Thanks Jim. I had a vague memory that I had seen it on some obscure channel somewhere. There are so many to choose from these days.

Thought so. But if X-Factor and The Voice are broadcast, that seems to imply that the only reason Idol isn't is because of the word "American." Unless Pop Idol is still around? -Rory British versions are broadcast, not US versions. (Well, unless Jim or someone knows differently! AFAIK the US versions are not broadcast in Britain)

But there is a British version of Idol? lol I should probably just look it up. I know there used to be Pop Idol, before AI

Pop Idol is the British version of American Idol, yes X-Factor is the same name, same format, but a different program. The Voice is also same name, different program. Confusing, isn't it? The really MAIN difference in the Idol shows, though, as far as I can see, is that the US sometimes has genuinely talented people (Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson). The UK's Pop Idol never has produced anyone of similar note, IMO.

True, AI has had some real talent. But it's a crime what they've done the last few years. Joshua Ledet, for example, was the clear winner last year in my eyes. Jessica Sanchez was great too, worlds better than Phillip Phillips who won. I've heard rumors that it's actually rigged, which I am considering more now since the current season has an all girl top 5, after 4 or 5 consecutive male winners. On the bright side, I'd be satisfied with any of these girls as the winner

Is there an AI or singing competition thread? We are going a bit off topic -Rory

Really liking Blake's young country protégée on The Voice this season. Not a huge fan of country but she's got very pleasing, clear voice. Adorable kid too.

All I can see here in the UK is: "The uploader has not made this video available in your country." Richard

All I can see here in the UK is: "The uploader has not made this video available in your country." Richard That happens far too much. I usually translate those kinds of message as: "Some exec who hasn't grasped the possibilities of worldwide advertising yet wants to stop their artist getting fans in your country." Well, that's the polite translation, anyway

Update list time again, I think! The twenty artists I am currently listening to most that are not Classical/Crossover: Alex Roots (Pop/Rock) Tiffany Page (Rock) (Tiff's had a few new songs out recently) Sarah Solovay (Indie/Rock/Pop) The Pretty Reckless (Hard Rock) (Currently obsessed with their cover of Champagne Supernova) Amelia Lily (X-Factor stuff mainly, but she has a great Pat Benatar cover) George Ezra (Dunno what the heck to call it, but it's great) Pixie Lott (Not a fan of most of her stuff, but some songs she's done with the Motown sound are great) Mishka (Reggae) Eliza Doolittle (Weird stuff ) Lily & Madeleine (Folk) Erin K (Anti-Folk. Yes, really. I'd never heard of it, either! ) Alexz Johnson (Folk/Rock) The Corrs (Pop) B*Witched (Not the Pop stuff, the weird stuff! ) Susannah Hoffs (Of The Bangles, yes, but her solo stuff is very good, too) Taylor Swift & Def Leppard (Yes, they did an entire program of songs together. And it is awesome) Madness (Ska) Jessica Mougin (From the Dutch X-Factor) Liz Huett (Country) Transvision Vamp (Rock)
