the official forum, I found this video of one of Yukari Nakano, one of Japan's best figure skaters in competition these days, skating to Hayley's Amazing Grace back in 2005: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfozhlcmxQsShe's a very pretty skater. I always like her outfits and choreography. I actually saw her skate live back in October, when this last season's Skate America was in my area. She got 2nd place, behind South Korea's skating sensation, Yu-na Kim.

Here's a better one, of Yukari at a competition later that same year, where she won the gold medal: www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7poOovUOYA&feature=relatedThe choreography is better, and her outfit is prettier. She has such a nice smile at the beginning, too. I guess she would be, if she won! There's an encore at the end, too. No skating fans, here, huh? Not even if they're skating to Hayley? You Brits do have a great ice-dancing team, Sinead and John Kerr, in case you weren't aware! I saw them at the same competition where I saw Yukari last year; they got 3rd place.

Yes, I just found it yesterday, but she's not really skating to it. If you'll notice, they call it a Montage. That means they play a song while showing scenes from their skating programs. There's one of Miki Ando to I Believe, created by the same user (Miki has actually skated to Ayaka's version). This one is unusual in that they show an entire competitive program, from the recent World Championships. Having watched it, and every other senior competition she was in this season, I can tell you for sure that Rachael Flatt did not skate to it. For one thing, only ice dancing couples can use vocals for their programs. Also, the user who posted it is probably from Japan, going by the name. They probably just like Rachael Flatt, a U.S. skater, and also like Hayley, so they used the song. The good thing about this is that it can be found easily by just doing a general search for Rachael Flatt on Youtube, on the first page of search results! It has the least number of views out of all the videos of her, but it's good that it can be found so easily.

Here are more skaters performing to Hayley's music. I'm actually a bit shocked I never posted these in the skating thread before (I'm sure they're all somewhere on this forum, though). Here is Yukina Ota skating to Ave Maria at Dreams on Ice 2009: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOU-ybON6RMHopefully someday she can skate to it with Hayley singing live! I just found Katia Gordeeva's performance to Who Painted the Moon Black? on the Today show, with Hayley singing live: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbt2lBtp83kHayley also performed the song on Katarina Witt's special, which the host mentions at the beginning of this video (it had yet to take place). Katia is the only skater I'm aware of who has skated to more than one of Hayley's songs! Katia skating to Prayer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVClHWLgztUTwo-time World Champion Mao Asada, skating with her sister Mai, to White is the Colour for Lovers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKYivb7MFFU&feature=channelLast, but not least, here is one of a lady in an adult novice-type skating competition, performing to Wuthering Heights! www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKXrJZLL_PoI used to have a video of World Champion Yuka Sato (first Japanese lady to win a World Championship) skating to Amazing Grace on USA's Stars on Ice tour. She had skated to it with Hayley on that same Katarina Witt show, and then she used the song on the entire Stars on Ice tour, in the US, too! I can't find it anymore, though. And a couple years ago, Canadian skater, Jennifer Robinson skated to The Last Rose of Summer, with Hayley & Meav. It was a holiday festival on ice, with Natalie McMaster performing live. That particular festival had a Celtic theme to it. I never found Jennifer's performance on youtube, though.

Hello Anshita! The skaters are Jamie Salé and David Pelletier and it was performed at Gotta Skate V in Toronto on 18 October 2005 (later broadcast on NBC TV and others). A link to Allen's recording of it was first posted on HWI here in this forum by Gerrit and then myself, posted on the HWI website, then copied for Youtube by someone, more than one I think (before we had a Youtube channel). So I will redirect your link to the HWI (hwivid) link if you don't mind, as it's better quality anyway. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYhHecLnpL0Our discussion thread about it is here: hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Media&action=display&thread=488&page=1Cheers, Dave

Oh, yes, and there's Time To Say Goodbye from the same show, where everybody in the show skates at the end. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVIVhYa2-ho&feature=relatedI can't believe I forgot to post those, too! I know they're in separate threads, but I thought it would be nice to compile all the skating to Hayley stuff here. While we're at it, here's Both Sides Now from "Dancing On Ice" a few years ago: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiBcHCNTSWsThe actual skating starts around 2:10.

Thanks for finding that Richard! The ending music was actually from Nino Rota's soundtrack, I think. I can see why, the beginning music of JA's version didn't sound that spectacular, so they probably wanted their ending a little more dramatic. It looks like these Ice Dancers are still in the juniors, which is why I've never heard of them before. Looks like they've been doing well this season. For anyone who doesn't know, Ice Dancing is the only skating event in which vocals can be used in competition. Other skaters can use vocals, though, if the voice is being used as an instrument; just vocals, and no actual words. The "arbitrary" dance is really known as the Free Dance. This is the first time I've seen ice dancers skate to a Hayley song. Now it's men I still haven't seen skate to Hayley, by themselves, I mean (of course there were men skating during Bocelli and Hayley's duet).

Hello Libby! I thought you would enjoy that video. I now believe that it was recorded in Russia, and YUCHR stands for something like Junior Championship of Russia. Richard

Yes, that's the competition that'll determine who's on the junior World team. On the senior level, during an Olympic year, that also determines who goes to the Olympics! The next winter Olympics are in Russia, in 2014.

Well, we now have a new series of "Dancing on Ice" in the UK. They dance to records - not live bands, and tonights choices included the Jackson 5. No sign of Hayley though, and I say here to all of the couples competing, that skating to Hayley will win my vote, however dire the skating (or dancing) is.

Martin D I've seen details of the current series on Wikipedia. Can the songs played get any more diverse than Fred Astaire and Katy Perry? It would be wonderful if Hayley's albums were to be played during one of the rounds...I suppose there is an outside chance of it! Best wishes, Joe

Hello Libby! I've found another wonderful performance by Ekaterina Pushkash and Jonathan Guerreiro, again dancing to 'Un Giorno Per Noi'. Pausing the video at 5:26 reveals that this was the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2009 in Tokyo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=glTI7E2dCwkEnjoy! Richard
