Hello Grant and everybody! 'Matangi' was the name of a ship that sailed between Tauranga and Auckland from 1923 to 1929. I've found some more information about the song, including MP3 samples, HERE. There are several different versions, so look at all four pages. Richard

Excellent reports, photos and videos. The song So Far Away sung by Will was originally sung by Geoff Sewell from the Amici Forever popera band who is also a kiwi. You can see the influence the cruise ship job had on Will in how he interacts with the audience.

Hello everyone,
Thanks so much for all of the fantastic photos and videos. I can't tell you how much I have loved watching the videos as they were VERY VERY well recorded! So professional! Me and my mom sat back and watched the fantastic performances for, what I have to say, as one of Hayley's best. Her voice seemed very well warmed up and so smooth. She really did well - as always of course! I particularly loved Barcarolle! Did you know that this song was played on violin in the dining room throughout the Titanic film? Beautiful to see student and teacher performing with each other. Very special.
I believe this was one of Hayley's highlights.
I have two questions: firstly, did Hayley sing Songbird? I have never heard her sing it yet! Also, did Hayley and Will sing Hine e Hine together or separately? I'd love to see a video!
Thanks all, Dori

Hi Dori & everyone & thanks once again Drew. I just can't get enough of Hayley & Malvina singing the barcarolle duet. I presume it's in Italian. ( Paulo ??) I'm about to search for the lyrics. WOW !!!!

Thanks all, Dori Hi Dori Its nice to hear from you, I hope you and the family are all well. To answer your questions, Hayley didn't sing Songbird on this occasion and it is actually Hayley & Dame Malvina that sing Hine e Hine as a duet. I think the video may be coming up shortly I'm really looking forward to hearing that again. Best wishes Mark

Thanks Drew!
Just perfect!
I've been waiting to see that one again - Dame Malvina seemed very happy to be singing a duet with Hayley.
Perhaps the great lady has been thinking all these years she's known Hayley "Wonder if/when we'll ever get to perform together?"
Now she has and what a great day that was! And we were there!!
Best wishes Grant

Hi Dori & everyone & thanks once again Drew. I just can't get enough of Hayley & Malvina singing the barcarolle duet. I presume it's in Italian. ( Paulo ??) I'm about to search for the lyrics. WOW !!!!Hi Graeme, The All Angels sing this song in their debut album, is actually sung in French, I found the Lyrics here: www.lyrics007.com/All%20Angels%20Lyrics/Barcarolle%20Lyrics.html. I think it's the same version, as my French is much worse than my English. There is a nice explanation about the term "Barcarolle" in Wikipedia here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarcarolleGreetings from Portugal, It is not Italy or France! I'm only joking Best wishes, Paulo Correia

I asked you as I wrongly thought the composer was Italian & that Italian & Spanish have similarities & therefore Portuguese maybe too. I don't know any Portuguese but I seem to remember that the neighbouring Spaniards don't understand it too well either. Once you know what they're singing the words jump out at you....very clearly sung. Graeme
