Hayley will be releasing her biography "Hayley Westenra - The World at Her Feet" on 3 Nov. in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. See the cover on the left of the screen under my name or click... www.penguin.co.nz/static/covers/all/0/6/0143019260L.jpgThe ISBN: 0143019260 Author: Paul Little Date of release November 3rd 2004 Price: NZ$ 29.95 Synopsis: Hayley Westenra is unstoppable. Her album Pure has sold one million copies worldwide, is the best-selling debut album in the history of the UK classical album charts and has held the longest number one spot on the New Zealand Top 50 album charts. Hayley has signed a £3 million deal for her next five records. She’s performed at Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall; she’s sung with top classical artists such as Jose Carreras, Bryn Terfel and Russell Watson; she’s performed in front of the British Royal Family, George W. Bush and Tony Blair. Posh Spice even wanted her to sing at a party for the World Cup. Hayley was born into a family of singers - her grandparents on both sides sang in pubs and on the radio. Her perfect pitch was noticed by a schoolteacher when at the age of six she performed in a school Christmas play. A demo tape and busking on the streets of Christchurch led to her signing a record deal with Universal. Thus began Hayley’s spectacular rise to fame. This is her story so far. It is also the story of an ordinary Christchurch family whose life has been turned upside down by Hayley’s success. From HW World

Hi Joe, Thanks for posting that. I must admit that I have had that info for a couple of days but been far too busy to post it. What with a lot of structural work at home AND all the Olympics coverage on TV, there wasn't a lot of time for anything else. I was suffering withdrawal symptoms immediately after the little girl "blew" out the Olympic flame. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAnyway, the Olympics is now over and the hardest part of the structural work is now complete. So, I'm back on-line again. Thanks to all who have kept things ticking in my absence. Keith.

I can't help thinking, isn't this rather premature? What warrants Hayley to have her biography out at seventeen? Charlotte's was at fifteen and was rather pathetic.
I suggest Hayley wait a few more years, get more world records under her belt before a biography.

I suggest Hayley wait a few more years, get more world records under her belt before a biography. Admittedly a biography at 17 is unusual but, in Hayley's case, there is a story worth telling now and I am sure it will be worth reading. I see no advantage in waiting until some of its detail becomes lost in the mists of time. Those of us who genuinely support her are delighted at its early release. Roger

I second what Roger says.
This is no different to the biography for CC. The early career should be recorded for fouture fans, as well as her oldest (as in longest) fans. This information cannot be lost to poterity so, I will be buying it and would recommend to anyone that they do also.
Keith.

Well,
With some reluctance, I am posting this message - but I do hope for an honest discussion.
I for one will not be buying the biography (I won't be buying Clintons biography either, for that matter).
I feel that biographies in general are an unnecessary form of self-aggrandisement.
When I heard about the imminent release of this biography - my very thought was - this is even more premature than Charlotte's. Hayley has just one international album to her credit - it hasn't been released in 80% of the world - at this stage it apparently hasn't yet reached sales in the US warranting even a silver award.
Hayley has only received platinum with Pure in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
I strongly feel that a biography won't be in place until towards the end of her current contract - when there has been time for proper reflection on how her career has been developing - and to assess whether or not she really has the world at her feet. Also, at that time, the real, long-lasting effect of Hayley's success on the life of her family will be much more apparent.
Having said all that, from a commercial point of view, the timing of the biography is probably well taken. Hayley is at a high point of her career - and because of that, the biography will undoubtedly sell well.
One thing I am worried about is the title of the biography "The world at her feet". Pure has been very successful - but why not wait until the subsequent albums are released and prove to be equally successful? What if the success of Pure won't be repeated with subsequent albums. Then that title will appear decidely out-of-place. That's my real concern - Hayley is NOT yet established as a world star - a biography under this title should wait until she is a proven performer everywhere in the world.
I don't think any details of Hayley's life will be lost in the mist of time - they are too well recorded. None of this information will be lost to posterity. Hayley (and Paul Little) only run the risk of having to eat their words a few years from now by publishing this biography now.

I concur with Keith and Roger's comments entirely. Hayley probably wants to use the bio as a kind of snapshot of her life as things stand right now. She has a great story to tell as we all know and it's only just begun. Although 'Pure" didn't do as well as I thought in the USA, her upcoming TV appearances and concerts are bound to make up for that. I predict Hayley WILL become a household name in the USA. I hope Hayley will do the book on audiotape as well. Charlotte's biography was quite enjoyable. I have the hardback and book-on-tape version.
Keith, I'm glad that your house remodelling is almost complete!! I, too, as going through Olympics withdrawal. For me the Olympics are very inspiring. Nothing to watch now except that Republican covention lark.

No doubt we are all excited on the prospects of a book that will tell Hayley's "life so far". However the title "The World At Her Feet" probably isn't the best title the author could've imagained.
What I'm asking is perhaps others here might have another title in mind. I fancy something like "Casual Meets Classical".
Let's have some fun. Post your ideas for a title here !

Hi all,
I have to say I agree with Roger and those pro the biography. True, she is very young to have a biography, but she has already accomplished something most dont achieve in a life time. I agree with Joe about the title being not quite right, the album has been released in such a small portion of the world - about 20%(? - correct me if I'm wrong). Not much we can do about it now though!! And the title; "Australasia, part of Europe, Japan and part of the US...etc at her feet" just doesn't have the same ring to it...!!
Kirsty xx

Hi Roger,
I'm getting the same date from Amazon.co.uk. I will try and do some checking and see what I, or someone else, can come up with.

Hi everyone, Hayley Westenra (The World at her feet) is on the shelves in New Zealand and has some nice pictures of Hayley as a Baby and A picture of her in The Littlest Star, not as many pictures as i would have hoped for. It is written in Big print for us people with eye problems. Well worth buying, There are many people and events mentioned in it that i know of,so it has added meaning .

When you have your copy of Hayley"s Biography it mentions on page 152 about the concert Hayley was in with Jose Carreras in Dec 2003. It goes as follows For hayley the evening did not end with her final bow, outside there were fans with Hayley Westenra International in gold on their jerseys, who had driven 4 hours to get a video to put on their website and give Hayley a present. Hayley had been delayed backstage and the driver said to her ,if you had come 10 minutes ago there would have been a hundred more. The UK price of the book is 12.99 NZ $29.99 I noticed in a letter box flyer from a bookshop they were advertising Hayleys book.and it Had : A dream come true, instead of The World at her feet. Will see if there are two different covers.
