Hayley Sings Japanese Songs (2008 Japan release)

She may also start work on the 4th International album in March but of course, I don't know if there will be enough time to finish both of them in March.

Hello everyone,

We now have the first online information about the new album for Japan that Hayley has (we think) recently been recording in London. So it is, I think, time to start a new thread about it, which we may move into a new sub-board later, when we have more information about it. For now, I have discovered some details from the following Japanese websites:

Tower Records Japan (Japanese web page)

Tower Records Japan (Google Translation)

HMV Japan (Japanese web page with Album Title in English).

All the information (including the HMV Title and the Tower track listing) seems to be provisional although I'm sure that we can extract some useful information out of it between us! I will start the ball rolling with the Album Title suggested by HMV which is:

Hayley Meets Japanese Songs
Release Date: 4 June 2008 (HMV) or 6 June 2008 (Tower)

The HMV title sounds like a poor translation of what could be the real title but we shall have to wait for more information.

And Joe I agree with, "I Believe" is one of the songs that I wish Hayley would do on her next album...I mentioned that under the thread "What you would like Hayley to sing in her next album"....
hmmmm do you think she reads our suggestions?

I've just heard the fifth track in the repertoire, 雪の華 by Mika Nakashima and found it very it good. A bit of a pop style but will probably suit Hayley as well.

But the way, does it mean this time Hayley will really sing in Japanese? There are already a few Japan compilation albums, and the closest Hayley got was Nada Sousou, which is still in English. If she's to sing in Japanese, surely it'll be a breakthrough.

One more thing, I've just checked out the songs in YouTube. Interestingly a lot of them have been sung by a singer called Hideaki Tokunaga.

Unfortunately, we don't know any further details about the new album yet but, if she sings in Japanese, it won't be the first time. She recorded a version of Wiegenlied in Japanese which was released as a single there in 2005.

Actually Roger, we do! Hayley said two days ago to MoreFM that she recorded this new album in Japanese and English. She's also hoping that it will be released worldwide, not just in Japan. I was surprised that no one commented on that but it looks as though you missed my post about the Japanese album here.

I made a poor attempt to translate the tracklist and try to guess the songs. Here's a rough translation. Please be aware that I could be completely wrong!

CD: Hayley meets Japanese songs
1. White colour (listen to original song here)
2. Flower (there's a song by "Orange Range" with exactly the same title, but somehow I doubt it will be this song unless Hayley has really gone into pop & rock. Listen here)
3. Becoming thousand winds (listen to original song here)
4. Dogwood (listen to original song by Hitoto Yo here)
5. Yuki No Hana (it means "Snow Flower" or "Bloom of Snow", it's originally a song by Nakashima Mika, listen here)
6. Song for Memories (listen to original song here)
7. White colour [same as track number 1, but Japanese version]
8. Era (listen to original song by Tokunaga Hideaki here)
9. Graduation photography (listen to original song here)
10. I believe (could also be the Japanese song version of "I believe" by Ayaka - have a listen here)
11. Love love love [English version - BONUS TRACK] (listen to original version by Epik High here; again I could be wrong as it's not the type of song Hayley would usually sing)
12. Amazing Grace (I'm not sure but it looks as though this is going to be a duet in Japanese)

Thanks for this very special information! :wink: I'm really looking forward to this album because I think it is going to be very different from what we are used to!

I also got the same impression as you, Stephany, about 'Amazing Grace' - if correct it will be awesome!! I have the 'Weiganlied' CD where she sings in Japanese and I love it. The Japanese language seems to really suit her voice.

I can't wait to find out more!!
