hayley must be even more popular. I have around me all infected with my enthusiasm. A new DVD would be determined by a live concert very helpful. Anyone who has ever attended a concert by Hayley will not get away from her again.

Not a new video but newer members may not have seen it, the Featured Video at HWI is now:

Is that the original melody for Tonight We'll Light a Candle? It's basically the same as Pokarekare Ana. It's beautiful though

It's the original melody of Pokarekare Ana for sure. I don't know much about the other song's origins, hopefully somebody else here knows.

Hello Paige and Libby,

I have included everything I know about this song in our Youtube video notes written in 2009, which is:

Hayley then aged 16 singing "Tonight We'll Light A Candle" at the Festival of Remembrance, Saturday 8th November 2003, at the Royal Albert Hall in London in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen.

The specially written lyrics are set to a new arrangement (for this event) of the New Zealand traditional song "Pokarekare Ana".

This performance showcases a young Hayley at her very best, singing at the age of only 16, just a few months after becoming Internationally known.

The video was originally recorded by Gerrit Kroeze for HWI and was recently re-discovered in the HWI vaults. It is from an original windows media file compressed at only 256 kbps and has needed considerable enhancement and editing to make it as presentable as possible in 2009. Editing and restoration by Dave Ludlow.

So although we know it is set to the tune of Pokarekare Ana, we do not, I regret, know the name of the lyricist at the moment. The lyrics can be found here in the HWI archive. but the audio referred to on that page is currently missing.

I don't know where it came from but I think it's great. If Dave put it on thanks to him. I kinda hated to see Hayley grow up cause that meant I was getting older too.Ha-Ha.

Hi Larry,

All I did was rediscover it in the HWI vaults then restore it and upload it, it's an important part of Hayley's singing career.

But the real credit must go to Gerrit who recorded it from the Netherlands (on VHS tape I think) and digitised it for Keith and Simon (our illustrious founders but who sadly are no longer with us) to present on HWI.

Wow, thank you for sharing. I don't think I've ever seen this... studio footage of Hayley recording Who Painted the Moon Black? That's certainly vintage.
