Photographs are like a bug trapped in ember. They pause time for a moment. And they spark countless memories or feelings. Is anyone else as encaptured by photgraphy as I am? Do you prefer film to digital, or digital to film? I take photos of whatever captures my eye, which happens to be nature most often. Below are a couple of photogrpahs I have taken. The first is in my backyard, the second in Michigan, and the third is in Briancon, France. <3 Caite

Hi Caite,
I love photography but have not taken many (other than Hayley) in recent years. I bought a Pentax ME Super in the year that it was voted "camera of the year" and really got the bug. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever and it stopped working (after many years of use). I tried having it repaired without success.
I now have an Olympus digital camera. Towards the lower end of the price range so I must consider upgrading it sometime.
Which do I prefer? In an ideal world, I would like both. I felt more in control of an SLR camera if that makes sense but I love the convenience of digital photography.
Your pictures are wonderful and show you really have an artistic eye. It is a wonderful hobby. May you always enjoy it.
Roger

Thank you about my photos. I also like the convenience of a digital camera, but sometimes it's hard to get things "just so." Photos can turn out blurry or distorted because of shaky hands more easily than if you were working with, say, your SLR. I know there are really high-end digital cameras that work much like a 35mm, but they're far too expensive for me. I would say for trips a digital is easier to manage, but otherwise I think a film camera is best. Plus, you can have all sorts of fun filters and gadgets! Basically there are pros and cons to both types of cameras, but I guess it all depends on your preference and what types of photos you are taking. I think I'm going to have to work on giving more concise answers! <3 Caite

Hi All, Caite is "spot on!"... photos can take you back to a time and a place so quickly, rekindling some of the emotions you might have experienced at the time they were taken. I will need to post up some of my pictures from Cape Town, South Africa 2001. In the meantime, "I never saw blue like that before..." This is a mecanopsis (Blue Poppy) I photographed this from my parents' garden in the year 2000. No camera tricks here, purely a natural example of God's miraculous creation (like Hayley!) Andrew

Hello Andrew! Your photo of the Blue Poppy is stunning! I can't wait to see your photos from Cape Town! Keeping with the flowers...Here is another photograph I took. I know it was in Brussels, but I can't remember the name of the park. <3 Caite

Hello everybody! Many thanks for all the wonderful photographs. A few more like these and this forum could rival National Geographic Magazine! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI've stickied this thread to keep it prominent. Best Wishes from London, Richard

Many thanks to you all for some lovely photographs. I am now eager to go wandering off somewhere with my camera!
Yes Tashi, it was Portugal where the Odyssey photo shoot took place. I can't remember where Hayley was immediately prior and following that trip but, if it was the UK, Portugal isn't so far away.
Keep the pics coming everyone!

Keep the pics coming everyone! Roger Hi All, Apparently Hayley was FREEZING cold when she went for the 'Odyssey' cover photo shoot in Portugal! There was an article which featured an interview with Hayley about this... I'll see if I can source it. I think Belinda may have had some involvement with finding the article initially. If you look at the 'Favourite Picutres of Hayley' thread, you will see that I posted up a picture where Hayley is wearing a winter coat with her hood up. The caption I added at the bottom relates to the 'Odyssey' cover photo shoot! Regards Andrew

Hi classicgrace.
Thanks for sharing. When were you in NZ, when Hayley was touring in January? Interestingly (and I would be interested in the Kiwis' reverse thoughts) there is much in your NZ pictures that is similar to the UK--if you know where to look.
In the USA, New England is an obvious comparison--just on a larger scale, but I did not know until I visited (perhaps simply my ignorance) that the stretch from Toronto to Quebec is known as New France? And just like France it is indeed!

Dear Andrew/Roger.
Regarding Portugal photoshoot, it is interesting you confirm that she was cold. I thought she looked cold in the photograph and guessed it must have been either a cold day or shot in winter and at that time I did not know she was cold. The overall blue effect helps that persuasion but I was certain she actually was slipping in and out of fur coats between takes.

Hello I have been watching this thread for a few days and I thought I should post of my own, so here are the first set. The top is at Niagara Falls and the bottom one was taken at a French beach. I will post some more soon. David

Dear David in Surrey.
Niagara Falls pic vivid. Was that from the boat? I never took that trip, I took the option of going through the tunnels behind the waterfall.
Hiow much did you manage to see? When a little older than I think you are, my fiancé changed her mind and I blew the down deposit intended for our house on a grand tour across the States: Niagara, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, LA, 'Frisco, Las Vagas, being in the middle of Monument Valley at 5:00a.m. in the morning (I am naturally a late morning man so that was traumatic!) to watch the sun come up etc etc ending with visiting Washington and NY.
Never regretted it and I've lived off that trip all my life. That is the time to do 'trips of a life-time' when you are young so what ever the world throws at you later that bank of memories stands you in good stead. Possibly a motivation of Hayley's, travel now while she's young to cope with turmoil and stress?
My last time out I left friends in Boston to see friends in Toronto via Amtrack. The tracks (which you may have seen from the boat?) cross the canyon away from the tourist areas right in front of the vast gates of the ship canal through the falls as a ship was entering. Two or three days later I was travelling with friends further west, above the falls, to watch a ship enter the highest lock. Extraordinary feature.
While on the train I came across a group of recent graduates fitting in a mini trip across the States before settling into their first jobs. I was particularly fortunate with my trip in that the friends over there were from my own college days. Having been out there for five years they had decided to do a grand tour in case they decided to come back home--just at the right time. They paid the petrol and car expenses as they were going to do the trip anyway and all I had to pay for was my hotel and food bills.
In the end they stayed while i spent the rest of the time wondering if i ougnt to move out there! But then, I most certainly would not have had a single, let alone all, my Hayley encounters!
All the best.
Peter

Tashi- Those photos are wonderful! It makes me want to visit NZ all the more. I hope you post some more soon. =)
David- I've never been to Niagra Falls and only have ever seen them in pictures. Your picture is the best I've seen so far and it makes me really want to go! Where in France (which beach) was that picture taken on? It seems very familiar to me, like I've been there. Look forward to seeing more photos of yours!
