Kathryn Nash has asked me to post the following questions. I know some of them have been discussed in the past but, on this occasion, feedback is being requested and may prove helpful to them and therefore, perhaps, to Hayley.
I hope as many members as possible will reply. I will relay a summary of your preferences to Kathryn as soon as any patterns begin to emerge. I have asked if there is any time limit and will let you know if there is. Meanwhile, as soon as possible is probably a fair assumption.
1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?
2. And do you have a favourite song?
3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?
4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?
Thanks, Roger

I'll start the ball rolling. 1. Treasure. As I said in another thread, I think it's the best mix of different styles that Hayley has put together so far, and she's had a much bigger input with her songwriting and piano playing. Also her voice sounds better than ever, and this album possibly gives a clearer indication of how Hayley will sound in the future. 2. I like too many songs with different styles to pick a single favourite, but all the Maori songs would be on the short list. 3. The River of Dreams tour. So far I've only been to the concert in Northampton, but I was very impressed with Hayley's maturing voice and her relaxed style of presentation. I'm really looking forward to Southend in July. 4. I'd love to buy a new live DVD of Hayley. Richard

1. What has been your favorite album of Hayley's so far? And why? I think I'll have to answer this in 2 parts: International Album: This is tricky as as I like all the albums, but I think if I had to pick one it would be RoD NZ Special Edition, This would be because it has a majority of my favorites songs on it including the new tracks. Regional: Hayley Sings Japanese Songs. I can't really explain it, only other than to say it struck a chord from the 1st time I heard a clip
2. And do you have a favourite song ? ? always the hard question: it would be one of the following: * Wuthering Heights * Prayer * I Know You By Heart so many to choose from 3. What has been your favorite tour of Hayley's so far? And why? Well for me it has be be RoD. This is because it is the first tour I have managed to arrange to see. Plus it featured Hayley's 1st Concert in Cumbria (when Hayley sang Prayer it gave me goosebumps). and At BWH the tracks listings were changed to include new songs.
4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be? I think Live from NZ DVD was a nice idea. I think some signed copies of Programmes, CD's & In Her own voice (maybe the World at her feet) would sell nicely I've seen signed (& framed) photographs on sale at other concerts. Then again these would not be needed at venues that Hayley does a signing.
I've like to see Hayley Store Style Tour Pens, also a new DVD & "Live CD" would be fantastic

Kathryn has now confirmed that Question 2 is asking for your favourite song and is not limited to those released as a single. I have amended my opening post accordingly.

1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?My favorite album is Treasure. It's her most diversified album and her voice is brilliant. 2. And do you have a favourite song?Yes, I have. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif There are so many nice songs which makes it hard to choose but for me "Let Me Lie" really shines out. And the fact that Hayley wrote this song makes it even nicer. 3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?My favorite tour is RoD although I haven't attended a single concert of that tour so far. But I attended the "pre-tour-concert" in Stoke-on-Trent last October so I know what to wait for in Leamington, Southend and Swansea. Unfortunately I missed the Pure tour in 2005 at times when she still came over to Germany. 4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?I prefer to buy things that Hayley can sign for me afterwards like CDs, DVDs, books, etc. A new live DVD would be nice... I hope that helps. Best wishes, Thomas

1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?
I think it has to be Pure. This was the first CD of Hayley's that I bought. Her voice has changed since then, but when I heard her version of Wuthering Heights for the first time, I immediately thought, "Wow!". Hayley's voice was like no other I had heard before, and how she was able to hit those high notes was incredible. When I listen to Pure, it brings me back to when I first discovered Hayley's music.
2. And do you have a favourite song?
A strange choice, perhaps - Melancholy Interlude. A short, simple, beautiful song. So relaxing to listen to. Hayley's voice is stunning and flawless, especially on "waiting" in the line "...and still my heart is waiting".
3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?
Hayley's short tour in Northern Ireland, April 2008. Belfast was my first concert of Hayley's. The first note I heard Hayley sang gave me goosebumps. Fantastic evening, topped off with meeting Hayley afterwards (as well as some HWI members). Unfortunately, I couldn't make the Derry concert the night before. Seeing Hayley twice in two days would've been great. Hopefully she will be back to Belfast and Derry again soon.
4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?
I've indicated before that a Hayley calendar would be brilliant, although that probably wouldn't work if she was on tour, say, in February or March. Anything that could be bought and signed would be grand, such as CD's, DVD's, books, posters, photographs etc.

Hi Roger
My Favourite Album has to be Hayley Sings Japanese Songs. Why, because I love every song on the album, although none of the individual songs match up to for example Pokarakara, or, May It Be etc.
My Favourite song is without doubt - Never saw Blue. Why - to my mind this is the sort of song that Hayley performs best and is the sort of song that I think would work well commercially and could help Hayley to reach a wider audience.
Favourite Tour - Has to be the current River Of Dreams - Why -such a range of songs, less of the classical, very polished performances, simply fantastic !!
I really would love to see another dvd of a live performance - like 'Live In NZ'. I have watched that so many times and I am positive a dvd would sell really well whilst on tour. People are more likely to find her CDs in the shops but are less likely to know about a dvd - ideal to sell after a live show !!
Hope this helps.
Regards Mark

Be warned, I'm going to rabbit on here, because I think I'm going to enjoy this quiz! 1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?Pure. I like Pure the most for two reasons. Firstly, the New Zealand songs on it make it very original and also uniquely Hayley. They were the reason I became a Hayley fan, because I saw those songs on her Live from New Zealand TV special and I had to find out who this girl was so I could listen to them again. (I remember it was HIne Hine which had the effect.) I also like the original songs on the album. Overall, it comes across as a much 'younger' album as it seems to reflect Hayley's youth -- I know she was 16 then, but she's still very young now (Hayley's only a year older than me and I still feel very young!). 2. And do you have a favourite song?Across the Universe of Time -- beautiful lyrics and sound and I particularly liked the way it was performed on German TV in 2004. Link Below. www.hayley-westenra-international.com/video-vault/2004_wmv-player/20041018_Hayleys-third-appearance-onDDRTV_AcrosstheUniverseofTime_prosieben.htmlI also like Wuthering Heights, Santa Lucia, Summerfly and Mummer's Dance -- I love it when Hayley sings upbeat songs where you can really hear the power behind her voice. 3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?Being a newer fan and being in Australia, I haven't had the chance to go to a Hayley concert. (So my favourite tour would be the Australia 2010/2011 tour, ha ha). Seriously, I suppose I would say the tour closest to the Live in New Zealand special (because that's all I've seen). If that doesn't count, the recent Valentines tour with Jonathan Ansell -- because it sounded like a lot of fun -- especially with those fireman lifts! 4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?Definitely a DVD or a live CD. Music DVDs of live concerts would have to be my most favourite music product in the world! Ha, Ha, that was fun! We should do more of these! I could go on forever.

1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?I love them all, but if I was only allowed one (on my desert island ) it would have to be Pure. Why....every track is great and it has my favourite song, see below. 2. And do you have a favourite song? Hine e Hine 3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?Only seen ROD tour + other individual concerts. 4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?DVD of Hayley live 2009. Best Wishes, Graham

1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?
Hayley Sings Japanese Songs by a mile. One of the few perfect abums ever made and my fourth favourite album of all time. Everything about this album is absolutely right, the concept, choice of material, melodies, lyrics, arrangements, and performances. Second is probably Prayer. Of her international albums, Treasure, but she can do much better than that now. I actually prefer my own homemade compilation album of recent live performances, despite the poor sound quality.
2. And do you have a favourite song?
Several. Pokarekare Ana (of course) Hine e Hine (of course) Listen to the Wind Songbird I know you by heart Majesty Blooming Flower (and everything on HSJS) Now is the Hour
There are probably more!
3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?
The Valentines Tour although I didn't get to any of the concerts, I've seen enough on HWI to realise I missed something very special.
4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?
I think things that document Hayley's life. Like an annual concerts highlights DVD or CD, or annual updates to her autobiography, expressing Hayley's views of her experiences.
A Duets album with Jonathan Ansell.

Well, here are my answers!
1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?
I love them all! I love Treasure because it has a great range of songs. I suppose that Treasure would be my favourite. Also, I hope Hayley's next album has a similar style (classical, folk, and her own).
2. And do you have a favourite song?
Again, I love all of them- How Many Stars, Now is the Hour, and Yearbook Photo are some of them though.
3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?
I have never been to a Hayley concert, but the Valentines Tour sounds like it was the best so far. From what I heard, the duets were amasing, and the solos that were chosen were very nice.
4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?
A duets CD with Jonathan Ansell is certainly my top feasiable choice. (preferably mainly including songs that they have not sung yet, although I would buy it either way) As for un-feasiable choices, I would live a DVD with interview footage (including newspaper interview scans), photographs, and rare/uncommon songs.

1. What has been your favourite album of Hayley's so far? And why?
Treasure. There is such a nice variety of styles and beautiful songs, all of which I love. My favorites on this album are the ones she wrote, especially Summer Rain and Let Me Lie. I hope she writes a lot more songs like these in the future. I also really, really love The Heart Worships! Her voice is so beautiful in that song!
2. And do you have a favourite song?
Yes. I have lots of favorites, and it's nearly impossible to choose just one, but I am going to choose "Songbird". Her voice and the lyrics in this song are so beautiful and touching, and it has meant a lot to me personally.
My other favorites, if they count, are Majesty, Summer Rain, The Heart Worships, Never Saw Blue, I Believe, and Benedictus.
3. What has been your favourite tour of Hayley's so far? And why?
The River of Dreams tour. Even though I didn't get to attend any of these concerts, the list of songs has been the best I've ever seen. She sang so many songs I would love to hear her sing live if I could.
4. If you could choose anything to buy merchandise wise on Hayley's tours - what would it be?
A new Live in Concert DVD! Please, Hayley!
