Hello everyone, For anyone who hasn't noticed yet, I uploaded last night to YouTube (hwivid) another video from Hayley's 2006 Christmas Presence concert in Cardiff, it was broadcast then on ITV. With all the talk about "Winter Magic" in other threads, here is some more magic from Hayley... and I hope you like it. Hayley Westenra - White Christmas (2006).Dave PS: To see what other videos we've uploaded recently, you could click here . or here.

Hi Dave,
I don't know if you have noticed an upsurge in hits on the YT vids from the Far East since the Taipei concert, but I certainly have.

Hi Martin, yes there was certainly an increase after Taipei, but nowhere near the World Games effect, of course! I've just had a look at the most popular of our videos in various Countries, there are some interesting differences over the last 10 days: Top videos by Country/area (last 10 days)The Prayer (solo) - World (17%) - USA (18%) - Australia (19%) - Canada (18%)- Brazil (18%) - All Europe (19%) Vivo Per Lei duets - Italy (37%) Romania (56%) We'll Meet Again - UK (21%) - NZ (28%) Flower - Japan (17%) Nada Sousou World Games - Taiwan (39%) - California (15%) Those are all the main ones, the percentages are the percent of all HWI videos viewed and the listed videos are top in the stated Countries/areas. I find some of it quite interesting! Dave

Thanks for the information, Dave! Hayley's duet with Dame Vera Lynn has certainly gone down well in New Zealand. Richard

Hayley's duet with Dame Vera Lynn has certainly gone down well in New Zealand. Richard Hi Richard, Yes but not as well as in the UK for her latest duet at the Festival of Remembrance. The previous UK record on our YouTube channel for daily views (all videos) was about 280, during the World Games. The last three days have been (UK only): [280 (Previous UK record)] 170 (Friday) 290 (Saturday) 880 (Sunday) 580 (Monday). Most other Countries were still catching up and increased their views on Monday. Worldwide, we hit about 3,100 on Sunday, which is the second highest ever, just short of the 3,400 or so that we had just after Hayley sung at the World Games. We'll Meet Again accounted for about 1,300 views on Sunday and another 1,000 on Monday. HWI main site page views went up from its usual 1000 - 2000 a day to 4982 on Monday. Hopefully, some will find their way to the forum too. Dave

Am I the only one who wants Hayley to make an album of Ivor Novello songs after that? Though I'd settle for Noel Coward.
That was just beautiful...

Thought I'd post the current top 10 HWI videos on Youtube, as it's changed a lot recently. It's based on the last 10 days viewing. (% of total views - Hayley Video) 11.9 - Mary Did You Know? Gabriel's Message, O Holy Night (Christmas Carols 1 of 2) 9.0 - Chestnuts Roasting, Silent Night, Away in a Manger (Christmas Carols 2 of 2) 8.7 - The Prayer 7.7 - Whispering Hope 7.2 - We'll Meet Again - Hayley - Vera Lynn - Fron Male Voice Choir(RAH) 4.5 - Flower ( 花 ) on NHK TV Japan 3.0 - Vivo Per Lei - Hayley & Andrea Bocelli (US TV version) 3.0 - Somewhere 3.0 - We'll Meet Again - Hayley & Fron Male Voice Choir (Titchmarsh) 3.0 - Vivo Per Lei - Andrea Bocelli & Hayley (2005 - Dutch TV) The top three are all from Christmas Presence 2006, well it IS Christmas! I've had a some enquiries to ask if any kind of 'official' DVD was produced for this concert, locally, by ITV, or anywhere. Kathryn at Bedlam is not aware of any but she will do some digging and let me know what she finds out. Total views of all our YT videos are currently running at around 2,500 a day. Cheers, Dave

Well, it isn't about videos, so I'm probably OT, but today I played the CD I made from that broadcast over a year ago, in the car on the way back from Bath. And I have to say, it is every bit as good as Winter Magic in my opinion. It has a more serious and perhaps spiritual take on Christmas. I am not saying that that is what WM should or could have been, things move on. Only that I still enjoy CP immensely. It has O Holy Night, Gabriels Message, Away in a Manger, Mary Did you Know. And that that is another beautiful album that Hayley could have made. But perhaps it is looking backwards, and WM is looking forwards.

Yeah, but Hayley is young... with her talent and a little of luck, there are still many years of singing and making CDs... She seems to be taking a new direction, but I feel, after some years there will be a time for her to look backwards, and if she does, I am sure something great and very emotiive will come from it...
And, wahatever she does, we will be there for her, cause she deserves it..

Absolutely Michal, I think you are new to this, but within ten seconds of first hearing Hayley sing, I knew I had to get behind and support her. That was nearly six years ago. And for me. there is still nobody that comes close. Last night at Bath confirmed it once again. It is especially true if you hear Hayley perform live. If you only listen to records, then it is harder to discern, because Hayley's records have never done her justice. But live, she is awesome, that is the best of Hayley. She deserves much better than she is getting, that is for sure. She always seems to get the bad end of thngs, and I don't know whether it is incompetence in her promotion, the ability of our media to promote and sell the second rate ahead of the best, peoples's lack of discernment or my own unfashionable tastes, but I think there are people out there who would love her as much as I do if they only knew she exists. Her popularity in \tawan shows what could be achieved, and those who are not making that happed worldwide have some serios questions to answer in my opinion.
The HWI viseoam and other videos that we post on You|Tube are one way of promoting her. If the people who are paid to promote her can't get it right, then we have to do our best to help.

Hello Martindn and everybody! Hayley often seems better live than on record because of the strong visual elements of her performance, particularly her wonderful facial expressions and hand movements. If you can picture her in your mind while you're listening, you may find it adds to your enjoyment of her CDs. Richard

Hi Richard,
Much as I enjoy seeing the visual aspects of Hayley's performances, I don't think that that is the main thing that makes the difference. For me it is the sound. I love to hear Hayley sing unaccompanied, or accompanying herself on the piano, or perhaps the rarest treat of all, hearing her sing without a microphone in a great cathedral as I did in Peterborough. That was very very special. I have always felt that the less there is around Hayley the better, and even though these days she has wonderful musicians around her, for me it is the undistorted sound of her voice that I love most of all. I think that the recording process will always detract from her performances. And tat by far the best way to enjoy Hayley's music is live. For some other artists though the opposite is the case. Form your own conclusions.

When I visit YouTube, Specifically Hayley's concert material I try to give a reference to the Album the song is from in the comments box under the video box, sometimes subtle, sometimes with blunt force, Including UCCL number and a recommendation for CD japan or Earthquake or other supplier,
With a comment like "support your favourite artist, buy the CD"
Maybe other members could do the same, You may have to Register with YouTube to post comments
