I also remember being nervous a few times driving on those mountain roads with 45 deg. fallaway on the edges & no (few)railings. (gulp) Graeme Hi Graeme, yes there are quite a few places here in NZ where there are no fences at all alongside the roads. It's good fun driving a bus with tourists on board looking down on a shear drop of several hundred feet in some places, moreso up on the skifields. The idea is not to drive over the edge lol lol i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif have fun, cheers, Rodders

Hi Mark, Great Photo's next time i'm i'm in the Uk i must have a look at the place and not just go from A to B. Andrew, Sigh , iv'e tried to imagine what you must all feel being able to think when and not if there will be a Hayley concert. Haha i'd love a winter tour best too i'm sure. Who put NZ where it was,at the end of the earth.Or is that middle earth Belinda Bless you Belinda. I'm sure we all here do realie how fortunate we are and at the least you do know we make the most of our good fortune! I guess there will come a time when the new CD is launched that she will take another world tour and we may lose her ourselves to the States at least for several weeks... and then there is Europe. then of course her homeland. There will come a time, all too soon it will seem when it happens, when we will feel as you are expressing yourself In the mean time, we do try and make the most of our opportunities, we don't waste them. That must be some consolation? Peter S.

Hi Belinda I think God put New Zealand where it is to keep it safe from all the harm and hatred in the world. I know it's a long way from us all (and from Hayley). I know it's not much consolation but it is said that the "The best things in life are worth waiting for" Just think about those of us having to wait until probably January 2008 to visit your wonderful country! You're already there. Keep smiling Grant I don't want to put a dampner on your optimism Grant, but I'm afraid there is much about New Zealand that is not greatly different from here--although perhaps I picked a bad day. The explanation to that enigma will follow on a thread i haven't yet found or haven't yet created in case it exists. I'm still catching up on ten day absence! Peter S.

Thanks Grant, First i have to put the word photography in the post to make the message on topic in the off topic section, and i know to well the reason's she never here for a concert and i am starting to come to terms with the fact, what won't be won't be. I'd love to see some of you at a concert in Christchurch someday, that would be Belinda I think several of us are seriously contemplating it but this guy most particularly! He would have made her last (this January? Time flies so fast one forgets years, so if that is the case for me, wow! how time is flying for Hayley. Steady girl, steady! Grab each moment as it passes...!) but I was still too far away from recovery to withstand the rigour, let alone enjoy it to the full. But time moves on and so do i improve so... It's soon or never for then i will be too old for either travel insurance of for health reasons. Peter S.

Hi Mark. That explains the 'odd' date to me. When Hayley was in Banbury last December they were either setting up or pulling down the rides.

Hello Mark, Thanks for the wonderful photos! I didn't know Banbury also had a lady on a horse...perhaps she was riding to Coventry ! However, I've heard of Banbury cakes...lots of currants and spices. The Cross looks very impressive...I'll want to Google it to learn its history. Thanks again for sharing, Mark! Cheers, Joe Now I can add something here. Ffeign has been spelt wrong but it is the actor who is related to an explorer whose family go back nearly 1,500 years. They owned several castles but are now down to their last one and interestingly it came to my knowledge because there was a Sunday Times (I think) colour supplement on the background connection.Shakespeare had visited the last castle owned by the family and it was interesting for Ffeign to play Shakespeare where Shakespeare had actually visited which was also his cousin's home! The film was 'Shakespeare in Love'. The connection to this post is that it is thought to be '...to see a Ffeign lady at Banbury Cross. Peter S

Thanks for all of the comments on my pictures. I was a bit shook up after the car accident, but I am basically over it now. I haven't driven since then (I have a car on my college campus, but I only use it to go grocery shopping.)
Graeme I love your picture of the baby birds; it is really cute. Belinda thanks for the pictures of New Zealand. Keep them coming!
All of this talk about driving close to the edge of drop offs on roads reminded of a story my mom tells about when her and my dad lived in Wyoming after they were married. As they lived in the mountains, she had to drive over drop offs of hundreds of feet. They didn't put guard rails up so they could push the snow over the edge. My mom said that she use to hold her breath--especially when it was snowing. I'm imagine everyone here has the same feelings about similar roads.

Hello everyone,
If anyone is wondering where Steven's excellent photos of the Yorktown re-enactment went, well the thread drifted too far off-topic (even for the off-topic board) I'm afraid, so reluctantly, and after some discussion, I removed the thread.
I have invited Steven to repost the photos in this photography thread and I hope he will decide do so, they are very nice photos deserving of a permanent place here.
Cheers, Dave

maybe eventually, but I think I want to finish this trip first. Unfortunately, a lot of the stuff I'm visiting is historically significant/

Hi Belinda Just wanted to say how much I liked the first pic, of you and your mother on the bridge. Such a lovely backdrop...looks like a warm spring day in NZ ! Also liked the pic of your mum's back garden and sidewalk (or also called crazy paving in NZ? ). A brilliant display of blooms there! Cheers from the USA, Joe i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
