Hi everyone Lovley pictures Caite, Belinda, Oksy & Katie. Just to prove that we did have some snow here in Oxfordshire (UK) today, here are a couple of quick snaps of part of my garden. The light was fading and the snow almost melted, but at least we have seen some - the first this year Best regards Mark

Thanks for the congratulations on the 100 posts. I wasn't able to long on here very regurly when I was at college, so my first 100 posts came revaltively slowly. Now that I will just be working, that should change.
Anyway, thanks for the comments on my picture. The ice storm wasn't very much fun. Let's just say that litterly beating 2 inches of solid ice off of a driveway takes a lot of muscle power.
Mark the snow pictures you posted are lovely. That is just right amount of snow--enough to be pretty, but not interfere with everyone's normal coming and goings.
Katie

Well, we went up to Ashridge as it was my favourite animal's first snow experience and he loved it. This picture is 'up the road' from me yesterday morning. The second picture, a close-up of said animal in the snow is under favourite animals. Incredibly everything had gone by late after-noon! This morning we do not have a sliver, but a rather hard frost. Hi Peter & everyone Nice shot of the snow Peter. Its just about all melted here now. I managed to take a shot of my daughters (quite small) snowman early this morning before he became a puddle of water. He's already lost an eye and several buttons !! Mark

Hi All Keeping in point with the winter theme... Here's a picture which I took in Edinburgh city centre just before Christmas last year. I thought the blue lighting looked rather unusual and eye-catching. Andrew

Nonetheless, Mark, with so little snow around that was a jolly good effort on her part! Peter S.

Your blue internal lighting picture is quite dramatic indeed, Andrew. Any idea as to why or how? I mean, a deliberate internal effort to have a dramatic external effect or coincidence of something happening inside?

Hi Belinda
Great shots that remind me of summer and how it seems a long time since we had ours here in the UK. By the way, I see you have got the date back on your camera and, its correct !!
Best wishes Mark.

Hello again Peter You asked if mum painted anything else so I've attached this one. It's a bit dark so I hope it comes over OK Again it's painted from a magazine photo and it's full title is "The sinking of the Royal George by the Dutch in the Medway - 1667" Best wishes Grant

Wow, Grant, your mother is so talented! Thanks for sharing! I've got a few pictures, taken when I should have been studying for my exams... This is a tiny Swarowski crystal inkpot that my parents gave me when I got an award for my writing. A seashell... I like it because the background turned out perfectly black&white, so it looks like I used selective coloring on this shot, when I didn't. And finally, some more frost! The details didn't come out too well, but it looks better at the large size, which is available at www.flickr.com/people/winter-light/. Oksy PS. Thank you for your kind comments on my last post.

Hi Oksana, Glad you like my Mum's painting - your photographs are awesome! I must try some frost pictures myself if we get any. Just a thought. That last one of yours looks as though you had both sky and landscape visible behind the glass. Try getting low down so there is only sky OR stand on some steps and point your camera down to get only the darker landscape. That way you shouldn't have contrasts in your picture. Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant and Oksy and everyone! Even more excellent pictures... I don't know where you all keep finding them! Grant, I removed Oksy's photos from your quote of her post as they all appear already in the very next post above yours! Cheers, Dave

Hi Oksy, I'm really impressed with the latest pictures which you have shared with us... Hey! The photograph of the Swarowski crystal inkpot and the one of the seashell look very striking indeed! They remind of the types of images which high profile finance companies include on their business brochures/ business cards due to their visual impact (clever use of light etc) and simplicity. Perhaps a viable option would be to approach some financial sector companies with your portfolio? $$$$$$$$$$$$ Andrew

I think you are spot on there, Andrew. There are several excellent photographers on this forum but I have always found Oksy's to be particularly artistic. Whether it be a sunset, a simple inert object, or frost on a window pane, she always manages to capture something that most people would fail to notice.
