I think Libby has a fair point.
She owns a flat here, so I'm sure she would do more in the UK from the simple fact of that base than has happened recently in her home NZ. There it is 'home' but her family's and for breaks from the business, in the UK her business is centred as are her full-time staff support making it easier to arrange a 'quick one-off'. It seemed it was her promoter in NZ that caused the cancellation of her intentions last time. Too great a distance to manage the close-up detail and PERHAPS NZ doesn't have the resources she inherently needs. Down to earth though she is, she is a big star now and may be pushes NZ's resources to meet her needs?

Oh come on Peter, I'm sure Hayley would be horrified by any idea that she has grown too big for her own country. She has repeatedly said that she feels bad about not having toured there for a while. She was let down by an incompetent promoter that she had put her trust in, that much is clear. And is it so difficult? All Hayley wants to so is stand on a stage and sing. And when she does, all who hear her will be mesmerised. That is the hard bit, and Hayley does it brilliantly. And makes it look easy. The easy bit, arranging for the stage to be there, making tickets available in good time, making sure people know the show is on is what seems to be the problem. And this has led to Hayley having to let the good people of her own country down, something I'm sure she is embarassed about. Promoters in NZ have managed to do this for her in the past, as they have I am sure for many other artists. I can understand why she and Bedlam would be very careful about such things in the future though. And it is Hayley's NZ fans that bear the brunt of it. Any anger they have should be directed to the proper place, the company that let her down so badly.

We Brits totally want to keep Hayley! We try our utmost to get all the top talent from Down Under, including Kylie, Natalie Imbruglia, etc. Of course we want to keep Hayley, too! Best voice of any of them! But that said, I think we could live with her using Britain as her main base for world conquest, if we had to... (And yes, this post is supposed to be very tongue in cheek!

Hello Elliot! In several recent interviews Hayley has said that she wants to be more settled in London and the UK. Just look at all the charity work she's now doing here. I don't think she'll be deserting us in the foreseeable future. Richard

I think you are likely right, Richard Most singers who want to do really well worldwide tend to base themselves in either London or New York, as those are the main centres of the music business worldwide. Luckily for us, Hayley has chosen London

Not intending to make more out of your comment than it says itself but I wonder if she is finding she is not only feeling 'at home' physically but emotionally as well. Judging by the radiance she has displayed in recent public views of her I wonder if that stems from an increasing inner contentment. She is learning to balance her career with living a life and part of that life's living is devoting time to 'making a contribution' in the world, hence her quiet 'getting on' with many charitable interests. In short, she is leaning 'to be'. She is feeling happy with herself. Peter S.

Hello Peter! I don't think there's any doubt that Hayley has been making herself feel at home here ever since 'Pure' hit the charts. I would like to add that she's very welcome here in London too. Best Wishes, Richard

Kudos to her! I don't know how I would settle in a city like London after living in such a beautiful country like NZ! Don't mean to come across unpatriotic or anything, but... London is a dump!

Well, I've been trying to do my bit - I saw that Jason Manford had tweeted about listening to Christmas songs, so I tweeted him recommending 'Winter Magic' Every little helps. I've also been recommending her to people aroun uni who I thought might like her music - including the piano player at Dudley who was assistant accompanist to the choir, as Grant and Karsten may remember.
Cheers, Ben
