Yuck! And I liked Amelia on X Factor. A pity if they are mucking about with her voice.

Martin,
I can't recall ever being more disappointed by any artist as I am by Amelia, honestly. I loved her on X-Factor. I was really looking forward to her album. But, well... If you really want to horrify yourself, find her new single, Is The Party Over on YouTube. With the amount of auto-tune used on that, they could have gotten anyone in the building - male or female - to record it, and it would sound the same.
Amelia is an amazingly talented singer, but you'd never believe it from any of her singles, so far. Terribly, terribly disappointing.

And they've done that with many great talents. We all know Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," but have you ever seen her audition on Canadian Idol? I'd suggest checking it out

I had her down as a non-singer, Rory, honestly. I'll have to check out her Canadian Idol audition, now...

Don't want to be nasty, but I would not have expected a great deal from her, personally. This is Amelia Lily singing Queen after her grand comeback. She's genuinely superb.

Yea she can sing. I don't even wanna hear what they did to her like you mentioned. I've never watched X-Factor actually, but I've watched American Idol since season 1. They have some great talents, but the best singers almost never win anymore

It's all about the sob story these days - unfortunately. I usually ignore all the British talent shows except Britain's Got Talent, because that's where the people go who are talented but don't fit into conventional record company moulds, as it were. Even then, it's usually the press buzz that points me at the people of interest.
The only time I ever paid any attention at all to X-Factor was when Amelia was on. She was the only one ever worth paying attention to.
She got compared quite frequently to Kelly Clarkson and Xtina, and neither comparison - flattering as they are - was inaccurate, IMO.
She was either 15 or only just turned 16 in that clip you just saw. She's a truly incredible talent.
You're right - you don't want to hear what they did to her for her album. It ought to be a criminal offence to take a wonderful singer like that and do what they did.

Ive seen to many good singers lose our to much worse opposition. Also, Mr Cowell bends over backwards to help his favourites stay in, even if they are hopeless. I watch The Voice though, seems to have a much higher standard of singing although some of the performers are professionals and established amateur singers. Martin D

Yea The Voice seems like the most legitimate of the big 3. I've seen a few episodes - I like the premise of the blind auditions and 4 teams, and it's great that they always use singers who have been checked for some talent. Am I correct in assuming that American Idol is not broadcast in England? It seems obvious, but these days I'm not jumping to conclusions so quickly

It is possible that American Idol is broadcast somewhere, but not on any of the main channels to my knowledge.

Thought so. But if X-Factor and The Voice are broadcast, that seems to imply that the only reason Idol isn't is because of the word "American." Unless Pop Idol is still around?
